A waste of time, every time. Absolute failure of a store. Let me say, I wanted to love this store, it looks like a million bucks, appears to have a big selection of products. Once you get inside, you're facing off against scalper-level pricing, confused employees, and an absolute unwillingness to perform any level of customer service. I'm tired of coming here for broken arcade games, jacked up sky-high prices, confused employees, and broken promises. This was truly the last straw, if this business has any sense of customer service, or integrity, I'd welcome them to reach out to me to make this right. Most of their selection is kept "in the back" where you can't obtain pricing without having them make a big production about the trouble they're going through. I called in asking if they had a specific product for sale, Riftbound (This is 11/5, Riftbound Released 10/31) I was informed they had product, and plenty of it at $6 per booster pack. I drove out to the store, excited, only to arrive at the store to be told that they were not allowed to sell any product until tomorrow, and I should come back. I told them I understand that the event is tomorrow, but I called in, spoke to someone, drove all the way down to the store, could we possibly come to an arrangement where I'd be allowed to buy a limited number of packs, or pay today for pickup tomorrow? The answer was no, and that if I wanted product, despite being told to come down, that they had it available, was that I would have to come back, pay for the pre-release event and then maybe they'd be able to sell me product. The last event I attended here was a catastrophe, nobody knew what was going on, it started late, the whole event was a haphazard mess. Let me go on further to state that I went to a pre-release event at their competitor, The Side Deck, and not only did that go over great, I was treated like a customer, a friend, even, I felt welcome, I was sold product (limited, but I understand that.) The pre-release was organized, friendly, and a great experience. Short of this business taking a chance to reach out to someone who used to be a very valuable customer, I can't do it anymore, I am tired of the hassles, the confusion, and being dragged out for nothing. I will be updating this review one week from today (11/12/25) to let people who see this know whether or not the store reached out to make this right - if they choose to do so, awesome, this will be updated, and I will accept that accidents happen to the best of us, and fences can be mended. The right thing to do would've been to offer to sell me a limited amount of product. (I understand if there is a release coming, product can't be sold in bulk, but selling a few boosters would've been the right answer.) read more

When I travel for work, I like to visit local game stores to see what they have (the FLGS in my neck of the woods has a very small selection). I was totally blown away by the amount of board games, war games, RPG's, and TCG's they had available. Not to mention a ton of accessories and expansions. Also, a wide selection of collectibles (my wife might not shop for board games, but she'd love the Jim Shore figurines). Everything was very reasonably priced as well. I wish I lived closer because the space for gaming was huge, and the staff was extremely polite and friendly as well. I'll definitely be back! read more

This place used to be a premire place to buy MTG singles. Now they have a terrible system where you wait for close to an hour to get 2-3 cards pulled. Save yourself the hassle and order online. It would almost be quicker. The staff has almost zero knowledge of the cards either. This used to not be the case. Also, they simply don't respond to emails when sent to them. I LOVE THIS GAME STORE. First of all - coin arcade games?!?! And an amazing Lord of the Rings pinball game??!?! Dude, I'd come here all the time if I lived nearby. You can go to the cash register to get quarters, so even better. Brilliant game selection, with lots of toys. My companion got some amazing D&D figures that other stores sold out of. There's also a giant area in the back to play games and have tournaments. Staff were amazingly friendly and did a great job at explaining the set up and helping us find things. read more

I LOVE board games and playing them with friends. What a joy to find this gem of a store and hangout spot right in my Columbia backyard! They have expanded from what it looks like and the place is huge. The whole front half of the store is full of for-purchase board games, tabletop supplies, puzzles, figurines, magic cards, etc. And the entire back of the store is full of open tables and a FREEEEE board game demo library where you can pop in, grab a game, and sit down with friends to play a round or three. I've heard you can also bring in food/snacks and drinks if you like. I loved seeing so many people enjoying games. Will be becoming a regular here for sure read more

Really came here cuz they had a nice selection of video games. Now they have this kiosk to search for games which only one person can look at a time. Had a few other friends stop coming here as well because we enjoyed seeing what they had but now cant really do that. read more

Since my previous, low-rated review, they moved to a new spot I have to say it's WAY better. Firefly is still a great family-friendly board game store that sells all kinds of games and has a nice arcade with well-maintained classic machines. The last time I went it was always hot and crowded, and some games didn't work properly but they have isolated everything. I played some Lord of the Rings pinball and House of the Dead 1, and while one of the guns may need a replacement (P2 works great) I was able to breeze the game without much trouble. While the pinball machines are pricey to play, they're in wonderful shape with hot flippers and bright lights. It is also a great place to bring some friends and play cards as well. Just a fun place and the staff is wonderful... and I'll look past the fact that their trade-in value for some items I tried trading in was low. Firefly Toys and Games is well worth the stop if you ever land in Soda City (Columbia). At least a high 4 on the new location. read more

It's not hard to figure out why people come to Firefly from miles around! An extensive inventory of contemporary board games (for kids & adults), card games (from Magic & Pokemon to Netrunner & Arkham Horror to Munchkin & Sushi Go), role playing games (such as D&D and Pathfinder), and related accessories including polyhedral dice & bags, card sleeves & deck boxes, playmats, miniatures and painting supplies, component replacements & upgrades, and much more. There were even some vintage video game components. There's a vast area of gaming tables where people can play their games, some snacks & beverages available for purchase, and even several demo games to try before buying. Prices for new games still in print are almost always manufacturers' suggested retail price, not marked up as some stores do. In my opinion, it's well worth paying MSRP to keep such an incredible resource as Firefly in the area. If they don't have what you're seeking, they'll order it. There are also some used and clearance items available, as well as collectible items. All the staff members I talked with were friendly and helpful. Though I was just browsing and looking for a couple of particular items, I definitely got the impression they'd be happy to make suggestions or help with other questions. While some game stores & comics shops are not especially welcoming to women and children, I got the impression that Firefly welcomes everyone who's interested in games. Whether you're looking to get something for family game night, for a night out with friends, for your collection, or whatever you're into, this is a terrific game store. My problem with this place is the covid precautions they are taking, which is none. Not only do they not require masks, not a single employee wears a mask either and they don't respect personal space when coming to offer help. I was wearing a mask and the salesperson came right up to me to chat. Literally within 1-2 ft from my face. I kept backing up to show my discomfort and eventually just had to leave. They have a great selection of games, most are more expensive than what you would find at target or amazon but that's expected for a smaller and local business. I like to support local businesses, but not at such a high risk. Get with the program. read more

If you're a fan of board games and video games alike, then you'll be in hog heaven when you visit Firefly! I didn't have a lot of time the day I came in, but I did manage to squeeze in an engaging game of Skull. Portions of the space were dedicated to arcade machines, and there's even a blacklit pinball room! The knowledgeable staff were a delight, and they told me about some of Firefly's ongoing philanthropic activities, like game marathons to raise money for their local children's hospital, and gratis game nights that they host for students at local schools. It's really unfortunate this one of two gaming stores that cater to Magic the Gathering. On multiple occasion I've had a really uncomfortable experience where I felt like I was being a nuisance or the staff wasn't interested in taking the time to help me. It isn't every time. But, the inconsistency is extremely bothersome. Also, if you're trying to sell your cards or trade in things, the rates aren't particularly competitive. I've since stopped trying to sell anything to them so that I don't suffer a huge undercut. You'd be better off trying to sell them yourself on eBay, or something to that effect. Also, some of their offerings are priced a little higher than I find to be very competitive, as well. Overall, it's a great space. They recently changed locations, and the new place is huge and set up really nicely. They offer tons of other things related to your nerdy needs; board games, warhammer, video games, soft huggable things, dice, other card games, etc... they're selection is pretty nice. It's just a shame that they aren't consistent on providing a welcoming environment. read more

If you like Pinball, go. No excuses, go now! This place is a mecca for gamers of all types. I went for the pinball. When I walked in, I scanned the place to get oriented. The first area inside the door was a retail space. In the middle of the store were long tables where people were playing board and electronic games. There was a Warhammer tournament going on. In the back corner on my left through a window, I saw the blinking back boxes, a little hidden, but still inviting. When I walked up the slight ramp into the pinball room, my disbelief stopped my breath as if I was staring at an alien because I was! In front of me was Medieval Madness, next to that LOTR, and next to that Attack from Mars. I looked around a bit more and saw a Star Trek and Twilight Zone. In this small room are 4 of Pinside's top 10. Four! In one location. It's crazy. (Medieval Madness, Attack from Mars, Twilight Zone, Lord of the Rings) So excited, I forgot to count how many machines they have, more than ten, though. And, they weren't just playable! They played beautifully, near perfectly. Someone takes a lot of pride caring for these machines, or they should. I didn't have time to play every machine, but peeking at them they looked like they were all in the same high quality condition. Sidenote: With the exception of Gorgar, there weren't vintage machines that cling, clang and whirl as they add up scores. Cost is $1 per play or $2 for 3 credits making it a good value for players with skill. It can be pricey, though, if like the guy next to me, you are trying to teach your 5 year old daughter that draining the ball and banging the flippers are bad. Behind the counter were snacks, sandwiches and drinks for sale. A soda was reasonably priced a $1. I didn't notice the prices of the other items. Would I go back? Heck, yeah!! First, store was full of people without masks. So...even if the following hadn't happened I wouldn't be returning. Asked about the upcoming Digimon Card Game in person and on the phone and got the equivalent of a shoulder shrug. This also isn't the first time staff have shown a complete lack of interest in or knowledge of what may or may not be in their store. Once they got the Digimon TCG in (low stock, no fault of their own) they are selling it only at scalper prices and well above the average even at that level. $200 for a booster box with an MSRP of $80 is an insult. You're not going to build a player base with prices like that and even if they get better stock in later and sell at MSRP I won't be buying from here anymore. read more

Been visiting Firefly for years now, love it still! Lots of tables and space to go and play with your family and friends, or maybe make new friends while you're there. You can bring your own games, or play the free games in their library. I've never once felt pressured to make any purchase or been made uncomfortable by staff, and tbe customer base is friendly too. Definitely stop by here at one of their events, play games with friends, or just peruse the large selection of tabletop and video games. read more

Huge gaming store! This has about everything you could look for in a local gaming store. Huge gaming area? Check. Miniature models? Check. Board games? Hope you have an extra 30mins to look at all of em... Check. Miniature paints? Check (Vallejo Game Color, Citadel, and P3). Other hobby supplies? Ok, I dont know much about this culture or play any board or card games or whether the inventory or prices were low or high, but on a week night around 8pm the place was packed with happy people busy hanging out and playing games.
