Average experience, pricing makes no sense, Hollister and American Eagle jeans are expensive than typical sales and Hollister promo codes easily found online! Plato's seems to be in its own little world, many shoes I've seen here are not worth their price at all even in decent condition, again shop a little on eBay and much better deals abound. What is also very weird is similar condition shoes brought in to sell are rejected, they told me too worn out, why not just tell me you have no shelf space or something? Or make a low ball offer? The four items they did accept were given decent prices, always feels like an early Christmas to get cash from someone, but I wish they had an online option, upload photos and state condition for an estimate. There's no way you're going through my twenty items in a ten minute time to determine the condition. Again the items I've seen on shelves across stores from Plato's in Fort Wayne to Peoria Illinois over the years make no sense or pricing logic for what I am offered when I try to sell. Brought an all name brand, hardly worn, perfect condition, top trending rubbermaid tote to this location today. After being told our buy was done...just not rang in yet we come back. Still not done. When I heard the words "We can offer you $18" I internally gasped. The first thing I pull out of my unselected items was a "BKE" (Buckle), button down, shacket. (Hence the season) I asked her "for example, why was this a pass? No stains, not old?? The female that went through my buy answers "it's just cheap, like the buttons on it too, and also we don't take Buckle! Um..you have before ? Safe to say, I don't think you've ever shopped there chick. Just because your style is definitely not the same as mine (very much obvious) does NOT mean my name brand items will not sell. I saw you put that jacket back into the tote after it was already selected by another coworker! I wish I could give this Platos closet a zero they are completely ridiculous I've brought brand new/freshly washed clothes multiple times and they've told me they are dirty or have hair/stains on them. i have asked the employees to show me where they have seen stains or any hair and they can't because they're freshly laundered and clean. do not take your clothes here they rip you off big time. read more

The only thing is they give you very little at all for items you bring in to sell. Their prices are sorta high on clothes.

Plato's Closet is OK. They definitely cater to the teen demographic, so people with more sophisticated tastes in fashion probably wouldn't find anything to buy. But, it's a good place to sell the crap you don't want. They're pretty fair with the prices since it's all computerized, which is nice. The store is also pretty well organized and clean with a selection of both mens and juniors clothing with quite a few accessories. If you're into brands like Abercrombie and Hollister, I guess I would recommend you go there since they sort of pride themselves on carrying those brands. It beats going to the actual store - no ridiculously loud music and fairer prices. Personally, I prefer stores like Buffalo Exchange or Crossroads over Plato's. read more

They have a nice selection of clothes, the staff is friendly, they give you good prices for your clothes, and they give back to the community. I mentioned just taking the clothes they didn't want to goodwill and the young man working informed me that I could donate the clothes to Plato's and they give them to local high schools for free. Truly giving back to the community and helping people out. I didn't have to carry the clothes back to my car or anything. This is huge and from now on I am going to promote this store to everyone I know. Way to go Plato's. read more

I took a lot of really nice name brand clothes that they specifically list on their website as brands they love and they hardly accepted anything. Some of the items were even brand new with tags. When I asked them why they didn't accept more of my items no one could give me an actual answer. They said the person who went through my items had already left... waste of time. read more

Great place to buy clothes, wouldn't recommend for selling. I brought in a few dresses and shirts from Old Navy and Maurice's. All of them, bought within the few months and they didn't take any of it because it was 'too nice'. Also had a Nike jacket and Nike sneaks, and they offered me only a few dollars for them. They don't carry enough skinny jeans in bigger sizes then 8's and they are horrible customer service! Don't go there to sell your clothes they will tell you there's stuff wrong with them even if there ain't and they are still in style or they will tell you it's to nice. I've spent so much money here because it's one of the only places my boyfriend can find cheaper name brand clothes. But I really loved this store and it was one of my favorite locations even though they never had great customer service. The kids would all just chat behind the counter. I will never step foot in the store though after they sold me Valentino flats for $100 that they said were authentic and had the retail price of $700. I went home that day and after doing a little researching found out they are fakes. I hate not knowing if I can trust a store. Not only is it illegal but bad for customers. What also sucks is shoes are no return and I don't even live in that state if I was going to return it, this was just a stop I made every time I went into town. Unless you want cheap preteen clothes that cost the same as retail, avoid this store. read more

They will buy clothes from you if they aren't more than a year old...but they will barely give you anything for them. I'd rather sell my stuff on ebay or give it to a thrift store. I have never found anything there worth buying, but I've only bothered looking 2 or 3 times. read more

Plato's Closet STOLE my clothes and jewelries at least 4 times!!!!!!!! I can't believe how they are still having business and shit. it pisses me off that the prices they offer is ridiculously high for used clothes and the jeans price is even higher than the mall. they think we are morons! if you are looking for something for halloween or just wear it once, go there and get yourself a cheap outfit. if you are smart, go to the mall and check out the sales and clearance. we all know the clothes at mall are not previously owned and sometimes they have great prices and at least they dont stink like shit... read more

Had an incident at this platos closet where an angry customer called me inappropriate things for accidentally assuming her dressing room was open. Multiple apologies from staff and a gift certificate came after. Staff handled the situation very well and were very courteous. Will be returning because of that alone. read more

Great place to buy used brand name items at a somewhat reasonable price. I would not recommend selling here, though. They give you VERY little money for good items. I myself would rather sell through eBay, vinted, and poshmark (selling apps). Especially if you have good clothes. Every time I've went into the Lafayette store the associates are extremely rude and not helpful whatsoever. I'm a customer that respects the customer service and at this particular location there is NONE. The managers are even rude. I hate to even ask for a fitting room without feeling like I'm putting out the associate. When your checking out all the associates continue on their conversations with eachother and don't say a word to you (did you find everything ok?...etc.) I have had the absolute worst experiences with this store. They completely treat the customers like dirt. read more
