When exploring the counties in Central Indiana, I always try to find gift shops or antique stores…read morethat might be independently operated. I found this shop tucked away in a strip mall on the near south side of Crawfordsville and was delighted. From the moment I stepped in, I noticed the pleasant aroma of candles and the comfortable appeal of country chic decorations and gifts. The main room has the check out counter facing the door in the center of the room, so you can explore to either side: Lots of candle varieties including some made in state, lots of items with clever witticisms to make you think or smile, women's bags, wall hangings, and seasonal (Easter) pieces to add some charm to your home. And when you think you've seen it all, there is another room to the left that has even more items including rugs, lap quilts, and other cloth items. More seasonal items were out in preparation for the weekend sale. The woman who was working apologized for the store being in transition, but it was still neat enough that I wouldn't have known there was anything out of place unless she had told me. She let me browse and asked how I had heard about the shop. I was surprised that nobody had reviewed her store yet on Yelp. When I was ready to make a purchase, she immediately stopped what she was doing so that I didn't have to wait. That's a person who gets customer service. Nice selection, fun things to look at, and good service. Check this place out if you like looking for unique things for your home or as gifts. Review #3744

This store is full of wonderfully and carefully curated items, and most of these items wanted to follow me home. But these things would also make great gifts for a loved one, if you're looking for a gift. This boutique store has a lot of things for kids, which is neat. There's a whole little section just for kids' clothing and accessories. Mostly, though, you'll find women's clothing, women's accessories, plus random things like candles, handbags, bath bombs, hair clips and things like that. There are a lot of cool things at Scout, and you're bound to find the perfect thing that you didn't know you needed.

It reminds me of the kind of boutiques I would shop when I lived in Chicago and Austin and that I miss. Scout carries a fun variety. There is top quality vintage furniture and home goods with plenty of new products as well. You can find Baggu reusable bags, fun stationary, quirky gifts like Queer Eye or Golden Girls candles, stickers, and keychains. Today there was even a plant pop-up shop. The owner is the operator and is very friendly. I truly hope this store does well as it fills a niche here in Lafayette that we don't have otherwise. I only worry that not enough people know about this little gem. My only "complaints" would be that I want MORE! More hours (right now they're only open from Wed-Sat 10-3 which means I can only make it on a Saturday) and more inventory! More stationary, and small inventory.

He told us the the building originally was a chicken hatchling house. The original sign hangs behind his counter. The store is extensive yet easy to get around. Glassware is nicely displayed. The upstairs is filled with furniture. He carries an interesting selection of old pipes and campaign buttons. There is also a few nice restaurants on the square if you'd like to dine while there. Peddler's Alley was close to the square so we stopped to check it out. The building is much larger than it appears from the outside. Convenient parking is in front of the shop. I was warmly greeted as I entered and I immediately headed to a gorgeous fireplace mantle close by. The grouping was gorgeous with the mantle, area rug, chandelier, willow branches, rocking chair and other home decor items. The large shop has several rooms filled with mid-century furniture, prints, lamps, home decor, candles, glassware, stained glass and so much more. If you enjoy browsing or looking for something specific stop in Peddler's Alley and explore this clean, well organized shop. The owner is friendly and helpful but allows you to browse at your spend. Stop in.

Displays are well spaced apart so you're not bumping into other shoppers. Or as in our case, room for my friend to walk easily between displays with her walker. The owner was kind enough to allow her to sit on several chairs as she needed to rest a few times while browsing the shop. (Side effects of Covid-19). Currently the Easter decor is the holiday being displayed throughout and it is adorable. The varies types of bunnies with different hair and faces are so fun. If you're decorating for Easter she has adorable pieces to set the holiday mood in your home and centerpieces for your dining table. The furniture is gorgeous, priced well, versatile and perfect for many home decor styles. You'll also find colorful rugs, amazing lamps, bowls, blanket chests, wardrobes, ceramic pieces, glassware, wreaths, phenomenal artifical floral arrangements in all colors and would work in so many places in a home. So many things that it's impossible to mention it all. The owner was very friendly, answered questions, allowed us to browse freely and at our pace. As I mentioned before she allowed my friend to sit on the furniture when she couldn't walk any further which was so kind of her. She has an Open House this week so try to attend if you're free.
