I would recommend to anyone to not sell your clothes at this location. My girlfriend and I came in about a week ago and sold some clothing and they said they would message us. About a week later we got nothing and called back, and they told us that it was ready to pick up and we came in a day after and was told that there was a time limit on holding things which were never expressed to us, donated everything that was brought in and were not interested in and then wouldn't pay us the amount they said over the phone for the clothing they did take. I took in a large bin of items, most were brand new with tags, shoes, clothes, swim suits, tote bags/purses, jewelry, and they took 3 items for $5.80. One of the items they took was $33 new with the tags and they gave me no more than $2. I used to bring a lot of stuff here when I was in high school and they would take a lot and give me a decent fair price but it's just not the same anymore. I don't shop here anymore because the clothes are not in style and one item I bought had a hole in it yet they want "new or gently used clothes" ‍ I look at the clothes on the racks and think how did they take this but not mine. This place has really nice clothing for super reasonable prices! It's also one of the biggest Plato's I've been in. I always find nice polo shirts for my husband. They have nearly new shoes, all sizes of clothing (including plus sizes), purses, accessories, and more. You can also drop off clothing here and they will go through it to see what they want to buy from you. I haven't done this yet so I can't explain the experience of selling clothes to them, but I've never walked out of there empty handed! read more

While I enjoy thriftijg here, i dont appreciate the emploees attitudes. Went in yesterday with stuff for consigning sbd they took NOTHING! The girl at the counter claimed it was "too old". (brand new A &F top), but it seems like everytime i try to consign items, i get the same excuse, which I'm tired of hearing. I think they're trained to say that. Then when i was in the changing room, I noticed a old, dirty and USED bandaid on the wall. When I told the girl?, she said "I'm sorry to hear that ", but she did nothing about it. All they do is is stand around and gossip. Aren't they supposed to be HELPING customers? That's their JOB! Not going back anytime soon. You're better off at CA or Salv Army. Go go Lancaster Platos!! not here!! Took 2 bins of brand new with tags clothes, they told me it was done after 5 minutes while the store was chaotic and full. I found a pair of jeans to buy so I went up and got the bins after, the girl told me they didn't take anything because it was "outdated" LOL! I mentioned to the girl the same heeled booties on their racks is a brand new pair in one of my bins so how is it out dated??? I went the next day with the same bins to Lancaster Platos and they took almost every piece of clothing and shoes I had. This Plato's is a joke. NEVER GOING BACK! not to mention when I got back home the bottom of every bin was still folded so they just messed up the top of the bin to look like they did something but they didn't. This poor store is stuck in 2015 unfortunately! Such a shame that the workers have such outdated tastes in what people want to wear (hence every rack being jam packed with clothes to the point where you can't move the hangers). The racks are overflowing with mainly fast fashion and tacky prints/graphics. This location needs a major revamp to the current trends or they just need to close. read more

I took a box of clothing there, good condition, some even with tags. I'd say maybe 12 items. They took 4, and gave me $6.80. I asked about why they didn't take certain items, and they said things such as "we don't really sell this type of thing," which was incorrect, because I did see it there. I also had a pair of shoes that they were selling an identical pair, and when I asked about them, they said that mine looked worn. Mine were in better condition that what they were selling. A lot of the items there look like rags and kind of irks me that they weren't willing to accept more of what I was selling. Will not be going back to shop or sell. read more

I came to this store with such high hopes!! I ended up purchasing items from this store, was not told about the "No Returns" return policy. Brought them back because they all had missing button, giant holes, stains, or pilling. I even found a bodysuit with bodily fluids in the crotch area! The store was dirty, and the employees did little to correct the mistake made by their poorly trained employee. Now I'm out $70!!! The return policy is manipulative, (they have it this way to make sure people "keep coming back"). Well, yeah! Not because they want to though!! Because they have to. Firstly, the variety in the store is rather lacking. Especially in larger sizes. Secondly, they get teens to operate the store on weekends and evenings who have their own prejudice about certain brands, styles, and even the person who brings in the clothes. I'm 28, so maybe to a 17 year-old I'm old. Plato's Closet near me is way too picky about what they take. One time I brought in at least 25 pieces of clothing...some of which I had bought at Plato's previously, and one still had the Plato's tag on it. There was Forever21, Mossimo, Old Navy, and other popular name brands. THEY TOOK NONE OF IT. They said it was "too mature" and "too business like". At least 5 of the pieces of clothing were from THEIR OWN STORE, and some of that I wore to the office!! Ive forten business casual appropriate clothing there, so I have no idea what they're talking about. I just recently went back again to try and sell. I was told recently by one of their managers that they were specially looking for jeans and sweatshirts/sweaters for Back-to-School. They took only 1 shirt out to 10-15 items of clothing. Apparently Old Navy slim fit jeans are "too mature" as well as American Eagle shirts. They rejected Gloria Vanderbilt jeans too! They've sold that name brand before as well. They always look like they're in need of jeans and yet they reject decent name brand and good quality pairs. I will not sell or shop here again. I'm done, I've had enough of their BS. read more

Hi. If someone would like to remind me how Platos Closet works, that would be fantastic. Last I checked, it works as follows. They buy lightly used clothes from people who bring them in, look through them, deciding what they would like to take, and then sell those clothes at a lower price to shoppers. My experience on August 14, went a little differently. I brought in 3 bags of very nice clothes varying across a few different categories: some guys clothes, some women's clothes, and some more trendy clothes. We had everything from American Eagle Jeans to Express tops, much of the items being under 2 years old, like they request. (Also their most common reason for not taking something which is usually a lie) I folded them all nicely in the bags just before taking them in. We dropped the bags off and within 10 minutes got a text they were ready. Little sketchy since there were 3 bags of clothes to look thru. Whatever. We went in to pick them up only for them to tell us they couldn't take anything because the styles were all too old. Lie. Whatever. We took out clothes out to the car and realized there is no possible way they looked thru any of our clothes because they were in the EXACT same order I put them in the bags and folded perfectly. We went back inside and asked if they even looked thru the bags, considering they looked untouched, oh, cuz they were... and the 3 awestruck teenagers at the counter said "well if we see stuff on top that looks like stuff we wouldn't take it, we don't look thru the bags". They didn't defend themselves at all because they knew they didn't look through the bags. Again, would like to know if this is how the Platos Closet business model works. If anyone knows of a new rule at Platos closet that says they don't have to look in your bags if they can see from the top that it looks like stuff they wouldn't take, please let me know :) In conclusion DO NOT GO TO THIS PLATOS CLOSET. Apparently they don't have to look thru the bags you bring in, so it'll be a waste of your time. Takeaways-- put your Fendi purse on top so they'll look thru your stuff read more

I took in 7 garbage bags full of clothes, all designer brand and all in excellent condition. Waited 2 hours for their text that I could come back. They handed me all 7 bags back, and I got a whopping $7 (I think they took two sweaters). Their explanation was that they only take anything that has been in style for the last 1-2 years. When I looked at the stuff they did keep, it was stuff wayyy older than 1-2 years and I knew darn well that there was new, designer stuff in those bags. Didn't make any sense. On another note, I don't even like to shop here anymore because TWICE when I was in the fitting room, I've had staff members knock on the door, I say something, and they still try to unlock and open the door. One time I was shirtless and literally holding the door shut while someone was trying to open it. They've definitely lost a customer. read more

Absolutely favorite clothes at a discount price. Always can find something way different then the norm. This is my daughters go to place for all seasons. You get something for every season. The employees are sweet and most of the time super friendly. It can be a little overwhelming because they have so much stuff, so everything is a little crammed in. We have shopped here several times in the past year and always find something to take home with us. Typically they have lots of inventory, always in good condition and priced fair. They seem to add more items daily. We have also consigned with them and while we didn't make a lot of money, we felt what they offered us was fair. It couldn't be easier... take your stuff in, no appointment needed,?they look it over and make you an offer for the items they want to keep. Cash on the spot, which is so convenient. My only complaint is that the space in the store is very tight and quickly feels congested if there are others shoppers. They could use a bigger space. read more

You are better off taking your clothes to an actual consignment shop then going to this terrible place...I really feel that they are against more full figure size customer's and their clothing. I tried selling there and they only took one shirt and said my clothing was "too old" or "too worn". Which made me laugh looking at the items in their store... I always read reviews before shopping anywhere. I have found that the most common negative reviews of Plato's Closet are people trying to consign...upset that they're not getting any money for their old cheap clothes. Fact of the matter is, Plato's has an idea of what sells and they buy accordingly. I'm sure that there are some instances when ignorant employees or dishonest employees buy/don't buy when they should/shouldn't, but I really don't think this is the norm. I think seller reviews should be separate from buyer reviews. While some of the merchandise is definitely crap, you can find a lot of good brands at great prices, sometimes even new with tags. Bottom line: if you are pinching pennies, they probably have the latest and best styles for your budget! read more

We took 3 totes of clothes in to sell with nice clothes in it. They told us it would be 45 minutes. So we came back and they didn't even go through our clothes. They just gave us $4 for 2 pairs of shoes. The totes literally were not touched. TALK ABOUT LAZY PEOPLE AND A WASTE OF TIME! I went in to try to get some money for my old clothes, all was well and I gave them my phone number to get a text when they were done going through my clothes and they said it would take about 45 minutes, so I stayed in the area. I never got a text and they said that sometimes there text system doesn't work and they don't know why.......After about two hours I decided to go back in the store. Out of my at least 25 pieces of clothing they only took 1 item and gave me $3.90. So if you ask me, donating clothes there is a waste of time. read more

Just took a tote full of clothes that we barley worn. I had winter coats that were from old navy that were bought within a year, and some formal dresses for dances that were bought this year and worn one time. They told us that they couldn't take any of our stuff because the dresses were to fancy and the coats were to old, but remind you while I waited for them to look through my stuff I saw fancier dresses that looked like they came from a flea market or picked up on the side of the road. I will never shop there and I will never recommend this place to anyone! It's a horrible company. read more
