Prior to visiting the store I researched it after being told about it from a coworker. I read all the brands they take and made sure that most of my items I packed were those brands besides a few things. I first visited the store on a Saturday around 6. I was told they were out of cash and to come back tomorrow around 11 when they open. Before I left my house the next day I called and asked if they had cash they said no the banks are closed they can't get cash. (Makes sense) They said to come Monday or Tuesday. Monday I go and they tell me to fill out the yellow paper, provide ID and leave my stuff. I ask them the process of everything because what do you mean provide ID and leave my stuff. They say we need your Id number for in store paperwork which made me feel very uncomfortable as I didn't see any signs or anything online asking for that. However I proceed to fill it out. I then ask what's the next step after leaving it. (This should be explained upon Initial contact without me asking) I make it down and back one aisle before they tell me they can't take anything because it's more clothing made for women versus teens. Now I have a huge basket of clothing, there's no way the young lady made it halfway through my basket. I had about 10 dresses that could be used for homecoming, graduation etc. What's even more confusing is I had champion, Nike, lulu, Michael Kors, Fashion Nova, Adidas etc. I also had a lot of SHEIN which she said they don't take yet it's listed on the website. Now I know I'm not a teen but I work at a high school and what the kids wear there on a daily is what I wear on my days off ! Their clothing selection is dismal and it's so packed together that you can hardly even look at anything. The people that work there don't pay any attention to the customers don't offer help or ask if you're looking for anything in particular they just gossip up at the front of the store. Also, they pay no money for clothing. They'll give you $.30 for a $200 pair of jeans. It's almost criminal. read more

So, read everything on their website and maybe call ahead to make sure they are buying when you are selling. This will save you some hassle. I drove 20 minutes into Mentor with my stack of clothes and there was a sign on the door that said, "we are not buying at this time." When I walked in to check, they told me it was because they did not have enough cash to offer payouts for clothes they bought. I learned a lesson, go earlier in the day. A week later, I was in Mentor so I stopped in with that same stack of clothes. I walked in and the counter attendant told me that I needed a basket or bin and they would not accept what I brought. I eyed a stack of bins behind the desk and asked if I could use one of theirs and she just looked at me. So, went out to car and luckily had a recyclable shopping bag for the clothes. I went back in and filled out the card, including my name, address and cell phone. She told me that I was the third in line so...I said, "So, do you text me when it's ready for offer?" And she says, no, we don't text. You will just have to come back and make sure it's before closing at 8pm. Seriously, how hard is to text the customer that their offer is ready. So, I go run errands and came back in 45 minutes. At time, they accepted 3 of my 10 items and paid me $12. I was fine with the offer, just wish the entire transaction would have been smoother. I have sold a lot of items to Half Price Books and The Exchange and I know that no cash offer is meant to be offensive or rude. In the case of Plato's: call ahead or get yourself an education online of what they will and will not take. Don't make a special trip. On a Saturday night (1/5/19), I arrived about 20 minutes before they were closing and I was informed that they won't buy anything during their last hour of business. They didn't even have the marquee lights on and I drove past Plato's because it was so dark. I shopped anyway and noticed a young clerk engrossed in her cell phone. My issue: I went back Sunday afternoon at two and a different clerk evaluated my three items in about 30 seconds. Before I could even fill out the required paperwork. While visit two was efficient, I noticed the same clerk from the night before, sitting in the same chair, lost in her cell phone again. How silly is it to cite these rules when you have someone sitting right next to you playing on their cell phone while other clerks are straightening out the racks and sweeping the floors? I was in dire need of jeans with holes for my daughter and found more than enough selection within Platos. very well organized by size and color. not to mention staff was super friendly and helpful in painting me in the right direction. I've been going into platos for a few years now and I've always had a good experience. Went in today and literally the rudest girls ever were working. (Right around my age maybe a little younger) Made rude comments when I dropped off and when I picked up my basket was on the ground and the stuff left over was spilling out with a few items laying on the floor? I get you made probably minimum wage but come on ladies it's not that hard to just be a decent person. read more

This place is...odd. These teenage girls think that this position is like they accepted the role of a vogue editor. Someone tell them this isn't The Devil Wears Prada, it's a secondhand store. They look each person up and down and judge their clothes when the drop off clothes. I'm cool with that, I rock sweat pants without shame. However, my boyfriend is a brand-whore and buys name brand because he gets a great work discount at the mall. These girls scrutinize every item and even once went over shoes with their phones flashlight, So it is ever so surprising when the racks are filled with misshaped shirts from target, unknown brands, and an alarming number of graphic t shirts with anything from spongebob, tapout, and Rick and Morty on them (no shame I shop mostly at target but I know Calvin Klein has a higher price tag and resale value) My meticulous boyfriend who immediately stain treats his clothes upon staining had me drop off a bag of clothes, as I wait taking in the second hand smell haphazardly covered with off-brand scent spray---think musty old man with linen background notes; I hear the girls asking if the coat dropped off was real leather (no,honey we would not bring that to a place stock with graphic ts-we would resell online) then judgmentally saying "Ya didn't think so", going over his like-new nikes and adidas with her flashlight to hopefully find a tiny stain invisible to the human eye, and the.bagging up his barely worn Calvin Klein, polo, and Ralph Lauren shirt in disgust. She then accepts 5 items, 2 of which are shoes that cost $70 each weeks ago and offers like $20. My boyfriend will accept the pathetic sum that's his issue for not selling online, but damn with the attitude especially if the stuff on your racks is so cringeworthy. Save yourself the scrutiny, we got $100 bucks for the items she deemed unworthy on letgo. read more

This place of business doesn't even deserve one star, worst customer service I have ever experienced. I do understand this is a resale shop, I've been to other platos before so I expected the same kind of courtesy and good customer service. I was totally wrong, I don't think that it's appropriate to try on clothing behind the cash wrap, shopping while on the clock and even ridiculing clothing that they are looking to buy especially if you can hear the associate talking crap on you or the things that had been brought in, this place is a joke. The best was when I had brought in a brand new coach bag and they had offered five dollars and had accused me of it being fake when it clearly had a serial number on the inside to verify it being authentic. To all of you reading this do not go here, take the extra trip to lyndhurst or even strongsville where they actually have manners! read more

The pricing is very reasonable and the stuff is looked at well before putting it on the shelves. The staff are always very friendly too! read more

For March 20th I entered this location at approximately 5:30 to sell a brand new pair of boots. Being that the store does not close until 6 o'clock on Sundays I was confident that I had enough time for the transaction. The young lady and told me that at 5:30 this location does not do any buy back after 5:30. by this being my first time in your establishment I was upset and I don't know if I will ever bring any of my merchandise and or shops your establishment again. read more

I don't understand the one negative review. I literally have been here multiple times that they all know me on a first name basis, and those who don't know my face right away. The girls that are there are very nice and do not ridicule people about their clothing choices. I have received nothing but nice compliments. It might be your personality that makes people angry, but on the other hand back to the store. This store has an amazing selection of clothes that are relatively cheap. I love the fill your bag saturdays that they randomly have because it is so awesome! The store is nicely organized, but like any discount store you have to dig through the rack, if you are impatient then go to Macy's and spend double the amount. I literally love this store, I buy an outfit every paycheck and my closet is now full of namebrands and some of them are really expensive name brands. You just have to make sure that you arrive on that lucky day and find something. I will keep supporting this store and always love the friendly faces behind the counter.
