Plato's closet has gone downhill and it's really disappointing. They have no posts online about their "bin" policy, you have to have your things in very specific bins (I'll attach a photo to my post) The entire store is filled with SHEIN clothes for $8-10 each... They don't buy ANYTHING, name brand things, tags still on them, and they don't buy them. They also don't fold things up and get mad when your bag is "too full" - overall the service is bad and the quality of clothing at the store is poor read more

Bug eyed broad on 90th very snotty and jumping through hoops i just wanted to drop some clothes.

This store was recently remodeled and has a great vibe. The aisles are a little cramped since they have SO much to look at! There is hardly ever a line for dressing rooms even when I go on the weekend. The items they will buy are very hit or miss based on their inventory/needs, but they usually take $20-40 for 10-20 items when I bring a big tub in. They often are backed up and end buys early--almost always posting this on social media so customers are aware. The price and selection of items is great, I've shopped here for years and a lot of my wardrobe has lasted as long despite being bought used and at a discount! Some items are still pricy for what you get, but probably 80% of the time I know I'm getting a good deal. The staff here is the best part in my opinion, as it's gotten so much better over the years. It is clear that turnover is down as I recognize faces often and that never used to be the case. Overall I highly recommend coming in if you are looking for juniors/trendy styles. They also have a great selection for men these days! read more

It's okay, it's maintained the midlevel thrift shop since I was in highschool. IT seems the only thing that hasn't changed is their staff, they're oddly rude, and intimidating. I feel like a bother when I'm in the store. Aside from that, the selections vary day to day I would imagine, I recently got 2 items from there, and they were nice. Just not my normal destination, I usually stop in after Eileens cookies. It's ever changing so no trip Is the same. I just wouldn't recommend selling here. read more

I'd give 0 stars if I could.You're better off setting up shop in your car in their parking lot than going in. Countless times over the years I've brought in popular brand clothing with tags still on them and even Michael Khors purses and jackets and they ALWAYS get turned down for some made up reason like being out of style yet walking around in there you'll find clothing with stains, wrinkly as heck or just plain tacky and years out of style. Clothes that belong at Goodwill or a trash bin, honestly. I'd love to know what their process REALLY is because this makes NO sense. They must have a set up where the employees buy their own clothes so they keep making the money themselves which is corrupt af. DO NOT waste your gas or time. read more

My first mistake was even walking in here. The second you hit the front door, you see how trashed it is. I walked in with my clothes to sell and there were PILES of clothes on the floor. A teenager rudely and very quietly and oddly said "we are not buying anymore". I turned around, went to clothes mentor and got a whole lot of money for my items. I mean.. you get paid for your clothes, so why not take them to platos? I would say plato's is a step up from goodwill because although their clothing is used, they are extremely (I mean EXTREMELY) picky about what they take vs what they don't take. The plus to Plato's is that you can find a ton of gold if you look hard, and they really do always have at least a few pieces that are worth the look. You can almost always find SOMETHING and it be a steal. The downside to Plato's is more in the experience as well as if you are someone taking in your clothes. Lets just say, expect them to take 3 things out of your 5 bags of clothes and give you a good $3.50 for it. Here's a trick : take LESS, and be specific about what you take in, and it will increase your chances of them taking more from your bag. This is not the place to take 5 bags of clothing... if anything it's a burden to them and they'll just try and plow through it, not giving your clothes much thought. I feel bad for the employees, they sort through 5 trillion clothes a day, but it is what it is. This is an overlooked thrift store that always has goodies - stop in! Try and sell clothes! They won't take any clothes unless it's in a reusable bag/ bin. Don't bother driving here with a trash bag full of clothes I guess.

This is supposed to be the place where you can beimg in gently used trendy clothes for cash. There are times they will take several pieces of clothes that were worth hundreds of dollars, and a year later, it's worth 7 dollars and change. If you don't mind getting pennies for your used clothes, arrive early since 10 people arrived with clothes, and they will tell you their worth within 4 hours of dropping off your clothes. Whatever is left, my advice is to donate to a good organization. read more

I had a terrible experience today. It was my first time bringing in clothes. I asked for help and was told to scan the code, so I did, and the employee turned around and started eating Hot Cheetos. I thought I was checked in - turns out I was not and I waited 2 hours for them to sort 10 items. They low-balled me on their offer because of their own communication issues. The amount of unprofessional attitudes I saw during my short time was insane - doordashing McDonald's and eating it while on the floor, wearing an AirPod while checking out customers, rolling eyes at my sister who politely asked to enter her phone number into the register. Came in around 5 pm and they told me they were done buying used clothes for the day and would start back up at 10am the next day. I showed up the next day around 11:30 and they told me they wouldn't start buying clothes until 4pm. don't bother trying to sell anything here they don't want anything more. sign on the door changes all day everyday. no possible way to know when to come in. Workers are young and ALWAYS on their phones and/or have ear buds in. Very relaxed environment which I understand as a former retailer manager, but does not present good to customers. I probably come twice a year and NEVER sell anything. They don't take anything or if they do it's 2 things for $8. Not very good. The store is extremely dirty everywhere. I am shocked and confused. I brought a whole bag of gently used designer items and they gave me a whopping $7 and only accepted a dress from target and Abercrombie.... The Plato's where I am from usually accepts items in good shape but this seemed more like Style Encore in terms of Picky-ness. Very strange. CALL AHEAD BEFORE YOU LEAVE IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO SELL CLOTHES. We have sold here several times. Many of the mostly young employees seem very judgmental and condescending. They also only buy certain types of name brands, and your clothes and shoes/accessories need to be in pristine condition. Call to find out what brands they buy. They do not buy Walmart brands and they have rejected all Lee's that we have called. They will gladly tell you what they are looking for. read more

Service is OK. It seems like mostly teenage staff and I've had times where I've gotten judgy looks from them. I've had a couple times that I have tried selling and they are done buying for the day. I've attempted to sell 4 separate times & all 4 times have been told they are done buying for the day. I called at opening they said they were buying, I told them I'm driving 45 min and then when I got here they were already done. Well, they bought a $2 clearance item I purchased from Walmart 2 years ago and a very thin dress that has no brand name on it and needs a slip, because it is see through. I always call before I come in to drop clothes off. I called and they said they were accepting bags, so I drove to the store (mind you, it's only 10 minutes). When I arrived, they were no longer accepting clothes. This store always has horrible customer service and I believe the only reason it is in business is because it is the only location in the city. Honestly don't sell your clothes here. Im not sure if I could've asked for my crewneck back, but after I dropped my clothes off and came back they gave me $10 for a $120 crewneck.... This place is a scam! Not only did they scam me they scammed my friend who gave her $200 jordan's and only got back less than $50 for them. Horrible customer service. I went there today to sell a never worn, no damage Lululemon tank top. It took them 2 whole hours just to look at it, then they notified me but didn't even tell me the price. So I went and they made me do so much verifying. Then finally they told me it was worth $6 ?! I bought this tank top for much more. But 6 dollars is outrageous. So I went to the Lululemon rack and found some pairs to try on. There fitting rooms are so tiny and crowded. I even found a hole in one of the leggings. So I told them and they said "okay? I can give you a discount" i told them i didn't want it i just wanted to tell them so no one else purchases a damaged clothing item. They told me to put it back. I am very upset with how my experience went. I drove a long way to get to the only Plato's closet in Omaha. I've heard all good things about buying stuff from them. As someone else mentioned below their staff was very inconsiderate when I was asking questions. I had never sold clothes to them before and their website isn't clear on any information. I am very upset as I not only drove to Paltos once but was turned away for a half an hour because they do not except donations until 3 pm. This wouldn't bother me but gas is almost 5 dollars a gallon. Needless to say. They didn't even look through my whole bag of clothes. They examined three items that were on the top of the bag then put them back. I'm very frustrated because I am currently a 17 year old dancer who is paying for an entire trip to Disney in December. I hope this helps someone see that the staff is unkind and it's not even worth taking clothes in to be looked at and stuck back in the bag. The staff told me that all of the items in my bag they had a surplus of. No where on their website did it state that they had too many of my items. I did not want to deal with any of this today. I used to love this store before today. I was almost done shopping , but needed to still try on clothes. I live an four and twenty minutes away so I don't get up here much. The employees walked up to us and said they are closing their store "due to getting their Wi-Fi fixed." I thought they meant later but no they meant now and everyone had to leave and couldn't even purchase their items. Told me they could put items on hold. As a business owner, this is absurd and the type of things you take care of AFTER business hours. I'm still very upset with the time I wasted in this store for nothing. This place is horrible! I went twice in early January, arrived at 9:15am (they opened at 9) only to be told both times they've reached their max on buying clothes!? So here it is the end of January and I called before going in, asking if I drive all the way out there if they would still be accepting clothes, the guy I talked to said they don't usually stop until noon. Then I said, is there still a two bag limit? The same guy told me it has to fit into two of their containers. So I arrived there with my 2 bag limit only to be told they won't accept my clothes in bags! WTH‼ Probably should have said that when I specifically asked about limits when I called in before I came in!!! None of the workers had customer service skills to help the situation! I asked if they could just take my clothes and I would run somewhere and get tubs for them to put whatever clothes that didn't sell back in the tub but they wouldn't even do that. read more

The staff is so rude! I came in and I have heard of selling your name brand clothes for cash over there and it was my first time so I was confused. They answered all my questions in a sarcastic and annoyed tone because I didn't know how to do the process for never being there. They acted like I had to know what to do before I came in. No regard for their customers needs. I was in the store with my 2 teenage daughters. One needed a restroom and the other was in the dressing room. Their customer restroom was out of order but their employee restroom was working. I asked if my daughter could use their employee restroom as I didn't want one of my daughters leaving the store without me. She told me there were things in their restroom they didn't want us using. I suggested they set their personal things aside to accommodate their paying clients until the other restroom is fixed. She got agitated and aske if I would like to speak with the owner. I said yes. The owner, I think her name is Kim came out as agitated as her employee and made it clear to me that they are not required by state law to provide a restroom for their customers. Maybe true but have a heart lady. We're paying customers keeping your doors open . I tried to appeal to her sensible side. That was a mistake. She treatened to have me removed from the store if I "kept arguing" Terrible way to run your store and it's a shame because my daughters and I used to love going there together. I don't think we'll be doing that anymore since they've shown they're not interested in the convenience or comfort of their customers. read more

The employees were super nice and helpful! They helped me find shoes I'm super excited for and the prices were awesome!! Got two epic pairs of boots and a long black skirt for under fifty, which is a steal considering how nice the boots are! I had a great experience. Store was clean, well staffed and beautiful. i enjoyed my shopping experience and would highly recommend shopping here if you enjoy a good thrift!
