They are trying to attract a younger more hip crowd and it's just not working. The girls that work there are absolutely clueless.

My son called because he wanted to sell a backpack of a clown when he goes there they said they cannot take it because he needed a bag that was number one. Then we got a bag from somewhere bring it back if we wait 15 minutes and all he got was 8 dollars destroy is a f****** rip off a joke. It was brand new still with the tag on it what they gave him was $8. And then they go and sell stuff there for more money than savers when I see stuff that is there that people don't need to savers for less this store is a joke. And then the staff that is there those two white girls they seem very racist.. and treating my son with such indifference that wasn't very professional. read more

Came in to sell some real leather boots and a brand new with tags wallet. Was offered 7 dollars. For both. SEVEN DOLLARS?? For real leather boots and a brand new wallet (see photo). Honestly one of the most frustrating resale stores I've been to. The staff act like customers bringing in clothes is a huge inconvenience even though that's literally the whole point of the store. The attitude alone makes the experience uncomfortable. They barely seem to look through items before rejecting them, yet somehow the racks are full of the same styles they claim they "can't take." The whole process feels really inconsistent and unfair. Customer service is also pretty bad. Employees seem stressed, management looks disorganized, and the overall vibe of the store just feels negative. It's not a welcoming place to shop or sell. There are way better resale stores around that actually treat customers with respect and are transparent about what they accept. I wouldn't waste my time here again. read more

I had a positive experience at this Plato's! Most Plato's I've been to have rude staff who seem inconvenienced by you trying to sell stuff but this staff was really kind and I got $80 for my haul. Not bad for Plato's! The selection was mid and I didn't end up purchasing anything. But I'd sell here again. read more

I walked in trying to sell a pair of Lululemon leggings and the girls greeted me which was great but when I told them I was interested in selling they told me very passive aggressively that I needed my item in a bag because she had "too much going on right now". I left because of how unprofessional it seemed. If having it in a bag was their policy and that was explained to me in a nice way I would've totally respected that and came back to sell my clothes. I came for the first time on 3/10/26, the place was clean and well organized. The 3 ladies working were extremely helpful and kind. After reading the previous negative reviews, I believe when people aren't getting what they want they immediately become defensive and rude. If you don't like what they offer, simply take your items home and sell them yourself. The people who work here are just doing their job and can't buy every item of clothing. Anyways, to the girls who were working today it was a positive experience and I hope people can be kinder to strangers. read more

Staff is very unpleasant Seems that they take what they want for themselves and give you a little to nothing for namebrand clothes that are brand new with tags do not recommend ever going there to sell your clothes. Finally got around to coming here since it opened. Time and time again when driving by I'd make a mental note to myself to stop by but never pulled in. I've got to say I'm pretty glad I did today! The store IS a little overwhelming when you walk in and see racks on racks on racks of clothing but for the most part everything is actually organized pretty well. Browsed the store for a bit, was able to try some things on and walked out with three pairs of shorts and two dresses for $32 dollars. One pair of shorts was from Express and another American Eagle so you KNOW one of them alone would have been at least $32 so that's a score in my book!! The girl behind the register was very nice and engaged with my two year old who was in my arms. Even gave her a little package of fruit snacks so she was her new bff LOL! One thing I will add to those who've not been here before is that they DID go bagless. So if you go and purchase a lot of items, either bring a bag or come with open and empty arms! I brought in 6 bags of perfectly good clothing. No stains no tears no problems bur after waiting an HOUR for them to go through my clothes a price them they told me they could only do a handful of my stuff for $7..... not to mention that the girls working there did not greet me when I came in with so many bags (it wasn't busy) and forgot who I was or why I was there when I returned only an hour later. Apparently the reason for not taking my clothes was because it was either 'not in season', 'to mature', or 'inside out'.... yes, they will not take your clothing if it is inside out. Terrible service, Allison was very rude when I walked in, didn't say hello or ask how I was. Why would I ever come back with service so horrible. I came in with a few pairs of shoes, they didn't take any one of them wasn't even worn, and they said it was to dirty even though there wasn't a mark on it. Worst run Plato's Closet. The ONLY positive is the store is clean and organized.. BUT Don't even waste your time trying to sell here , bring your stuff to another location and you will get at least double the $. If you are thinking of bringing your clothes here to get any type of money don't even waste your time. Walked in with a bag full of clothes and it was in a plastic bag which I've always come and sold my clothes that way and they told me that it Has to either be in a reusable bag or a tote so they turned me away I don't understand what kind of business turns people away for using plastic bags when in reality half of the clothes they'll probably take (if any) and half of the clothes Theyll give you back in the bag so not really understanding what the issue is there. Super inconvenient that I drove all the way here to be turned away at the door absolutely ridiculous. read more

I was very nervous about selling clothes here after reading all the reviews. I already dropped off my clothes the day before (in plastics bags like the stop and shop/walmart/target bags - zero problems there). I came to drop off the clothes, was greeted and taken care of right away, they said they'd text me once they go through it and give me an offer. It was too late to come back that day so I came next day. Once again was greeted and helped, I brought in 10 small bags. Brand names all great condition. They only took 3 leggings and offered $10 and some change for it. Took the rest back and they informed me that they are just overstocked on many items. They were very nice and professional. I asked what they do need and lack? And they mentioned men's clothing is needed, and women's athletic, graphic tshirts and a little bit on baiting suits. They said they have more than enough jeans so they don't even need to look at them, even if it is brand names. I left satisfied with the cost for only 3 items, thought it was fair. read more

Came to Plato's for their grand opening sale! They offer cash for clothing, no checks like other stores. They gave me a fair price for what I brought in, the wait was very long but that was because they were really busy, they offer text phone alerts when your order is complete. Great selection for just opening, I got a few cute pieces for work, they have a lot of sizes including a lot of larges. Sizes are mostly juniors. Large selection of athletic wear and they even have a men's section. The clerk told me they are actively seeking menswear to purchase. Store was larger and cleaner than I have seen other places, I will definitely be coming here because it is easy to get to from the highway and closer to me then Enfield Connecticut! read more

always ask them to print a slip of how much they're selling your item at and how much they're giving you for it. they're suppose to give you 20% of the price they're selling it for. they will lie to you and lowball the crap out of you if you just walk in there and take any amount they let blurt out their mouth. do not let them play you. they'll low ball brand new things but have things with holes , lint and items that literally STINK on their shelves that's why NO ONE buys at Platos ONLY sells lmfaoooo. don't let them lie to you or play on your head y'all. I also wanted to add onto what everyone else is saying in EVERY REVIEW those girls are snobby and rude and they DO look at you like your dumb ( only because they're lowballing you for your clothes ). You'd be better off to donate your clothes to a non-profit and take a tax credit. I brought about $150 worth of new and almost new clothes and shoes. They offered $15. That's $.10 on the dollar! I took back a $200 new cashmere sweater that they offered $5 for. read more

They don't take anything, you're better off selling your clothes online or just giving them away to Goodwill. A bunch of clothes i went to sell were name brand like Pink, H&M, etc and they gave them back to me. The same jacket i have in Pink was brought back to me, but they had the same one in display. A white female went through my clothes and went through my TWO BAGS very fast; also, she seemed to be a bit racist and gave me and my sister dirty looks. DO NOT COME HERE ! Let me start by saying DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. I had brought 3 bins of clothes, nicely folded and waiting 30 mins for the clothes check to be completed and was told that they were unable to take any of the items due to them "not being within today's fashion". I had plenty of Victoria Secret leggings, Old Navy, Abercrombie & Hollister jeans as well as several Windsor dresses. I accepted that they were unable to take the items but then the lady had returned all the items literally rolled in a ball, not even in the box I had delivered them in. They were hanging outside the box and on top and the folded clothes were thrown in the basket like dirty laundry. I was so surprised that the girl was actually returning the items to me like that and I said "seriously the least you could do is make them look somewhat neat, you guys went through all of this to tell me you can't take any items? I would have rather you look at it and just say no verses make a complete mess" the girl responded "sorry I didn't complete the check" (it was done by Stephanie- that's what was written In the confirmed text). She then was nice enough to offer and help me bring the bins to my car and open the door for me on the way out but I couldn't believe they didn't accept any of the items. Some things still had tags on them and were brand new! I will NOT bring anything to Plato Closet again, Ill save my time and just donate to GoodWill. I suggest you do the same, don't bother trying. I did read the yelp reviews beforehand and I wish I listened to them. Bring your items elsewhere, and that is my honest review!! read more

Very cool place to shop but I had the unfortunate experience of trying to sell my clothes there. You see all of the clothes I gave were name brand and either new or gently used. No stains, tears or signs of wear. They also were recently purchased. Nothing was more than a year old. They only took three of my items. They turned down two north face jackets and two patagonias. Also a ton of stuff from pink. When I look in the shop, all the stuff they have from pink is very old. I know because I am a frequent pink shopper. I find it upsetting they turned down my items that probably would have sold very fast. The girls there were also very snobby to me. I wasn't sure what I was doing when selling the clothes since it was my first time and they made me feel dumb. They also stared at me and gave me slightly dirty looks. I also have to add that while going through the racks there was Walmart shorts...you won't accept Patagonia but you take Walmart!! Nasty. I took an hour to drive down here it definitely was not worth my time. Don't bring your clothes here...you'll just be judged. read more

I recently dropped off a few bags to be reviewed for the store to purchase. They accepted a few items. I made a comment as to why they didn't purchase one particular items since I just purchase it a week ago, washed it and couldn't return it. The girl who reviewed my clothing chimed in rudely and said it was because there was a stain on it. When I got home I carefully looked over the garment and there was no stain on it. Some of the clothes were recently purchased in their Enfield location so I find it funny that they didn't accept it in West Springfield. While waiting for my clothes to be reviewed I couldn't happen to notice that some of the items in the store were outdated also. I am curios as to how they process which clothes they should take and which items they don't take. The store was well kept except there was a strong odor of perfume.
