She showed me around a few racks of sport coats and suits she'd picked out in advance, knowing roughly what to expect from our phone conversation, and with my reactions, quickly worked her way to my tastes. As a saleswoman, Lorry doesn't push - she just showed me stuff and went with how I felt. She was even honest enough to tell me, when I was hedging on a jacket, "if you're doing that now, you'll do it every time you put it on. It's not worth it." I eventually ended up with a gorgeous wool suit, circa early '70s, which was exquisitely dry cleaned and pressed (which she does with all her merchandise). She priced the comparable suits she got from this source at $225, but this was for her Manhattan market. As a first-time customer who was a student and from her hometown, she let me have it for $95. It needed a little bit of tailoring but she gave me a very complete recommendation for what to do, how to have it done, and who to take it to. The rest of our conversation was about mutual friends/family who we discovered we had. I was there for an hour and a half! You almost feel like an honorary nephew or something in this place. A breakdown: Prices: I didn't get enough of an idea with other merchandise to determine, but these are not thrift store prices. Then again, they're not thrift store items, and she'll work with you. Selection: extensive, sometimes kooky and sometimes very wearable, consistently vintage (lots of 50s-70s). Experience: very pleasant and focused entirely on you.

I always take a look at the men's shirts first. I was very surprised to see them tagged at $12 here, which is substantially more than I customarily see at the Simsbury store, where I've picked up quite a few similar long sleeve Oxford shirts for $5. Otherwise, the store is very neat and organized and has the usual accompaniment of clothing, footwear, accessories, household goods, books, etc. I'm definitely a fan of thrift and second hand stores, and even though I was looking for a long sleeve white shirt, I walked out empty-handed today.

Her selection of clothing and other merchandise for sale in her shop were very well chosen (timeless, classics, vintage, hip, trendy etc), on her part. Mimi was a class act! The new owner can be somewhat rude at times. And the selection of clothes and items are not so hot anymore. She is kind of greedy. My experiences with her have not been so great. And the new owner moved and where she moved is awful....hardy any parking spaces and everything is packed so tight, it's hard to shop. The new shop is extremely smaller in size and the set up of the store in general was unorganized. Merchandise was clump together tightly packed, doesn't flow and it just seemed cluttered and some merchandise not easily accessible at all. The new owner should not have moved, BIG BUSINESS MISTAKE. I think she hurt herself by moving. So many people I have chatted with are very disappointed by her move as well and how she treats people poorly. Mimi had a great successful popular shop and the location was perfect. Wished new owner didn't make so many changes. If the wheel wasn't broken why fix it or make so many unnecessary changes. This is the second shop for this new owner. Her first boutique failed and it use to be right next store to Mimi's. After her first boutique failed, her and Mimi worked out things where she (the new owner) would take over and be the new owner at Mimi's. Some changes were fine. I get the new owner wanted to eventually change the name of the shop and make some changes, but moving was a big mistake. The store is actually located at the basement of the building. It has a strong thrift store smell and vibe. However, they did have a lot of dresses for prom and younger (perhaps flower girl or communion) dresses. Unfortunately, I did not see what I was looking for which was bridal gowns. I think they are more focused on younger high school girls.

The store has so many cool and interesting little things, like beaded keychains, hair accessories, candles, jewelry, greeting cards and decor. Some of it is vintage and some is locally hand made. The back of the store is the thrift clothing section. Everything looks to be in excellent shape. There's also records, shoes and purses. I saw a Dior coat, and some items by Burberry and by Alexander McQueen. They are selective about their selection of items they accept. There isn't any of that awful stuffy smell. It feels and looks like everything is brand new. It's easy to look and touch things without the fear of everything falling. This store isn't stuffed at all. Then when I got it, an item was missing and they said they never had it. I sent photos, called weekly, took me over a month to get them to acknowledge they already sold it and would pay me for it. Then when I went to collect my items since I did not want to do business with them anymore, they were extremely rude and condescending. Come to find out when I got home, they cut the tags off of my new item so I couldn't sell it anywhere else as "new with tags" and removed size tags. Don't buy from them - they steal, lie, and rip people off. They deserve 0 stars.

I really wanted to love this place; I usually enjoy consignment shopping. However, on my first…read morevisit, it became apparent that someone is smoking in the store. I do not know if it is the owner(s) or an employee. The stench seemed strongest by the back room/maybe a bathroom(?), but it was powerful throughout the small shop. It was so bad that I could not stay for more than a few minutes because I have a history of chronic bronchitis. Regardless, no consignment or antique store should allow smoking indoors; it is damaging to the products. I was appalled to see wedding dresses there on consignment. Imagine a wedding dress that smells like cigarette smoke... Anyone in the resale business knows that cigarette smoke significantly lowers the values of antiques. I know some places seem to get away with it (The Victorian House in Franklin comes to mind), but I think there are more air vents and a wider space, so the smoke doesn't collect so easily. I wish they didn't allow it either, though. It's too bad; there did seem to be a nice selection of furniture & homewares here. I'm not sure if the smoke was a one-day deal or what, but I am extremely hesitant to go back, and I would not recommend consigning there.

I shop there frequently, I'm able to find things like Prada and Gucci, handbags. you ca tell that she has a variety of consumers, something new at every visit.
