If you are considering divorce or trying to finalize your divorce please avoid JC Law. Like another…read morereviewer mentioned, I didn't hear from my attorney for months at a time (despite meeting all financial requirements). The paralegals I dealt with were friendly but two of them left the firm while my case was moving forward and I wasn't notified about their departures. Normally, this wouldn't matter except I sent emails/texts to them but obviously didn't get responses back. This prolonged my case and created confusion. To make the paralegal issue worse, one of them billed me for interoffice communication with my attorney! I have the receipt to prove this. She told me basically had to get up to speed with my case because she was new. Think about what I just said. The paralegal justified billing me for interoffice communication with my attorney. Management said this shouldn't have happened but do you think they refunded me? I received no closing statement from my attorney/firm which I was told should have happened. This is standard practice. I ended up handling some of the remaining steps of my divorce on my own because no one was communicating with me. I found my attorney, Shannon Stefanelli, to be cordial, initially. I didn't hire her in the beginning but the attorney I originally onboarded with was swapped out with Shannon. Ultimately, my case seemed to be of little importance to her. Her lack of correspondence, especially giving the situation with the paralegals, was unprofessional. And her lack of correspondence as things were being finalized was simply rude. I did receive an email from her, (after I asked her and the paralegal if in fact my case was officially over) and she finally responded to me after 4 months of silence. My experience with JC Law reminded me of why lawyers have the reputations they do. I'm sure a few good ones are out there but I would avoid this firm altogether. You are definitely not a priority in their eyes.
