While the shop items are cute and kitschy, they are extremely overpriced, and the Christmas tree prices have skyrocketed over the years as well. On my most recent visit, many of the plants looked neglected, with dead leaves everywhere. After finally finding one plant I liked, I had an unpleasant interaction with the cashier when I asked about a military discount and requested tissue to cover the muddy pot. Her responses were abrupt and rude, leaving me upset enough to cry afterward. The only bright spot was a kind teenage employee who helped me figure out the bag to cover and carry the plant. Unfortunately, when I later spoke with the GM, my concerns were dismissed and the cashier's behavior was excused. Goodbye, Platt Hill. Sometimes the items are great but at other times the plants die quickly. This nursery is very expensive and you might do better elsewhere.

We bought a few shrubs/plants from Platthill Nursery last fall, a few of the shrubs did not make through the winter so I called them and I was told with a receipt or if we used our reward we can get 50% store credit, as we did not save the receipt we ended up going to the store hoping we used the rewards number or we could work something out. We spoke to a manager who said without a receipt she cannot do anything but if we can provide the proof of purchase with the amount and date of purchase she can look it up, so I looked my credit card statement and showed her the transaction She did find the transaction and could see we bought the shrubs but the tags I was carrying did not match the description of the items purchased and she refused to issue any credit, we could clearly see that we bought the shrubs but she refused to work with us or help us stating the items do not match when the tags clearly identify the shrubs were purchased at Platthill but kept saying we do not have proof of purchase, we left disappointed without a proper resolution, if the store had issued the credit and worked with us we probably would have used all the credit and purchased more but we did not feel like giving more business to Platthill considering our experience. Even if we had the receipt it probably would have the said the same thing and the items would not have matched so who ever scanned, incorrectly picked the wrong item. I just warn to anyone making a big purchase to make sure you save the receipt and also make sure the right item was scanned if not you might run into the same issue, we are not going back to Platthiill gain after our experience read more

Look for employees wearing yellow polo shirts. They are very kind and helpful. We came for: Bulk mulch. Great prices. Flower bed edge stones. Limestone for layering underneath the pacer stones. Occasionally you can find a great deal. They ordered a huge supply of thai constellation monsteras for me by request and I couldn't be happier. I had to wait a while but they are very great quality. You have just lost a loyal customer. Last year in may 2023 I took both my boys to buy a Japanese maple for Mother's Day. My youngest was fighting brain cancer, a battle that he lost recently. This year since the maple was not blooming I called and asked what to do. Since the Japanese maple we purchased last year is 5 days past the year mark we were advised that we couldn't get a refund or store credit and we were supposed to know we had to come back in April if it did not have any leaves. We purchased several large Birch trees from Platt Hill nursery hearing that they were reputable with excellent healthy products. As these trees were going to be a focal point in our front yard, we selected large trees that could fill in quickly. We also had Platt Hill experts install these trees to ensure healthy growth for years! we were told 2 of the larger Birch trees already lost their leafs BUT THEY WERE FINE AND STILL HEALTHY! We spent over $2,000 with Platt Hill on our trees. Well, I've contacted Platt Hill probably 6-7 that 2 of the largest trees are dying. It seems their leaves fell off early at Platt Hill Nursery because the trees were dying. I don't know why. We were ensured that these trees were excellent! After 18 months of contacting Platt Hill on our dead trees THEY planted and explaining over & over the dying trees plus sending loads of photos. I was given zero response! This is $2000 lost in our front yard. I should've burned the cash. The Platt Hill landscaper told me several times he forwarded this information to the owners but there was still no response. We own 1 acre local property which we are hiring landscapers, designers , a lot of new product everywhere! I will never buy another item from Platt Hill nor will I believe anything they say. The store is good but I hired Platt Hill to plant shrubs and perennials in my backyard and front yard. The first year everything looked okay but then as years went on I realized I did not get the shrubs I wanted and the plants did not last over 1 year. Very disappointed with them after I spent alot of money on the plants and shrubs. I had them plant DWARF arctic blue willow shrub that was suppose to be DWARF size. Well one of the shrubs is doing okay but the other shrub is NOT DWARF size. The limbs on the shrub are over 1 inch in diameter and very hard for me to trim. The other shrub is actually a DWARF with billowy thin branches that sway with the wind. Now I have to find someone to remove the one that has large limbs. The lillies they plants died within 1 year, the amber jubilee looks straggly. I would not use them for landscaping. read more

This nursery, greenhouse and garden center pretty much has it all. The greenhouses are usually stuffed with houseplants, perennials, herbs, blooming plants and more. They have a ton of knick-knacks like fairy garden items and household ornaments and a ton of things for garden birding. Only complaint? Platt Hill pricing is high. As much as I love this place, I have to say how disappointing it is to be a Rewards member. My husband spent a couple hundred dollars on a Christmas gift for me and in the mail we get for $10 reward for being a valued frequent shopper. It was dated December 17th and it gave me 60 days to use it. Really they're going to limit the amount of time that you have to spend it. Anyone knows this is basically a seasonal business and they are not hurting in any way but they can't even just give you a $10 reward and let you spend it when you want. I mean the person who hangs on to it to turn it in should be able to use it whenever. It's bad enough in the summer you get it after you're done buying everything for the season and they give you a 60 days to use it but you usually can find a reason to use it. Unprecedented customer service. The ladies in the back were super helpful. I get my wreaths every year from platt hill and this year I was late getting there and the wreaths I typically purchase were not on display. I asked if they could make some for me... and they bent over backwards to pick out the perfect plain Frasier fir wreaths, they added the juniper berries and custom made the bows all while I waited. They only charged a couple dollars for the junipers because they didn't use the whole bunch. They didn't even charge me for making the wreaths. Love this place. I found a peace lily and Christmas poinsettia plant that are both lovely. I also found a vase for the peace lily that is gorgeous. Customer service is on point and they wrap the plants in festive holiday pater that makes it easy to give plants as gifts. Recently purchased several fall plants (mostly mums), one was dying by day 2. I called them and asked what the return policy was (I had heard that HD had a great plant return policty and I had mistakenly assumed that a well-known and local nursery would do the same) and they advised me to "make sure" it was "completely gone" before I bothered to bring it back to them. Seemed odd, but fine. Brought it back after trying for nearly 5 days to rally the poor thing. The teenagers that work there, well, they could really give a rats' booty about helping you, as I soon found out when I tried to talk to them about returning my now-dead mum. I had been told I'd get 50% back on my purchase, which I felt was unfair, but whatever. What I didn't know, was that was 50% store CREDIT, not your money back. I politely argued the point with the "manager" and not only did he suggest that perhaps I did something TO the plant, he then went on to chastise me for not returning it, promptly. I explained why I didn't bring it back immediately, based on what I was told by one of the employees, but to no avail. To be honest, a $5 credit towards another plant does very little for me and I told him so...but it was the principle of the thing, you know? He made a big show of examining my license for the return and when I finally snapped at him to get it back, he took his time handing it over. This wanker is a first class jerk and if I could give this place a ZERO I surely would. I'll go back to Lowe's, Home Depot and hell, even Wal-mart before I step foot in that place again...oh ya, the credit? I took it, reached over for the scissors and cut it up in the moron's face.
