My review pertains to the classes they offer. I did the spring basket class earlier this year. We were provided a large planter, many types of flowers to pick from and a cute decoration. I do not know much about gardening, they provided flower types that are hardy enough to withstand the cool spring nights. Yesterday I did the pumpkin decorating class. We got two large pumpkins and got to pick either a white or blue pumpkin. The supplies to decorate were plentiful. They provide all kinds of ideas and examples. The instructors are very friendly and helpful. I do not consider myself a creative person but after these classes I do! Many people brought snacks and drinks. Definitely a fun night out. read more

I've shopped at the Barn for several years and have been mostly happy with their plants. They have a nice selection and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. The items in the garden shop are unique if not a bit pricey. Overall the garden center is a good experience. However we used the landscape center to design our small entry area. It looked nice to start but some of the plants have struggled. When we called them out to help an unrelated issue a year later, their rep happened to point out that plants at the entry didn't belong there due to the location/lighting! So I end up paying for the original install, for them to come out the 2nd time, and for more plants I bought to replace them. Not so great. read more

After shopping at all of the other local nurseries, I always come back to the Barn. They have a GREAT selection of plants and outstanding customer service. Over the years I have purchased numerous bushes, mulch (both delivered and bagged), soil, flowers, hanging baskets, and a stone slab. I had a rather expensive bush die shortly after it was planted and it was replaced without question. Love, love, love this place! read more

A couple of weeks ago, the Barn Nursery and Landscape Center did a major overhaul of our landscape on three sides of our home. What a beautiful job of laying large Bluestone pieces and on one part of the walkway, they hand cut a curve connecting two of the patios. Of the three new patios, it's hard to say which is our favorite but maybe the front courtyard wins. We had The Barn installed a cool looking, 350 pound cast fountain in between two square Boxwood lined areas, with phenomenal lavender plants inside the Boxwoods. The large chips of Bluestone, around the fountain, is a great contrast from smaller chips. The attention to detail of the crew, especially Lupe, made everything just perfect. All the new plants were from The Barn as well. So glad we had The Barn do the work! Thank You Tom Kusmerz!! Money well spent! read more

Have spent a lot of money over the years with fair amount of plants, etc. but lately not good service. Very hard to enter parking area coming from the south - have to go past, turn left and make a uturn to come back. Anyway, most recent experience not so good. Staff was pretty rude. I have shopped at their garden center before and had a great experience. I recently ordered a pallet of sod. I called for a quote early in the week and was quoted a delivery fee. When I called to confirm the final order at the end of the week, I was told the delivery fee was double what I had been quoted. I explained this, but I was told the previous associate got it wrong. When the sod arrived, the guys unloading were helpful and friendly and unloaded exactly as I needed it. I worked in landscaping for four summers in high school and college. I installed a lot of sod. There were more white grubs in the sod than I have ever seen, but obiously I only have my own experience to compare against.. I pulled them out as I went but will now need to put down pesticide which I normally try to avoid at all costs. The sod was clearly from different patches of the sod farm too because there are certain rolls that look like different grass. I would recommend working with the supplier to quality check the batches. In the future I would consider my other option that I chose against for convenience sake which was renting a truck, driving to the sod farm and picking up/unloading it myself. read more

We had shopped there for years for gardening items. For the first time we ordered a number of bushes that were to be delivered. There was a problem with the lilacs that they delivered. Without going into a long story, the bottom line was, Julie, the owner, had no interest in helping fix the problem. She was perfectly happy with us moving on as customers. We were stuck with the wrong item. No customer service AT ALL. I would say this to you, do not place a delivery order with this company. There are plenty of other landscape companies that stand behind their work. Barn Nursery does not. Terrible experience, mainly because of the owner, Julie. read more

Awesome place. Gardening needs? They'll hook you up--from flowering trees to herbs, they've got it. The prices aren't all that competitive, but they always seem to have a coupon circulating in spring/summer. The staff is super helpful. They've got great on-the-fly gifts. I find it semi-therapeutic to just wander around and check out what they've got. There's more than what meets the eye from the road, that's for sure... read more

Over the summer, I purchased a large tree from the Barn. When it was delivered, the very nice delivery men accidentally broke a large section of my fence which was 2 feet behind where the tree was planted. The fence section was detached, leaving an entire section of my fence no longer attached and 15ft of the 30ft fence was leaning into my neighbors yard. I requested that the Barn pay to have it replaced, as it was no longer secure. I asked them to help pay for half (replacement cost was $1275.00) The owner, Tom, said he'd work with me. He offered $100 because 'he couldn't afford more'. (The post alone cost $200 to replace, but 15 ft of fence was leaning and no longer upright). Infuriating - as I'd spent many thousands of dollars at the Barn over the last 20 years. So, the net/net is that my $340 tree cost me over $1575.00. Thanks, Tom. read more

We had The Barn do all of the landscaping work on our new-to-us house remodeling project over the past year and a half. They did three large paver patios and a paver driveway, as well as installing nearly 100 trees, regrading the yard, and landscaping a 6 foot soil berm we installed. They know their stuff, whether it is paving work or plants or trees, they do top quality work, and they try to steer your choices in a direction that will produce a great result. We purchase a tree a month ago there and were pleasantly surprised by the amount of time the young , man who helped us was willing to spend educating us. The delivery people were polite. We ended up being back there today to buy 3 more trees and once again were amazed by the helpfulness of the employees. The Barn is the only place to go for your gardening needs. Not only tremendous products, but, more importantly, GREAT people. A year ago, my wife bought plants from the Barn. To get to The Barn, she drove 40 minutes and passed at least 6 nurseries. When I asked her why, she said, "They were the only ones who were nice to me." This year, I learned what she meant. I had to return a couple of the plants that she purchased because they died in last year's drought. I called up to ask if I needed a receipt. I was told, "No, we have it on record." High marks for that. When I showed up, they were able to pull up the purchase history in seconds, gave me a credit with no complaint or questions asked, and then helped me find plants that would suit the space even better. I have bought plants from other places that were "guaranteed" and the guarantee was not worth the paper it was written on. When The Barn guarantees your plant, they actually stand behind it. Simply put, there is nowhere else I will ever go for plants. read more

Had a landscape architect come out to my house in April 2014 to look at work I wanted done and to offer ideas to improve the aesthetics of my backyard/patio and front entryway. Said I would receive a quote in two weeks. It's now late August and I'm still waiting for that email. Ok, so I don't have a McMansion, but I still would like to have a nice landscape. If my job was "too small" for their big egos, they should have told me straight up instead of ignoring my request. I would not recommend. read more

They placed a big sign by the road advertising hydrangeas for 19.99. I go with the employee, pick up the more expensive ones and ask about the 19.99. She shows me and I pick up one of those too. When I get home I realiz she charged me for that one 40 dollars!. When I called she told me to drive the 30 minutes back if I wanted my money. A horrible experience with that place. I showed the woman who claims to be the owner pictures of the plant and the receipt but she must do this often because she denies they are in the wrong.... Too many places to buy plants without the dishonesty and aggravation. read more

We are frequent Barn Nursery shoppers. I have purchased everything from small flats of annuals to trees, grass, and pots, and have always been more than happy with my experience. The employees are incredibly knowledgable and the selection is unbeatable. The quality of the plants is better than anywhere else I've gone and the prices are competitive. We put in a new patio last summer and bought everything but the flagstone from the BN (stepping plants, pots, perennials, patio trees, sod, limestone screening etc.. and it turned out beautifully. They also have special events like, 'Build a fairy Garden', for kids, or a mother's day event, even wine tastings! We love to come, browse around, see what's new, and get ideas. I worked with Rob Baughman at Barn Nursery, he a beautiful design for our entire backyard. He really listened to my ideas and what I liked and didn't like. He came out several times to take measurements and look at our backyard. I love all of the plants and the variety of color that he chose. He layed out a timeframe and set up the expectations of how long it would take since this season they have gotten behind due to the weather and he was accurate with all of his timeframes which I really appreciated. They installed my plants about 3 weeks ago (on time based on his estimate) and it looks tremendous, they did a great job. I've even contacted him afterward with follow up questions and additions and he continues to impress me. I highly recommend Barn Nursery and Rob to do your design. read more

I have purchased 15 larger trees and too many perennials to count over the last 12 years from The Barn and keep going back. They have among if not the best larger-tree selection in the area. Perennials almost always are very healthy and typically include unusual species you won't see anywhere else. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly and will refer your question to someone who knows more than they do if appropriate. Pricing is average for the area, plant health is excellent, and if you're watching you will find various sales throughout the year, particularly at year-end October/November. Caveat emptor-their guarantee is for the amount paid for the tree or shrub. If you buy at a sale price that is the amount of the guarantee and it is not necessarily for replacement of the plant. It has always been made clear to me that this is the policy at checkout. This should be a surprise to no one if you actually listen to what the person behind the register explains to you during the payment process. read more
