I recently went to play and talk because me and my boyfriend were out and about for my birthday trip. We came across the store, thinking it looked really cool inside so we decided to look around. We've decided to buy resident evil biohazard because I once had the game when it first came out. Mind you we live in New Orleans, Louisiana so we drove a long way from where we live to Biloxi. Just to come home and find out that the game does not work at all. We popped the game in the ps4 and once the game played for five minutes, then it played for three minutes, and after that it wouldn't play at all & this would pop up on the screen. "Cannot continue using the application. The disc cannot be read. Make sure that the disc is not damaged or dirty." Upon further inspection of the CD it's obvious that the game is a fake. And after reading the return policy and other reviews, we already know we won't get a legit game or any help with our purchase considering they didn't help others with the same issue. We also didn't receive a receipt from the employee. I feel scammed. What a lovely birthday gift. read more

For a trading card store one would think that current comps matter on all trades, sales, or purchases. This store has cards priced at 270$ while the current comps are less than 200$. When trying to trade or sell i have a current comp card valued at 300$ I was offered 140$ cash and 160$ trade. Offered a straight up trade for said 300$ for the current comp card at 200$ and they refused to bring down their card priced 75$ over latest comps to meet expectations. Needless to say the its a trading card store. Everything is over msrp which is understandable due to having bills. But to take in trades at current comps but the out going trades won't match current comps is ridiculous. read more

If you grew up or are part of basically any era of gaming, you would enjoy this place they have a very vast selection of consoles, games, store displays, statues, figures, candy,plushes, and a whole lot more the prices here are amazing and they even have some interactive elements. I'm honestly super impressed with Play And Talk! I've been coming to Gulfport every year on vacation and always make a point to stop here. They've recently expanded their store to about triple the size it used to be and it's definitely for the better! While the prices are on the high end, the quality is worth it. The girl who works at this store is the rudest person I have ever dealt with. She has green and blue hair, the worst attitude ever as well. I felt like my time and patience were not valued. A simple acknowledgment or clear solution would have gone a long way toward resolving the matter. Unfortunately, I'm left feeling dissatisfied and hesitant to use this service again unless improvements are made in communication and problem-solving. I got offered 30% value for my pokemon cards which is just a joke in itself. She completely ruined the experience for me and i will no longer bring my business to play and talk. read more

While I'm not a local, I love to come to Play and Talk when I'm in town to keep my gaming collecting ever growing. Located in the Gulfport Premium Outlet, Play and Talk features pretty much anything and everything a video game fanatic could ask for. It's got a large assortment of vintage games from NES, Super NES, Sega, Playstation (various generations), Nintendo 64, and so many more. They've also got many of the systems for sale too. Some of them in glass cases, but don't worry, just ask for help and they've got you. Play and Talk also has a ton of Funko, Pop culture items like stickers, mugs and more. They've got t shirts, an area with candies, squishmallows and a ton of Mario stuff. The staff is really nice and always is really helpful. I love the wide variety of items here and really I could look in this store for hours, just browsing; sometimes out of need and other times out of pure nostalgia. If you're thinking about going to a Gamestop, turn around and go here instead. read more

Gamers paradise! Ok I came with hubby and went straight for the candy. My husband loves coming because he gets to converse with fellow gamers. I like coming because I love looking at the old games for the older systems. I usually get the funko Pops, which is fun to collect. If you are into collecting things based on comic books, games, anime, or manga, this is the place for you. I do LOVE the fact that the staff is extremely knowledgeable about games and comics. We bought a switch game and got back to our vrbo to find that it needed the joy con connectors to play, we're travelling and unfortunately the controllers fell off the roof of thevl car . Luckily I had also bought a controller while at this store but it wasn't a joy con. No worries right? I'll just return the game get some store credit, oops looks like we didn't keep that receipt but we had another receipt from a separate transaction (we liked this store a lot and made multiple purchases while staying in the area) I read over the lengthy return policy (that's a red flag) and thought it shouldn't be a problem but I might need to call and ask if it's ok to return this without a receipt. I call and get a great guy named Josh who said he should be able to look up the transaction and do the return. I'm not sure why receipts matter in 2022. I have bank transactions I can point to and also they keep store records, what's to prove here? It's even got a store sticker on the box of the game still. Also worth noting is that the box looks original but has no wrapping on it. We drive back to the store and I ask the lady behind the counter (same lady I had the day before, she seems very short tempered and rude, I try not to take that personally around the holidays and also during this post pandemic era, she's probably stressed on all sides so I cut her some slack the first day). The lady quickly declines the return without a receipt and I explain that I called ahead, she gets angry and keeps repeating no return without a receipt. I keep repeating I talked to a guy she says who and I'm all flustered from her being so confrontational over what she is acting like is a robbery but I'm in reality I'm just returning a $20 game we couldn't play. I asked why is this such a a huge deal, if you give me store credit I will spend even more money at your store and it's a no lose situation for you and she says she can get fired over this, that's when I realized she's scared of losing her job over the return policy but there's no policy about being nice to customers apperently. There's a leadership problem at this store. Way too much energy on rules and regulations and customer service is thrown out the window for fear of making the owner or manager mad. She then says I probably talked to a guy named Josh which made everything click with me since we share a name. Josh comes over, he remembers talking to me and says oh wait this is a new game. It is? $20 with no plastic on it? If you say so... He says if he takes it as a return he can't sale it as new so he'd lose a lot money since it's now technically used. That's when I inferred another thing. They're nickle and dining over price points here, this store is in trouble! I realize I've hit a brick wall because I made the mistake of saying it was used, I had no idea it was new and said it was used over the phone. I genuinely thought it was since it was only $20 and had no plastic wrap but at this point the lady had been yelling at me and the whole store was watching me so I said it was my mistake and that I was sorry. To the person working at the store reading this: Consider how your policies have affected you, they saved you about a maximum of $15 in losses on reselling a game and put me in a mood to not buy another switch game for my daughter who just wanted a fun game to play on vacation it was ok, we went home and bought a game on the Nintendo estore. So in the process of saving a few bucks you lost $60 on a new game I was going to buy, you got this one star review that will forever be on this yelp profile I assume, you've also stressed your employees out so much that they'd rather yell at customers than lose their jobs, and you ruined my day. I once worked a customer service job for directv that had a zero tolerance policy for being rude to customers maybe instead of these fear based policies you should try just being firm and kind. Politely telling me no would have been ok, I ultimately was wrong and I own that. The policy is the policy but if I tried to return a video game at chick FIL a, yeah a video game, they wouldn't yell at me. But if I tried to return a chicken sandwich at your store that lady would fight me . Don't fire the rude lady, you know who she is, get her some help. Something is stressing her out. She needs a few paid days off and some counseling. Maybe if you change how you operate then maybe next time I come to the area in a few years you'll still be there. read more

This is one of the best stores to get all your retro to current gaming wants and needs. They have some deals that are more average but they have some really great prices aswell. I have spent a decent amount of time and money in this store, and it almost makes living in Mississippi somewhat bearable. I've bought several games ranging from gameboy color to Wii U, and fully intend to buy more games and/or systems from this store. They've never disappointed, the workers are cool people and don't bother you too much while still making themselves clearly available and at your service, they're as helpful and will provide extra information that is good to know if they feel it's necessary, and very few if any of their items are terribly overpriced. 10/10 would look at everything in the store five times again, very recommended for fans of all Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, sega games etc, just a great place for a nerd to fuel their addictions. read more

I used to be a big fan of this place, I could have been called a regular,but in recent times they've failed to often and haven't been that good. Their customer service is horrible and being a long time customer, I've noticed their jump in prices recently. I recently purchased a game that didn't work, I then took it to the store to be looked at. They said that their was nothing they could do and offered me in store credit. I was fine with this and used it to buy two different games ( Game 1 and Game 2). I was on my way home when my brother realized that the wrong game was in the case. We then turned around and got it fixed. The ordeal with game 1 was taken care of. When I got home, I tested both to find that game 2 wasn't working. I tested it on two different consoles. Under closer inspection it seems that the game was fake. (I wasn't able to confirm this but parts of the game seem suspicious and their isn't many images of game 2 online to confirm this.) I wanted to bring this up to the staff and get it addressed. I went back the next day to get it fixed and was in for a surprise. When I walked in, the employees were fighting. I then went to talk to the employee working the register and said," Hey, this game isn't working and this is the third time I've had to come back for a problem." He just brushed it aside and said he'd get it taken care of, taking both my receipt and the game. I waited in the store as two employees kept arguing with each other. After some time, a guy came from the side and said that the game was good, and I was supposed to clean it. He handed me my game and not the receipt. I then left the store immediately to leave the two fighting employees. Just glad that the game "works". When I got home, I tested the game and it only works when it feels like it, even after cleaning. Another time when I was their with a friend, she bought a game for a huge sum of money and an employee laughed at her saying," Wow, that's a lot of money for a game!" He then walked up to the manager and repeated himself. I know that it sounds like I'm slamming the place, but that's only because it used to be great. My IPhone 6S decided it wasn't going to work late yesterday afternoon. I googled cellular phone repair and a link for Play and Talk came up. They were nearby and their website indicated a technician was on site. When I got to the store I spoke with an employee who said he would take a look. Turned out the employee was the store owner Jonathan. He determined the battery needed replacement. I was in and out in about thirty minutes with a functioning phone at a very reasonable repair price! They also offer a $10.00 coupon for $5.00 on their Yelp page. read more

Went to Biloxi to evacuate Hurricane Irma. I decided to walk around the mall in Gulfport when I found Play and Talk. This is the coolest game store I've ever been to. I have been to this store on a few occasions since it has opened. Each time has been a let down. I was really excited at first that a new game store was opening but each time has been one bad experience after another. Trade in prices are a joke. Staff attitude is horrible even if you are lucky enough to have someone pay attention to you (which you practically have to beg for). Pricing of games are just like any other place so I don't know why people are raving about the prices this store has to offer. Selection is not the greatest unless you are looking for cheap cell phone accessories or playstation 2 games. I will never recommend this store to anyone due to poor service, insulting trade in prices, and a genuine lack of interest in customers. And on a side note I find it weird that a store can have 5 out of 5 stars with service like this. I would bet most of the reviews for this company anywhere on the internet are paid for.
