In the area visiting friends in Hickory, I spotted this comic shop close by and decided to stop by…read moreand check them out. I was astonished at the variety and depth of stock items. Comics, cards, figurines, Pops, Star Wars collectibles, Star Trek collectibles, Hot Wheels, etc. I would not have believed the huge stocks from the outside. Plus some oversized Star Wars items: R2D2, a Droid, and a diorama of Dogabah. These guys are fans first and retailers second. Had a nice conversation about comics and left them with information on checking out my collection and possible deals. They were friendly and knowledgeable and willing to help. Check them out! Just leave enough time to browse around and maybe find that one item you have been looking for.

We got our hot hands on a really hard to find album, signed by all members of the band, (Hence why it was hard to find) all but 1 of the members are dead, so finding Vinyl with all of the signatures on it feels pretty amazing. The owner of the shop was friendly and amazingly knowledgeable about the industry. We felt welcomed, and wanted. A fantastic experience! I suggest if anyone is as into vinyl like we are, they head over there! Prices are truly reasonable, and the place is chock full of awesomeness!!!

A fun little vintage/antiques shop tucked back off the street, Those Were the Days is a great place…read moreto wile away an hour if you are a lover of the old or the quirky. It is set up like a typical antiques mall with items provided by different vendors, so you'll see some items priced higher than others based on who the vendor is, but I found the prices overall to be good. I stocked up on vintage glass decanters that were priced well below what I would normally see at similar stores in other cities, which was surprising given that resort town prices are often inflated. We met a vendor as we browsed, a friendly older gentlemen who asked about the items we were inspecting and told us where he sources most of his wares, and the lady who checked us out was also helpful and kind. Lots of records and toys, but you'll also find all the variety of items you expect in an antiques market. Finding the set of chicken decanters and the world's largest witch's broom were worth the trip even if I hadn't scored so many of the decanters I was searching for that day. We will definitely make this store part of our itinerary every time we return to Sugar Mountain.

I'm from out of town and the employee working that day was helpful on the phone to help me find my way to the store. If I'm back in the area I would definitely stop in again
