I stopped by Play it again Sports, located at 1220 Greenbrier Parkway near Volvo Parkway in the heart of Chesapeake to take a look at the new arrivals. They always have a great selection of pre- owned sports equipment with everything from Golf Clubs to Surf Boards and a lot of other stuff as well. The staff is friendly and helpful if you have any questions about the equipment they have for sale. Ordered a $400 football helmet for my son and called to make sure it was the right size. All I needed to know is was the helmet "ADULT" or "YOUTH." I was told it was a youth size. Got the helmet, it was the ADULT size and didn't fit my 10 yr old. Now I'm told that I'm being charged to ship it back for THEIR mistake. Absolutely zero accountability. Leaving this under my wife's name lol because she has the app and an account and I didn't feel like making as when I call play it again all the time I search on my safari (surprised i don't have the number saved lol) I finally noticed the reviews and man I can't tell you how much it sucked to see everyone had something bad to say with 10 reviews total. So I'd like to tell everyone that I've been coming here after I got stationed here for disc golf, I always go here for anything I need for it. All the staff are amazing I notice when just being in there as I am there on average 5 hours a week, I notice that the staff is super friendly with everyone that comes in and are also very knowledgeable in all sports that they have to offer there. read more

After my review the owner reached out to me and informed me that he will take every step to make the experience better for his customers. With this, I would be willing to give this business another shot so next time I'm in the market for sports equipment I will check it out. Nevertheless, if the experience the next time around is less than satisfactory in the customer service category I will update this review again accordingly. Do your research before shopping here, everything I've found used can be purchased new for nearly the same price. In some cases the used equipment is priced even higher! It's a shame this company is scamming shoppers because I really like the concept of recycling old equipment. The customer service is very poor. The workers cannot answer any questions about the equipment and often made me feel unintelligent for even asking. I've tried very hard to like this place as it's the closest sporting goods store to me in Chesapeake but I am giving up. I will not be going back.. read more

I recently started participating in the sport "Disk Golf"!! Not knowing where to turn to purchase my first full set I ventured to Play It Again Sports in Greebrier Mall area (Chesapeake, Va) only to be amazed by the selection of not only NEW disks but near perfect/new used disks.. The prices were very reasonable and the clerk that helped me actually broke out some very informational posters as we both learned a bit more about the sport. During check out is when i looked around the rest of the store only to see about 9 more things i'd been looking for for those weekend BBQ's. Needless to say, i'll be visiting this place again! Never coming again. When you have 3 people behind the counter, and 2 customers looking at bats directly in front of you, I thought it would be common courtesy to just walk over or even ask (because that's how close we were) if we needed help looking for something. But no. The three guys just kept playing with stuff behind the counter. I asked how much a softball was just to get attention and after looking on the computer to tell me it was 2.99 went back to doing whatever they were doing behind the counter. I felt like my wife and I weren't even noticed the entire 20 mins. we were in there. And the equipment seems highly overpriced for being used. Only 1 star because I can't give 0. read more

Fantastic store. If you know anything about sports gear is well priced. Some higher than others but still well priced. Only complaint I have is its a lot of stuff stored in a little amount of space. HOWEVER thought, you can distinguish where the items are in the store compared to others. Skate sharpen has been consistently good, FANTASTIC hockey stuff; as well as baseball. The staff was helpful when I was there, very educated in the gear that they sell. Return policy is smaller than other stores, but it's located in two places I believe, so it's not a total surprise.
