I have come here 2x. I travel a good ways to this place and both times I have been amazed at how education they are. My son had his glove unlace and was just ready for a new one. While we had his old one laces with a family friend we came to look for a second-hand glover that was broken in and ready to use. He was going to play with in the next 4 days in Allstars. They did not have pre-owned gloves. They did offer us a ton of options and oiled and steamed a brand new one right then and there. The guy did mention they hadn't recovered pre owned gloves since covid (we see it a lot) they still had a tone of options. As a child, I remember my parents taking me to Play It Again Sports to buy sports equipment, either new or used. It is a fantastic idea especially as kids grow out of their equipment, or sometimes only play a season or two. Great place to get sports equipment for your growing kids! Or for yourself. Sometimes you want to try a new sport but the high prices of new equipment can be a deter, as it is a huge commitment. When bringing in your equipment to sell, remember the season for the sport because it could either be a lower resale value due to low demand. But if you don't mind and just need to clear your clutter at home, bring 'em down and they take a look at your items. They provide you with a quote, fill out the paperwork, give you the money, and then you're on your way! Or... with your money, you may go around looking through the store and possibly purchase something else. Of course, you'll have to also prepare yourself knowing that you won't get the highest bang for your buck when selling your used equipment because they are still a business, after all. But I don't mind because it's still money in my pocket, rather than it sitting there collecting dust or just donating it somewhere. Really friendly staff and quick service! read more

All my son's equipment was stolen from my car. We are talking about $3000 worth of stuff and I had a day to get it back together so my son could play. He took such good care of us. He made sure my son had enough that we could play again. He also took information on the stuff stolen and said he'd keep an eye out. I really appreciated that as my son had some very specialized stuff due to his size. When we left we were only short 3 difficult to size items. Gave me back hours to my day. Helpful staff. Store could be a little more tidy but not bad for a used sporting goods shop. The selection is wide and varied. The staff (as mentioned) is usually helpful... and usually can help you locate something that you are looking for over the phone. Definitely a random group that works here but overall good crew. The store loses a star for the prices on many of their items. I am not sure the metric that is utilized to determine used sporting goods pricing here but it is a little ridiculous on many items. I suppose it may have a bit to do with demand and availability, however I was looking for a hockey stick (ice hockey type... not exactly a booming sport in Southern California) and the prices for their selection of sticks were sitting near $50! ...and these sticks were beat up... prices for other items I looked at followed similar suit. In the end, don't come here expecting a great deal on everything you are looking for... however savings can be had... do your research and be open to online buying if you really need a deal. read more

I bought an electric golf caddy but the battery ended up being bad (tested it at autozone). I wasn't sure if it was the battery or the actual caddy itself. I formed the owner and their employees. They tested it and couldn't turn it on. I found a battery at harbor freight that could work. If it worked they agreed to reimburse me for the battery. Sure enough the battery worked. I love their concept and I don't like writing reviews that could potentially cost a place business or guests. However, if you have used Athletic Equipment you want to sell - I highly recommend using OfferUp instead of turning it in here for cash or "STORE CREDIT". I got $30 cash for an outfield softball glove and a wood bat. There was a 3rd item in that mix but I honestly can't recall what it was. I got $20 store credit for 2 pairs of cleats. Went in the other day to see if there was anything I need with my store credit. I see the glove in there being sold for $60, one of the pairs of cleats being sold for $40, and the bat is not on the rack (I'm guessing it sold and I'm curious for how much). So if the cleats sell? Do I get a cut in cash? How do I only get store credit and then you try to sell them for that much? I understand selling at a higher price...but to DOUBLE that amount on USED equipment I do not find to be justified. I worked at a Sporting Goods store back in the day. We would get BRAND NEW items at cost and sell the item for double. To undersell to customers that way is just not cool, but to each their own. I spent quite a bit of money here on equipment, several thousand dollars. Weights, treadmill, workout equipment. All was good when I bought everything and the guys working at the store were very polite and respectful. They delivered my wife and I's equipment and set it up in our new workout room. This was 2 weeks ago. Yesterday I went back to this location to purchase straps and some 5 pound plates as they had received a shipment and we drove 45 minutes to this store instead of buying locally in Huntington Beach. I was looking for 10 pound plates also. the young man informed me they had sold them all out and only have the five pound plates. As I entered the store the same young men greeted us and were very polite. I grabbed some weight and was getting some lifting straps also I was contemplating buying a curling bar. Suddenly an older man came out of the back of the store ignoring any of the other customers coming straight towards me. This fellow asked me if I needed any help I said no I have it handled. He then stated he cannot allow me to purchase more than 4, five pound plates. He stated he had a limit on how many I can purchase. At this time I noticed hundreds of pounds of weight in piles on the floor with receipts that were purchased over the phone, (which I was told previously they did not do). I then explained this and the older man became standoffish and rude. He told me those people spent 1700 dollars on a weight machine. And besides he no longer takes orders over the phone. I just then replied I spent thousands 2 weeks prior in his store and he said I recognize you so I will let you purchase more than 4 at this time. This was a lie as he was not in the store at all when I bought the other equipment. The way he explained it bothered me too. He came around from the counter and got right in my face and said wait a minute very aggressively. He clearly is an angry person, rude, bitter and a bad business man. You can buy baseball equipment, sports gear, tennis rackets, or any other type of sports equipment anywhere that sells what you are looking for. But I challenge anyone to find better customer service than that at "Play It Again Sports", in Fullerton, CA. I first telephoned to check if they had what I was looking to purchase. I had searched for a good year to find the equipment at a reasonable price. Fortunately for me, they had exactly what I wanted. I drove quite a distance to pick up the equipment. While in the store, the sales representative was friendly, polite, and extremely helpful. The owner, took the time to explain how to use the machine, going as far as to do a mini-demonstration lesson. I had tried watching YouTube videos, but much preferred the personal touch of someone showing me, exactly what to do. Additionally, there were many tennis rackets to select from. Price, make and styles varied. I narrowed down my selection to three rackets. Took those to Corey (owner/manager) and he inspected them and helped me narrow them down to the one that would be the best for me. Such service, such expertise, such professionalism. After my purchases, to top it off the equipment was carried to my truck by the most handsome young man working in the store. It was a completely positive experience all the way around. I have come here for years to trade or buy new and used equipment. The guys who work here have always treated me fairly. Those are likely the most important things with regards to this place. Not many used sporting good shops are nearly as well rounded as this joint. They have a lot of new and used goods here. they carry most types of sporting goods that you can imagine and regular workout gear as well. Pro Tip: They negotiate the cost of most of the stuff in their store, if you but try ;) This is one of the best places to purchase workout equipment. You can buy used equipment for 50-60% off of retail so that really helps. If you have nice useable gear, then you can likely get a decent amount of $$$ in return for it. Well its better than having it just sit in your garage when you realize that you will never use it again. Just imagine that huge elliptical or stairmaster that you got 5 years ago and used twice before you decided that new years resolution was worthless, well take that stuff here and get a few bucks back for it. Or If you upgraded your snowboarding or skiing gear, come here and get rid of the old gear. Definitely a good way to go get some additional space if you need it. They carry gear for every sport I can think of, hockey, lacross, baseball, football, cycling, snowboarding, skiing, watersports, surfing, you name it. I have made purchases for hockey (both ice n roller), snowboarding, and workout equipment over the years. Like I mentioned... I cant more highly recommend a place of this type. Talked to a gentleman named Al on the phone to get a quote for two baseball gloves I had. Both are high performance/level gloves (Mizuno Pro Limited and 1B Gold Glove). He was really rude to me when discussing figures, and he had some sort of prerogative to prove that I was asking too much for a $275 glove. I don't mind bartering, but being rude is never an excuse. This is not the first time I've had a problem with Play it Again Sports. Would never recommend them. They normally just have junky used equipment or outdated new equipment. Only thing they're really good for is surfboards in the Huntington Store. Overall go to Sports Authority, Chick's, Dick's, wherever. read more
