I walked into Pure Hockey as a first-time hockey mom knowing absolutely nothing about gear. I mean... nothing. Pads, sticks, sizing, what's required, pricing, what's optional, I was overwhelmed before I even walked in. At this point I've been here a few times and I'm quickly becoming a regular. My very first visit was with Ethan, and I hoped I'd run into him again. I was so relieved when I did. He walked my son and I through the entire store, helped size my kiddo properly, explained what everything was for, and answered all of my many mom questions without ever making me feel silly for asking. We were actually the last ones in the store right before closing, and not once did I feel rushed or pressured. As a mom trying to make sure her kid has what he needs (without buying the wrong thing), that meant so much. I felt supported and accommodated during what can honestly be a stressful process. I hate seeing negative reviews. Yes, the staff is young, but they are incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and kind. They take their time with you. They don't rush through fittings just to move on to the next person. So, if there's a bit of a wait, it's probably because they're giving another family the same care they gave mine, and I truly don't mind that at all. The staff here is wonderful. But Ethan is our favorite. We always hope he's there when we come in. read more

It was a very easy, fun and fast process. The store has so many choices in gear and apparel. Beware - they will sell you incorrect pads just to make the sale. These felt big at the time, but the salesman convinced us the 3" difference was fine and left him "room to grow". These are 35+2"!!!!! C'mon. They didn't have the correct size pads in stock and when we said we were going to Monkey Sports they offered us a small discount. A good salesperson would say "While I'd like to sell you these pads they aren't the right size." I will never shop at Pure Hockey again. read more

Are you making so much money that customer service is beneath you now? Because that's the only explanation for why you can't lift a single finger to answer a phone call or help paying customers. Five calls, five different times, five different days & months, and not one answered. Why bother advertising a number if it's just there for decoration? Last weekend I actually drove down because you guessed it NO ONE ANSWERED THEIR PHONE! 40 minutes of gas and time I'll never get back and dropped thousands of dollars in your store. Not because you earned it, but because I needed the gear. And what did I find? An EMPTY floor. Staff clustered together laughing like it's social hour, one poor guy chained to the skate sharpening area while the rest acted like they were on break at a theme park. Not one cared. Not one moved. Thankfully you had most of what I needed but not all, which again if I knew earlier I could have ordered it. Here's the kicker, I wasn't pissed about the prices I know hockey is stupid expensive. I was pissed that I'm paying thousands at a place that can't even provide the most basic service. Answering a phone. Offering help. Pretending for two seconds like customers matter. Parents like me bleed money into hockey. We juggle insane schedules, gas costs, fees, and somehow still show up. The least you could do is meet us 1/10th of the way and ANSWER THE STUPID PHONE! I'm sure the kids working the counter answer their cellphones non stop, it's always in their hand or pocket...playing pocket hockey. But instead, the message is loud and clear: You don't care. You don't care about the customer. You don't care about the loyalty. You don't care about the thousands spent. This place used to be a trusted go-to. Now it's just an overpriced hangout for employees who mistake "clocking in" with "checking out." So yeah, congratulations. You've officially made me never want to give you another dime. If ignoring customers is your business model, you're nailing it. Answer the damn phone. Help the people who keep your lights on. Or enjoy watching your business skate on to another store. I only went there due to loyalty, but places have popped up all over. You're not the only place in town. Giving you all 2 stars, just because I've been shopping at this location for over 14 years! Reading through several reviews was difficult not to notice the comments regarding customer service. I arrived on a a Sunday about 2PM and was greeted at the door and directed to where the "shinnys" were in my sons size. During my visit I asked a few people for help (first time in the store) amd found the customer service to be nothing like the bad reviews. A young man even went to the back to find my size XXL in Bauer coaching pants . Sunday was my birthday so ..... had to mosey into the skates section. I inquired about fitting using the Bauer custom fitting center. That was definitely an eye opener to what I though my shoe size was and reality. Several of my fellow officials rave about "True Skates". Was informed only the manager can fit you for these skates. A few minutes later a gentleman named Greg came over and provided a wealth of information regarding fitting and even took the time to fit my feet, twice. Once without my custom orthopedic insoles and one with. He created two profiles to send to True and stated he would e-mail them regarding which profile would be better. He handed me his card and stated he would be in contact soon. WOW all this on one visit. I found the customer service here to be exceptional. Nothing like the reviews I read. Stop by and see for yourself , ignore the noise of a few bad reviews. Some people just can not help themselves when writing reviews if things do not go there way. Besides I learned in business you can not please all the people all the time For today I was pleased with the service at Pure Hockey. Driving by it looks like it's closed. It's not. Park in the back and that's where the entrance is! Thank goodness because we traveled from L.A. to get a good deal on a hockey stick. One and done! Our first time at Pure Hockey in Anaheim. We had a really good experience and purchased a hockey stick for my 6 year old son. The staff was great, greeted us when we entered and checked on us while we were deciding on a hockey stick. They are extremely knowledgeable and helped us pick the right stick (size, weight, flex, curve) for our son. They trimmed the the stick to size (complimentary) and left room for growth. My 16 year old and i made an trip to OC a few days ago... micro center for his computer nerd stuff and pure hockey for skate sharpening...and of course i got him a new stick (which he needed). i am told that this is the best skate sharpening around (super excited that they are planning to open a location in San Diego!). The guy that helped us was so amazing and helped my son pick out the perfect stick. This is just a quick update. Took my skates in today to possibly look at getting some new insoles. Tom who was working behind the skate counter, came over and could not of been more helpful. He walked me through the different versions of the insoles, gave me the pros and cons. Then really as we dug down to it it might actually be in the rivets and not the insoles. You worked on those two rivets to flatten them out more, give me some additional tips on what else I could do to maybe help with that. The notice the skates for Dale offered to sharpen them and jumped on that right away. Tommy was above and beyond, great customer service. Talk about Disneyland for hockey player! I came to Pure Hockey (use to be Hockey Giant) since we got discount for playing in the Anaheim Throwback Classic Hockey Tournament. In Vegas no major store only selling all things hockey. I truly was kid in candy store. Pure Hockey they carry all the major brands for just about every piece of hockey equipment imagine. So the store is pretty huge. I love the way everything is separated from each other. The flow of the store is awesome. They also have full service ship in the store. Our goalie got his face cage (the grill) change they did it on the spot and quality work. If not little issues to sharpening skates or what not they got u covered. The prices are pretty fair range from the high end to the mid range equipment. The best part is u get try them on make sure it the right fit. The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I walked in and was greeted right away by this nice gentleman behind the skate desk, asking if he could help me with anything. I told him I needed my skates sharpened. The staff is great, they have a nice selection and it's local to work so it's a solid 5 stars for me. Some youth sizes were spotty but it could be because the season just started. I was able to find the "last one left" in my son's size so I don't know if PH will order if they're out the size you're looking for. Prices are comparable and some items are cheaper than other competitors. The VGHC apparel is the same but they are lacking in women's apparel. The Bauer cosmetic bag was $24 online and $20 at PH. I was going to use it as a cute hockey Mom purse; haha. Be sure to sign up for their rewards program. I got $10 free to spend which is a nice gesture. There's nothing quite like the feeling of driving almost an hour to this store and they don't have hardly any of the items you need. Can't tell you how many times I've driven all the way here and they didn't have the stick, the ref pants, the skates or sizes I needed. The people are always nice and they have done a great job fixing my skates and helping me with stick adjustments. Recently I have had to go back a few times for skates, trying to get the right size. This is not on any fault from pure hockey but regarding me being very picky trying to find just the right skate. The customer service has been amazing and these guys got me dialed in on a skate that I couldn't be happier with. If I could give 6 stars I would. Well worth the drive wherever you are coming from. This place is great! If you're looking for any type of hockey gear, this place has it. I would recommend coming here over any other hockey store, especially one that has a "chimp" in it's name. My son plays for an 8U team so we're going thru items fairly quickly. This year he was due for new skates, as well as me as I help coach his team. Went into the store a couple times within the last 2 weeks, and both times ALL the staff were very helpful. Ended up buying 3 pairs of skates and tryed on about 12 different pair, sizes, models, etc until we got the ones that felt perfect. The whole time, the staff didn't rush us, answered all our questions and did it with a smile. And, we didn't have to beg anyone to help us out either. They found us right as we walked in.
