Still though, they were my first experience with higher-end bikinis when I came to college, and when I was thin enough to wear those things I was too broke and when I was comfortable enough to afford them I was too fat. Isn't that usually the way? Since graduating UF, I rarely come down 13th Street, but today I figured I could re-visit. (Plus I had a 50% coupon from some nice peeps on Twitter--thanks!) The store is still laid back, surfboards akimbo, sunglasses flaring in their cases, shoes languidly hanging. There are no mannequins, and usually no more than two people at a time working behind the sales counter. The stuff is there, and the staff will only interact with you if you speak to them. They do not upsell, they do not follow you around. The merchandise is all there for you to browse at will. You either want it or you don't. The bikini situation was the same as always--the uglier they are, the more likely they are to fit. The cute, sassy ones? ... yeah, not quite made for someone of my proportions. Groan. Things haven't changed all that much, have they, Freeride? I guess I'll have to blow that coupon on a nice shirt or two ...

Most of the time when I have gone in there the store is either completely empty or only one customer shopping. I find it strange that all of the Yelp reviews are 5 to 10 Years old. Nothing recent. I took in 2 Totes of clothing. And then a couple months later, another tote of clothing. After 6 months I called them to ask if I had sold anything and they said I had $17 cash or $23 credit. Mind you, this was after waiting six months for things to sell. I was told it would take three months though for a check to be cut! After 3 months I still had not received the check so I called them and they told me I could just come on in and pick up the check. It really made me wonder if they are struggling financially, and if that's why they can't pay people in a timely manner. I asked if I could find out how much stuff I still had left there and I was told that they don't keep track of what has sold and what hasn't!!! I've never heard of a business working like that. I'm not trying to be mean, but I've just decided to let it go. Waiting 9 months to make $17 definitely is not worth my time and I honestly think they need the money more than I do. It's a shame because there aren't that many thrift stores and consignment shops in this area. But I honestly just feel like i'm done with Valerie's Loft.

I have been waiting 3 months to get my check. Every time I call back, they say it'll be 2 more weeks and then I never receive anything. I regret taking my clothes there.

They special ordered my very first (adult) bike and they've serviced all my bikes since. I 100% have enjoyed B&M's professional service and friendly employees. Until today. Two days ago I called and asked if I need an appointment to bring my bike in for servicing today (06/11/2026). "No, just come on in and we'll help you out." So I did. Rode my bike there and was greeted by Steven (Stephen?) who came outside and took a look at my bike. Not too much wrong "but we can't get to it today. If you want to bring it back,"....he says, and then I told him I spoke with a gentleman two days ago who said to bring it in today. His reply was, "Hmm. That sounds like something I'd say,". I told him I didn't get the man's name but that I was willing to leave my bike until they could get to it and he said he couldn't tell me how long that would be. (Which I completely understand). So, I thanked him for his time and told him I'd just go somewhere else and he replied, "ok," and we parted ways. I'm no avid cyclist but I do use my bike as my primary transportation and I've always been loyal to Bikes & More. Not anymore and no more recommendations to friends and others. Steven you were polite but obviously not interested. I wish you would have just said so.

There was one person finishing up a transaction, and before it was even over, one of the two workers asked how he could help me. I also needed a water bottle cage with my valve caps. As I stepped to pay, he informed me that they were FREE!! I know it just a little piece of plastic, but it always feels good to get free stuff! I have always been treated well here, and I am glad it is right on the 6th St bike path, because it is on my way.

If they had asked, I would've told them I had a pump at home, and am perfectly capable of using it. Obviously it was a relatively minor infarction ($10-$15), but I'm a 21 yo woman, already fairly apprehensive of going to a repair shop on my own. I was let down. Not sure what bike repair etiquette is, but performing a service without asking the customer and then charging them for it seems pretty inappropriate to me, no matter the SOP. My bike is fixed though, so that's nice.
