Sometimes it's all about the name. Items to Repurpose for all your Projects. It's that simple yet so important. This recently relocated not for profit business is settling in nice at their new digs. Inside you'll find all types of used or donated new items such as crafts, patterns, furniture, books, and some furniture. The selections constantly change as more items are donated so you can keep coming back and finding new goodies. Of most importance is all the reclaimed items outside. Anything made with wood such as windows, doors, shelving, 4 x 4's, chairs, etc. are nestled all around the sides of the building. You'll also find displays so if you're starting a new business these can come in handy. Actually the idea is to reclaim, repurpose, reuse, reduce, recycle, refurbish. Near to my heart especially is all the wood. These were once gorgeous living trees that would feed the animals and provide shade. When they were killed they took on a new life/purpose as shelving, paneling, doors or windows. When that purpose was filled they were then donated to The Repurpose Project to yet take on a third life/purpose that you can fulfill by purchasing them and making them useful again. Take a chance and do it yourself in lieu cutting down a new tree for your project. You'll make a great difference.

Anyway, I reached out to them because they have great reviews and are a local business. Suzanne was so understanding over email and we arranged a time to bring the chair in. Keep in mind - the person who had my chair before took it completely apart and I felt like it may be a lost cause. I met with Bill and he was so nice and also seemed shocked about the state of the chair (I'll include pictures). We talked a little bit and I had some fabric leftover, but I was still unsure about what would happen. He was pretty confident and let me know that he would see what he could do. I left it in his hands and was kind of busy for a few weeks. Unbeknownst to me, my boyfriend had checked in and left his number with them. He surprised me with it a few weeks later and I was so shocked that it was already done and how beautifully it came out. I am absolutely in love with the results and it came out better than I imagined! I am so thankful for their kindness, customer service, and workmanship. I will be doing business with them and recommending them from here on out; solid people.

I had considered just buying a new seat, but figured I should at least investigate the cost of just getting it recovered. I did some research and found Broadway Upholstery here in Gainesville. I have driven past the place countless times as it is on one of my routes between home and work, but never realized it was even there. I will chalk that up to it just being a place that I have never needed before, so it doesn't fit into my visibility. So I went in and talked to the guys there, showed them the seat, and they said it would not be a problem and gave me a quote that I found to be quite reasonable. Brought the seat in the next day, and they had it recovered in a couple of hours. I also looked at some of the other work that they were doing in the workshop, and their craftsmanship was excellent. It looks as good as new! The vinyl covering is thicker than it was originally, which means it should last at least as long as the original did. A great job, and I definitely recommend these guys for your recovering needs.

I was excited to get my chair reupholstered so didn't think twice. A few months passed with no update or reply and the window that we talked about lapsed. I messaged 2 different numbers that I had with no reply. In mid-June, I had to message on all social media platforms to get a response. I was told that there were setbacks which I understood so I waited again. The responses and updates stopped which made me nervous. I worried first if he was okay and what was going on. In September, I contacted the police because I was getting no response and advised him that I would be going to small claims court because I only wanted my chair back as this was at 5 months. He told me again that a lot had happened and he was now in Georgia. I would have accepted bad things happening as I understand completely, but he took my chair 2 hours North without advising me. I told him again I would be patient and he promised that my chair would be done 1 week prior to Christmas. I got zero communication and finally just asked for my chair back because this was ridiculous. He advised that it wasn't done still and that would be even more work which would cost more. I would not have minded paying more for necessary work last year, but seeing as I have waited for 10 months at this point - I was over it and it just felt like a cash grab. He gave me an address for pick up so now I had to drive an extra 4 hours total to pick up my chair. It was not in an area that i'm familiar with and was a dead end road which made me very nervous. I contacted the sheriff so we could have an escort and they did come which was nice, but I could tell he was bothered however as a woman in an unfamiliar area - I would rather be safe than sorry. I did get my chair, but it is in pieces - 10 months of waiting and it's half done...in pieces. I was livid and tried to keep my composure. It's disheartening when businesses have no accountability. I can understand personal and business setbacks - but when you can't do something - just advise so that the customer can make that decision. Now, i'm out a chair and $450.
