I had a funky problem. One of my aftermarket wheels on my Mustang would no longer accept the lug wrench that I had been using for years. Don't ask me how or why this happened! Anyway, I got a flat and could not change the tire. I went to three auto parts places and bought the size (thin-walled socket) that would fit in there. None of them worked!! A friend suggested Repurpose/Reuse spot. I went in there, and explained it to the attendant. He found a box of mismatched sockets, and I bought two of them FOR A DOLLAR EACH!! It worked!! I was so happy!! Next time I am coming here first!! I also want to go back and check out their tools and other stuff that I did not have time to look at! read more

An awesome place for thrifting. Tons of artists materials, mixed media, scrapbooking, junk journaling, sewing, watercolor, etc. Be inspired to make something or use an oldie but goody for something totally different than the purpose it was made for. If the price seems high make an offer on what you value it to be, if reasonable, you should get it. Enjoy the hunt. read more

Repurpose is a Gainesville gem. I have found so many awesome things there and look forward to going. The mission is awesome. That said, the staff can sometimes be a bit bristly and the pricing is totally hit or miss. Some things I feel I'm underpaying and other things feel so overpriced. I wish there were a little more transparency in the form of signs throughout the store giving you at least an idea of what you'll pay. It seems like one random thing might cost you $2 but a pile of six of the same thing also costs $2? A lot of people have complained about this and I think it keeps a lot of people from going or buying more. Some of the employees have a bit of an attitude and I kind of dread interacting with some of them. At the end of the day Gainesville would be a lot worse off without it, but they could improve a bit. read more

I've seen ads for The Repurpose Project before. If you are an up-cycler, re-cycler, craft-nik, or projecteer- this is a place for you. Wander. Look. Bring a tape measure. Have an idea or get one while browsing. This place is great. I got a ridiculously un-loved chair here that I plan to reupholster and update. I can't wait to go back- after I complete my current projects! read more

Good place to donate "stuff". Downsize and organize...these guys will repurpose the items! Near Satchels, so go get a slice afterwards. They also picked up a large heavy office desk from our home. read more

We are addicted to this place! We go about twice monthly. We are never there with a purchase or project in mind, however we always leave with items to finish our current DIY renovation or things for new DIY projects. They have a great selection of used/abandoned appliances, doors, tile, furniture, 2x4 and 9x12's (and all the 2x's in between) ceramic tile ($.50 ea. isn't a great deal on used tile), old and newer windows, shutters, kitchen sinks (so you can say they have it all inc. the kitchen sink LOL), and then the wood...OMG the wood! It's amazing. 100 year old Heart Pine and Cedar and Cypress just to name a few. They know what they have as far as the worth of the wood though so don't expect it to be to cheap. They will cut the wood for you. ALL of that in one place! And that's just outside! **Inside is NOT and I repeat NOT air conditioned** Windows are open and fans running but still hot!!! There are a lot of inventory categories inside as well. No clothes that I've seen but rustic to antique decor, beads, vinyl (pretty sure that's a newer category), frames both empty or framed art. Full of office supplies, fabric, electrical, blinds, jars crafty stuff...I could go on and on and on and on. The volunteers are helpful and negotiating prices at the register is 1/2 the fun! ALWAYS A GOOD DEAL though. I'd love to give it 5 stars and they are worthy of them but the outside...I get the flea mkt., volunteer, tree hugger, green, organic, recycled, refurbished, reused, upcycled vibe. I GET IT, I APPRECIATE IT. But please can you send someone out to at least make sure the outside is safe?!? I've been scratched by nails on wood and bumped and bruised many many times. I actually decided it was best (in mid-July) to wear my Justin muck boots the last time we went! Plain and simple the place is cool. Whether you're into vintage, shabby sheek, DIY or just killing time this is the place. You may even run into a patron that will tell you the history of your purchase, like what demo'ed building in G'ville it came from and how old it is (true story). read more

I LOVE to thrift shop and I've been (I thought) to every thrift store in gainesville. I hit a few every weekend just to walk around waiting to find exactly what I want/need. (I'm patient hehe) Any who, I wouldn't consider this a thrift store but still a place to hit up! I love crafts and this has so many things. And what's cool... You name your own price. ^.^ I found a bunch of great candles, craft pens, fabric, and some old chairs that just needed a little TLC. Most of the stuff is broken pieces or perhaps leftovers. Unwanted stuff that can be turned into something awesome if you want it to and have a little craftiness in ya. ^.^ Only giving it 4 instead of 5 stars because (the last few times I was there, not sure what it looks like now) is it was pretty dirty. That's not a deal breaker for me at all, but I think a place can be cluttered and have "cool junk" and still be swept and dusted. I'm sure people drop off stuff that wasn't cleaned already and it's a big place so might be hard to maintain, but it could definitely use a little scrub down. read more

Sometimes it's all about the name. Items to Repurpose for all your Projects. It's that simple yet so important. This recently relocated not for profit business is settling in nice at their new digs. Inside you'll find all types of used or donated new items such as crafts, patterns, furniture, books, and some furniture. The selections constantly change as more items are donated so you can keep coming back and finding new goodies. Of most importance is all the reclaimed items outside. Anything made with wood such as windows, doors, shelving, 4 x 4's, chairs, etc. are nestled all around the sides of the building. You'll also find displays so if you're starting a new business these can come in handy. Actually the idea is to reclaim, repurpose, reuse, reduce, recycle, refurbish. Near to my heart especially is all the wood. These were once gorgeous living trees that would feed the animals and provide shade. When they were killed they took on a new life/purpose as shelving, paneling, doors or windows. When that purpose was filled they were then donated to The Repurpose Project to yet take on a third life/purpose that you can fulfill by purchasing them and making them useful again. Take a chance and do it yourself in lieu cutting down a new tree for your project. You'll make a great difference. read more

The Repurpose Project is one of the most ethically-, socially-, and environmentally-friendly businesses around, and the people who make it happen are considerate, helpful, and often very clever. I've found any number of things to help me complete projects around my house, from reclaimed wood for baseboards to glass knobs for antique doors to decorative cap nuts for ceiling light hardware. I've also found any number of things I didn't know I wanted until I saw them. read more

If you are looking for a thrift store, go to Salvation Army. There is nothing thrifty about The Repurpose Project and judging from my trip today, they have over extended themselves with the new building and are money grubbing with both fists. The two little partial lengths of yarn that wouldn't have amounted to half a skein were quite overpriced at a total of $3.00, an open, oxidized package of hooks and eyes was $0.50, and the cashier felt it was necessary to look up the RETAIL price of an unopened package of refrigerator magnets, which I picked up from a shelf marked $2 to $5. She then determined that an appropriate price was half of retail. Really? Am I missing something, are the goods still donated and much of the labor volunteer? Decided I didn't need any of it and it will be quite sometime before I make the drive again, if at all. But, if you want to feel like you are donating to the cause and want a SLIGHT savings on items, by all means, these are your people. read more

Cool place to look for art inspiration, buy inexpensive art supplies, they've got everything from tile to fabric to golf balls. Great place to donate your leftover art supplies- I even donated gift wrap and it all adds to the random hipster awesome of the place. read more

For those who love to do it from scratch (& for very little $), this business has earned five stars. For those of us untalented & who must hire others to do the work (or suffer w/ new brass & glass-- blah), not so much five stars. I came for the photo opt, but did speak w/ 3 lovely older ladies requesting vinyl help on the difference between The Manhattan Transfer & Mannheim Steamroller, & I stuck around to hear the interaction among the two younger staffers & other customers. (It was professional, knowledgeable, & friendly.) I noticed the prices on vintage hanging lamps (very good), along with how organized & well-labeled aisles were. And, I took extra time salivating over all the metalwork & window frames on the parking side (& over the hoards of reclaimed wood on the west side-- no pic unfortunately). The laughter emanating from the children's recycled playground was a wonderful touch. When you first arrive, it's an easy drive in & easy parking. Then it's an easy dive around back & out. You're just a couple of buildings east of Satchel's on the same side of the road. This store is not for me due to ineptitude & a severe lack of creative drive, but it would be an artisan's palace. Lots & lots of wood canvases! And scrapbooking materials, too! If you can't locate a price on an item, you name it. I'm impressed w/ this eco-friendly establishment. Love this place, and the friendly volunteers who keep things in order (don't ask me how). Had a great time looking, picking, and circling. Three trips to the car later, I made myself leave. There's so much more than what's on the website. For folks with creative imaginations, you can find SOMEthing to rework, recycle, and hand over to the kids for craft projects without ruining your budget The friendly folks have great suggestions, too, for those of us with rusty brain cells. read more

I like the idea of the repurpose project. Unfortunately the reality is that the place is a rip off. Most of what they sell is junk and the few things of value are left out in the rain to rot. There is very little organization and searching for things to buy might require a tetanus booster. Last time I went there I was looking at large 4x6 pieces of pressure treated lumber that they were advertising on craigslist. They had the size and length of the lumber that I wanted, albeit a bit worn (thats ok because its repurpose right?). The prices on the lumber were a few bucks less than brand new lumber at lowes. Not worth the aggravation or pittance of a discount. read more
