Our orders were taken and prepared relatively quickly, but it was pretty disorganized getting our order with all the other customers crowding the pickup counter and the loud music making it hard to hear when your name is called. I got the Dragonberry pitaya bowl, which was topped with a good portion of delicious honey, granola, and fresh blueberries and strawberry slices. Food: Playa is seriously overpriced, even using my birthday voucher with $5 off, I still paid $6.94 for the CHEAPEST bowl. Store: What really turned me off was the store. As soon as you enter the store you are greeted by a lovely atmosphere. The space is not very big, but I would say it is of a decent size and it's also very bright, which I love.The cashier immediately greeted me with a smile, which I really appreciated. As a first timer I decided to go with a classic: the Nutella bowl. I ordered a Nutella bowl but with a base of half açaí and half mango. The service was pretty fast and the sitting area is clean. The bowl tasted to good and fresh. I loved the taste of the açaí way more then the taste of the mango base. The coconut flakes and the Nutella were the perfect addiction to make the bowl taste delicious. I honestly can't wait to be back once the weather gets hotter. Made a mistake by giving them a second chance but boy, did I have an even worse experience. I decided to get a gift card for a friend's birthday. Upon asking for it, the guy at the register asks for my credit card and immediately charges the payment. He doesn't ring up or load the gift card first which is really strange... After getting a receipt for the gift card, he then attempts to load money onto the actual gift card. You can clearly tell that he is struggling because he keeps scanning the card and tapping on the register. The guy next to him tells me to wait while he goes off to make someone's order. It's been maybe ten minutes and then the cashier calls someone who I think is the manager. They continue to talk while he keeps retrying to load the gift card. I get absolutely no acknowledgement of how long this would take or why this is taking so long in the first place. Finally I tell the guy that it's taking too long and would just like a refund instead. He hangs up the phone, tells me he'll get me the refund and gets me a receipt to confirm the return. I don't get an apology whatsoever. I get that sometimes technology glitches or maybe this is the first time someone has ordered a gift card, but the fact that you charge someone before you scan or enter a product AND don't apologize for such poor customer experience is absolutely appalling. I really hope management sees this and trains their whole team to make sure this doesn't happen again. Right after I left, I went to another smoothie place in Harvard Square to get a gift card. Guess what? This place actually loaded the card before swiping my credit card! read more

I am so happy I found Playa Bowls! Its so hard to find a good quality Acai Bowl place and one that actually tastes good. While pet sitting for a dog I was seeing what was around the area and what places I could explore and Playa Bowls popped right up. I was so excited to try it out and it was very convenient to order ahead and pick up. The store was so cute and very clean, although I will say parking around that area is a little hard so just beware. As for the bowl I was blown away with the quality. Fresh fruit, yummy peanut butter and the acai was the perfect consistency! Overall, I am so happy I found this place and will most definitely return to get another bowl. A great place for a smoothie bowl! I got the February special which was the "Bae Bowl". It was really good with pitaya and stupid Cupid base. The fruit on top was fresh, and the granola was nice and crunchy. I'm pretty sure they either forgot or ran out of white chocolate, but that's a very small thing that I almost didn't notice. I'm taking off a star because this place is not wheelchair accessible I wasn't able to go inside because there are two stairs at the front door, so my sister went in for me. It's too bad because I'd like to come here again in the future, but I don't think I'll be back at this location. The locations on 277 Huntington and 2199 Commonweath are both wheelchair accessible, and I'll go there instead.
