Delicious!! So many options for smoothies, juices, and bowls (including oatmeal). The downside is the parking - have to pay to park for street parking. Easier to walk here. Inside is welcoming but was very hot. High ceilings with lots of seating and friendly staff. I got the green smoothie and #5 oatmeal bowl with added peanut butter. Food came out decently quick. The oatmeal bowl was nice and hot. The oatmeal bowl was so good - creamy oatmeal with plenty of toppings. I was impressed with the portion size. The green smoothie was so smooth and yummy! While at MSU from out of town my daughter and I visited this place twice. We are obsessed with açaí bowls. My daughter got a smoothie one day and the next night we went and got bowls (she an açaí and myself a pitaya) I also had their juice and immunity shots. Highly recommend. The only reason I didn't give 5/5 is the wait - the staff was working super hard but we did have quite a long wait & they were making multiple to go orders ahead of ours. read more

My family and I decided to go to Playa Bowls for a light meal. There were so many choices to choose from on their menu and I liked how the bowls were itemized based on the base -- acai, coconut, pitaya, green, and banana. I decided to go for the green power bowl because it includes vanilla protein, almond butter, granola, and banana which would keep me fuller. The turn around time was pretty quick as opposed to other reviews but maybe because it's not a busy time of the year. I enjoyed my bowl as it wasn't too sweet in general. The granola was crunchy, banana was sweet and the almond butter helped put it all together. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area in the future. read more

Their açaí bowls are great, but the service is horrendous. I keep coming back because the bowls are good, but it's ALWAYS a long wait and is not the place to come for a quick lunch. Update: Playa Bowls, we DID order ahead! The issue is that the staff member didn't realize the order was ready and in the fridge. We waited 20 minutes and our bowls were just sitting there. What would you suggest we do in that instance? Do you recommend customers ask your staff to check the fridge upon arrival? read more

This place has such an amazing variety of healthy fruit bowls or smoothies. I have ordered from here many times, always trying something different. But I think my favorite is the Stupid Cupid bowl. Their fruit bowls come with a frozen fruit blend base and topped with fresh fruit and any other toppings you'd like! I definitely recommend giving this place a try if you're looking for a healthy and ultimately refreshing meal. read more

Last weekend I went back to my alma mater MSU for my coaches retirement party and had the pleasure of stopping in to Playa Bowls on Grand River Ave. after my morning run for a fantastic açaí smoothie bowl. The atmosphere was fun, and chic and the staff friendly and efficient. It was definitely filling and the seating and environment was cozy and allowed me a much needed rest after my 4 mile jaunt! Highly recommend this place if you want a healthy breakfast. The menu was extensive, almost overwhelming they have something for everyone. I had the strawberry, Nutella açaí bowl with an add on of peanut butter which has an açaí base with fresh strawberries and bananas topped with homemade granola and Nutella & peanut butter sauce. Stopped in with a friend after an event with no intentions of getting a bowl but every bowl that came out looked so delicious that I had to try one. Run, don't walk!! Playa Bowls is the new best place in town!! They have a large menu, excellent customer service, and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. The portions are extremely generous, and everything is always so fresh. I love how they also have vegan and gluten-free alternatives. Speaking as a college student, I am so excited to see this in East Lansing because we needed healthier options close to campus! Go check it out, I promise you won't be disappointed. read more

The bowls were delicious. I especially loved the coconut base and it's great that you can choose two bases, since there are so many options. The green base was a bit slimy in texture though. I would not recommend that base. The atmosphere was a bit sad though since the staff is mandated to still wear masks, so they couldn't show their smiling, beautiful faces.
