It was ready pretty quickly, and I thought it was pretty good overall, similar to the experience I've had elsewhere. I was with my parents, and they tried some but weren't the biggest fans, but I thought it was pretty good. My friends and I decided to stop by this mall for some food and dessert before we went home. I decided to get playa bowls because it is sweet and I've been craving it for a while. I ordered the nutella acai bowl and replaced the bananas with blueberries. I thought the fruits were pretty fresh-- the blueberries were big and sweet. Even though the portion is definitely a bit small for its price, it was a very filling bowl. Overall, I thought the bowl tasted very delicious. Although Playa Bowls is a bit pricey, I'll probably be back because I love their acai bowls. read more

Traveled here alllllllllll the way from brooklyn because I love freehold mall and the fact that playa is great for a late night food run!! Put two together and you get a late night adventure to freehold mall. It says Playa Bowls is open until 9:30 on Monday and we arrive at 8:45 and see two other girls asking if they're open and these two employees say "no we're closed" without even looking up. I am appalled at this because why have your hours say open until 9:30 if you're going to close a whole hour early???? Just to stand in the back and be on your phone and then proceed to clean up early? There were at least two other couples who stopped by to ask if they are open and they said no each time. Do the math; 8 people asking if you're open, ready to buy a 12 dollar bowl. That's over 100 dollars (with tax) playa bowls is losing because these two want to decide to close early for no reason and just fool around in the back and be on their phones. I am extremely disappointed at how unprofessional they are. I have nothing against Playa Bowls and I personally love Playa. I have it about 2-3 times a week but this location needs to learn how to treat their customers and be professional Update: I really appreciate Rob reaching out and making things right. I absolutely love Playa Bowls. There are a ton now when I visit back home by the shore and there is also one around the corner from my office. My coworker and I go very often. This was my first time visiting the freehold location. It is located in the far back right corner of the food court. Obviously it is a bit loud because you are right in the middle of the food court. They got pissed off even though I tipped them. Then as the girl is making the new one she makes it and doesn't add the protein powder that was in the original one. someone should tell the super young girls working there that oatmeal is served hot and shouldn't be put in the fridge for a takeout order. freezing cold bag and the first girl just stared at me when I asked why my oatmeal was cold. some second girl came out from the back and says "all pickup orders go in the fridge" when I told her oatmeal was supposed to be served hot (also I get oatmeal from several different playas and no others have been in the fridge) she got snippy and told me if it's cold she will remake it but assured me it wasn't, despite the bag being frozen. it ended up being lukewarm but I didn't feel like dealing with the collective 2 brain cells the SIX employees had. six. for a tiny stand. and the one girl who was clearly not friends with the two I dealt with was stuck not only chopping fruit, but also fielding questions and customer contact. surprised this place stays open. read more

I love playa bowls. I eat them about 2-3 times a week, every week and I always get them same thing each time that I go. Inconsistency is expected but it never fails at this location. It's so frustrating... only when I come here to this freehold locations, the employees hesitate to greet me, they take an extremely long time to finish my order(when there is no one else in line), and they make the bowls very poorly and unenjoyable. The açaí base is always completely soupy, it's never thick like I receive from every other location I go to.. it seems that they sprinkle the granola in the bowl rather than give a hearty scoop to be able to enjoy.. and then they absolutely drown it in peanut butter. I can never taste anything else because every single time I come, regardless I preface to keep the peanut butter light, they always drown it on top to where I can't taste anything but peanut butter. I really like Playa Bowls a lot. I've heard bad things about this Playa Bowls, but I really enjoyed it. The fruit was very sweet and was very well mixed in with the acai. The food was very filling as well. Everything tasted freshly made and the bowls are cheap as well. There isn't as big of a selection as other Playa Bowls locations, but this is inside a mall, so it makes sense to me. Staff was friendly, and asked us about any questions we had on the menu. It was a great experience! One minor quibble was that some acai pieces tasted a little frozen, but I still enjoyed my meal. read more

This Playa Bowl location is Top Notch! Servers are polite and friendly. The bowls look beautiful. The fact that they have takeout throughout Covid has been amazing. After discovering Playa Bowls near me in East Brunswick, I was delighted to find this one here in the food court of my favorite mall. This location definitely lived up to the one by me. I tried the Goji Bowl, and was delighted with how fresh and filling it was. This place is a great find among all the unhealthy options that the food court offers. Came here last night for a healthy and clean snack. While I was being rung up, I had nooooo idea what to order. I asked the cashier, Kiera, and she said to order to the Nutella Bowl, and that it's her favorite. I did, and it came out super quickly. I had some questions as to what was in it, and she delivered, easily reciting each ingredient so I knew exactly what I was getting. The girls behind the counter with her seemed like they were hard at work to get those orders out. Myself working two jobs in food service, I know the struggle with keeping up. No matter, both the girl helping me and her coworkers seemed super sweet and kind, and made sure that I was satisfied with my order. Disappointed. Ordered a bowl, and it was half frozen, my Nutella was hard & granola was soggy as if it was in the fridge and premade.

This location has very poor management. I'd love to tell my disappointing experience to the owners of this restaurant or Rob.

We love playa bowls but unfortunately this location doesn't live up to the name. The last time we went there my smoothie had huge chunks of kale, it was barely blended and if I wanted to drink my smoothie, I was going to have to do a lot of chewing. My husband ordered a bowl (everyone who goes knows the bowls aren't cheap) and it was mostly granola with a thin layer of açaí topped with a good amount of topping. We also had to wait an awful long time for these half made items. So disappointed. Don't let this place discourage you from eating playa bowls, most of the other locations are great! read more

I love playa bowls but the kids they hire to work there are awful. I work in the mall and sometime it's nice to get a break from fried food but I am so tired of waiting for my order to get taken and being stared at for 5 minutes while these employees finish gossiping about there weekend. i have been enjoying playa bowls since they were a stand in belmar. i was ecstatic to hear they were opening one in the freehold mall food court since i work in the mall and am there 5/7 days a week. i have gotten açaí bowls 2-3 times a week since they opened in this location. last wednesday i went on my break to get a power bowl with strawberries instead of peanut butter as i usually do. the guy that took my order was extremely nice, i was excited to tip him. however, the next day i had checked my bank account and realized he accidentally charged me twice for the one bowl. i had went to playa bowls around 1 on thursday before my shift to explain to them, and show them, that the employee had just made a mistake. a brunette girl taking orders was confused and told me she cannot access the previous days transactions and that she cannot refund me which i had understood. she said "oh it was one of the boys?" and "he only charged you 10.66?" as i explained what i had ordered. as i was informing her on the mistake on playa bowls end, a blonde girl making bowls next to her repeatedly said to her, not a word to me, "that's impossible there's no way if the card was swiped once." i explained that he may have swiped my card twice, i wasn't the one swiping it. the girl taking orders said "well it's on her bank account" and offered me a free bowl. i was appreciative she offered me a free bowl as i was not paying 21.32 for one bowl, the customer service was horrible and they were extremely rude and not pleasant. yesterday at work i was thinking of getting a bowl on my break but i will not be buying from playa bowls freehold anymore. read more
