I really love this place but it is SO crazy expensive. Unfortunately I think they will lose business by pricing people out, me included.

Almost Heaven is a quite popular baked goods, coffee, and pie/cake shop. I understand that the…read moredemand for the goods is high and the staff may be shorthanded, so I'm taking that into consideration. Trying to keep up with everything is challenging with low staff. The aesthetic of the edifice is alluring enough, and they do a great job with decorations. You're met with the sight of coffees, croissants, cheesecakes, and other goods that look very promising. However, what Almost Heaven does well with visuals, they lack in quality of food, which, as a restaurant, shouldn't be neglected. Regarding the former, the upkeep and cleanliness of the inside could certainly be improved. There were fruit flies in the display shelves and in the air, some dusty spider webs on the hanging lights above, and there were noticeable crumbs on the floors/tables. Again, I understand that there may not be enough staff, but the sight of fruit flies on the cookies and cheesecakes is off-putting. Regarding the food, there is a wide selection of sweets, from milkshakes, smoothies, cookies, cannolis, cheesecakes, and others. There's also paninis, melts, and other sandwiches with breakfast and lunch varieties. I have tried the Mountain Mama and the Breakfast Melt Croissant; the former was actually quite good but the latter was nothing special. I've tried the hot chocolate, several different cookies, a slice of the classic cheesecake, and the seasonal pumpkin pecan caramel pie. Unfortunately, I wouldn't order any of these again. Everything was too forward with sweetness. I get that desserts are supposed to be sweet, but it was almost as if the whipped cream was store-bought and that there was far too much sugar in the stale chocolate chip cookie. I'm not sure how long the desserts are kept in the displays, but it seems that it's too long. Lastly, wait times can take a while. I once ordered only a panini and waited 18 minutes for it to come out, and the pretzel bun was burnt. Ordering a coffee or other drink doesn't seem to have long wait times, however, so it's possible that the staff was prioritizing easier orders. Still, if the sandwich is "premade" as one of the employees mentioned, then 18 mins is too long to wait for one thing. Overall, if I could give 2.5 stars, I would, but I'll round up because I haven't tried the entire menu. Certainly a lot of room for improvement for AHD. The price for the quality of food is very mismatched, and unless they get better ingredients and have fresher goods, then I'll have to skip out of visiting the bakery again.

I stopped in recently with my daughter and her boyfriend to grab a sandwich for me and açaí bowls for them. I initially wanted a sandwich that I was informed they were out of so I opted for the Avocado Sunrise and I'm kinda glad the other sandwich was not available because it was excellent. The employees here aren't always very friendly or welcoming and could definitely improve their customer service skills, but I try to never judge people for who they are because who knows what's going on in their lives, but I'd say you'd get a lot more repeat new customers if that was corrected and if they leave their attitudes and/or problems at home. The atmosphere is cool as it's located in an old building that was remodeled years ago and they did an excellent job of keeping all of its charm and glory. I highly recommend that you try all of their deserts, but tbh with you anything you get you'll be glad you did. Enjoy :)

I tried the Electric Mango Bowl, which came with granola, green apples, mangoes, biwi, strawberries, passion fruit syrup, and coconut shavings. So refreshing and flavorful! There was definitely a generous amount of toppings compared to the base. The bowl looked a bit small at first, but I was surprisingly full by the end. I think it's really fun that they offer different fruit bases. I would be interested in trying their signature Aruba Ariba bowl, which is a tropical blend of Electric mango, Blue Spirulina, & Dragon fruit bases. Service was fast--my bowl was made quickly. Since I ordered it to-go, they wrapped it in saran wrap and tin foil to help insulate the coldness, which I appreciated. My only small note is that it got a little too sweet toward the end. Still, a great spot if you're craving something tropical and vibrant!

For brunch, I bought the Aruba Ariba Bowl, Monkey Madness Tosti, and Aruba Sunset Smoothie. My husband had no interest in ordering anything. The total price was $33 plus tax and tip. Several minutes later, my foods were ready. I ate my meal inside the restaurant, which had plenty of tables and seating, including a swing. The foods tasted fresh and sweet. We did notice flies flying around. Later, the business downloaded my photos of my foods from my Instagram and posted them on their Instagram, Facebook, and business website without asking me for permission, crediting me by name, and compensating.

This was my first time going here and I was so excited to try it out!…read moreI ordered a Munchkin Nutter Butter wrap, a buffalo chicken wrap, and a Vitamin C juice. I ordered online, as recommended, and was disappointed to see the menu provided by the owner had different prices. $2+ more expensive per item than what was shown. That wasn't a deal breaker, I know food costs have gone up, but that added a decent amount to my total. When I went to pick up my food, the restaurant was empty. I stood there for a couple minutes, but no one showed up. I said hello, but no one showed up. I said hello AGAIN, a minute later, but nothing. (Side note: the in restaurant prices match the menu) I called while standing in the restaurant and no one picked up the phone. I waited eight minutes and finally a guy exited the bathroom, asked me if I was there for a pickup, put my juice on the counter and walked away. After getting to my car, I see on top of being charged extra for ordering online, there is also an online ordering fee! I spent over $30 on the three items pictured below. Maybe this was an off day. The juice was decent, so definitely give that a try and go in to order. Save yourself at least $5.

The buffet at Whole Foods will forever be (as long as I've lived so far) my favorite buffet of all…read moretime, and this is coming from someone who truly appreciates the buffet experience, especially because of the variety, even though I don't "binge" the way I used to anymore for health reasons, and the buffet is take-home only (I think?). Not only is there such a wide variety of tasty food at the Whole Foods buffet, but you actually feel healthy eating it, and you can make it highly nutritious. You can get excited about the salads, or the roasted vegetables, or the orange chicken, or even that herb feta that you can quite frankly put on anything and everything. The way they make their orange chicken is honestly my favorite. I'm not usually someone who gets excited about orange chicken, but the way they do it here (it's just amazing) and hard to beat. I also love that I can mix together a bunch of healthy salads at once, and I really appreciate the flavor profiles and the freshness (it just elevates the whole experience). I'm honestly forever inspired by this place. It makes me want to look up recipes, learn how different flavors go together, and experiment on my own. It's as much a learning experience as it is a health experience. Anyway, I know it's not cheap, but for me, it's still really worth it. It's consistently something that makes me feel "renewed" so I'm going to keep it as a part of the routine as long as I can afford it. Another cool perk is that if you're a Prime member, you get 5% back if you use your Chase/Whole Foods/Amazon setup. And honestly, the customer service at Chase Bank is the best, and Prime is convenient, so it all just goes together; and while I realize they're kind of taking over the world right now (they are), they're doing it in a way that works for me, so it is what it is. Also, the kale salads (people really need to understand how good kale can be when it's done right) are nothing short of life changing and it can give you the inspiration you need to make it yourself. In addition to the hot bar, they also have specialty items I can only really find here (like Pacha bread, seed crackers, unsweetened coconut yogurt, broccoli greens, organic baby kale greens, and a bunch of other unique, healthy options that are honestly really exciting). That said, baseline prices are definitely high. For example, tart cherry juice at Whole Foods is literally around $14, whereas at Target (across the street) it's more like $5. So it's one of those things where you kind of have to go back and forth and be strategic about what you buy where. Let's face it, Whole Foods is not leading the world in cheap prices. Because it's pricey, you do have to be real and shop at other grocery stores when you can, but every time I go, I can't help myself from getting at least a little bit of the buffet food if it's open, because that's really where it's at.
