The dunes are simply stunning and give certain areas of the beach a special feeling of serenity despite it being populated by many tourists, as It's truly a treat to just swim immersed by the sands and the sea, without any distracting promenades (plus, at some spots the dunes even allow some growth of various desert bushes which you can conveniently hide under when the sun gets too intense).
On the other hand, if busy promenades and a lot of bars and shops is what you want, just move along a few minutes down the beach and you have all that too.
Know that some areas of the beach are dedicated to nudists - but that's a small minority.
The sand here is pleasantly fine-grained and smooth, and the entrance into the sea is pleasantly gradual. The waves can get quite intense, though, but I suppose that's just the nature of Atlantic, not a fault of the beach itself.
