The down side of this beach is many vendors walking to try and sell you their homemade foods (questionable), and everything requires cash only. Be prepared, but don't leave your items or bags on the chairs. Lots of trash left on the beach, even though we were told it was very clean. People smoking pot everywhere, so everywhere you are, you are down wind of it...doesn't make for a pleasant beach experience. Enjoy the views, because that's about all you will enjoy during your visit, although I did eat the best empanada I ever ate at a stand at the entrance of the beach for $3.50. At 4:30, The Beach Boys grab up your shade and lounger so you have to go find another place to sit, or just do yourself a favor and go to Playa Pinones, drive through the food area and just past you will find the most beautiful, private beach areas there and the best food. My only negative experience was with parking. A park attendant directed us to a specific area to park, and we later returned to find a parking ticket on our vehicle. After speaking with a city employee, we heard this happens quite often. Whether it was a misunderstanding or not, it definitely put a damper on an otherwise enjoyable visit. Aside from that, the beach itself was clean, welcoming, and a great place to spend a day by the ocean.

A busy beach worker was setting up the chairs and umbrellas, and informed us that the chairs would be $20 for two and $15 for the umbrella. Luckily, I had cash on me which was a miracle..LOL! Once he finished setting up he advised that all guests of Marriott properties, chairs and umbrellas are complimentary.... BET! All you have to do is show your room key and BAM, I saved $35 bucks! I did give him a nice tip for the info because we would have never known and just paid the fee! I wanted to kick myself for only coming on our last day because it was truly the island vibe I enjoy.. It has a more local, laid-back feel compared to some of the busier tourist beaches. The sunset views are beautiful, and it's a great spot to take a walk along the shore. Overall, it's a great place to relax and enjoy a more natural side of Puerto Rico.

well, this is not something must do when you are in Puerto Rico, but hey, there are some photos…read morefrom the trip which shout "Yeah I am in Puerto Rico" and this spot is one of them. there are 2 big giant chairs colored in Puerto Rico flags, which is perfect for photography, having Pinones beach and perfect palm trees in the background. this is not a public spot, this is property of Mar-Bella beach club- but they are okay if you go there and click some pics. Some more info about this spot/Place- this spot is on Route 187 between Isla Verde and the Rio Grande. means - if you are planning to Visit Playa Flamenco (which is a Must do- cause it is one of the top beaches in the world) and if you are coming back to San Juan to catch a flight then I would suggest taking this route 187. a couple of reasons for this- 1) Pinones area which is famous for its street/roadside small/decent food joint - you don't wanna miss if you are a foodie 2) Scenic Route 3) You wanna save money on toll skipping Route-66 (no sense paying rental company for its transponder and $10/day)
