I have 2 kids at Playhouse, my eldest has been there for 3 years, and we couldn't be happier. Playhouse is a place that offers a caring approach to the social emotional development of children at the most critical time in their lives. They approach education with the developmental needs of children as its focus, and by fostering a positive relationship to learning through play. It goes without saying that the teachers and staff are extremely caring and nurturing. I don't believe this approach to education can work without the loving commitment these teachers have for the kids and their work. Luckily for me Playhouse has not only fostered the growth of my children, it has for me too. I personally gained and learned so much from the opportunity to spend time in the classroom, be involved on the board, attend workshops and guest speaker talks, and even just talking with Anat and Lisa (the Directors) with their many years of experience and deep commitment to the wellbeing of the children and the community. I've popped up in their office so many times unexpectedly, only to be given their complete attention, and advice after discussing whatever my concern was for as long as I needed to. Playhouse is our second home, and I've become a better parent since joining. read more

Playhouse is an incredible school and an amazing place for kids . We tried three other schools in the area before lucking out and finding Playhouse and both of my daughters have really flourished at playhouse. The teachers are so warm and nurturing that it creates an incredibly warm and loving environment away from home for kids. In particular, the educators at Playhouse do an excellent job of focusing on the social relationships between young children and teaching kids empathy and interpersonal skills at a young age that will create the foundation for the rest of their lives. That focus has really played off and the change in my daughters have been noticeable. They have both developed a new found maturity and they relate so much better to their peers and to each other. Playhouse has also really helped both of my daughters develop confidence and new skills. Finally, the school does an excellent job of fostering a community feeling and we have met some of our closest friends through the school. As a progressive educator, true play-based education is extremely important to me. I set the bar high for the best environment for my child to thrive socially and emotionally, and a place that places kindness and acceptance of all families as a priority. Our two-mom family has felt more than welcome. The classrooms are racially diverse and the teachers work hard to make sure difficult topics aren't taboo, and that what kids are truly interested in is celebrated. The kids are outside every day no matter what. I love it so much that I commute up to 20 minutes each way; and the community is so supportive we've found carpools to help with it. My older daughter just entered kindergarten in the public schools. She was emotionally prepared and ready to absorb in her new learning environment, and has grown from letter recognition to writing full creative stories. I attribute this to really giving her the space make sense of her world rather than expecting her to do worksheets and what the adults "want" her to do in her early years. Sending our daughter to Playhouse is one of the best decisions we've made as parents. We feel grateful everyday that she's part of a community that's so loving, thoughtful, creative, respectful, and warm. The teachers are wonderful, helping the kids to develop a love of learning through playing (outside and inside), cooking and eating new foods, caring for class pets, listening to/playing music, creating so much art, dancing, reading, pretending, and exploring. They help them navigate their relationships and emotions, and they help us parents too, through workshops and just daily chats. We looked at several preschools, and Playhouse is also the only one we found that offered a sliding scale for tuition. They truly live the values they instill in our kids. I could not recommend Playhouse enough. I'm already sad our daughter will only be here two years. read more

Playhouse Nursery School is a rare gem. Equal parts of education, caring and progressive thought makes Playhouse the reason parents return year after year - child after child. There is a wealth of history, intellect and kindness that makes a parent feel like the time their child is there, is time well spent and foundational in supporting these little people into proud, accomplished, caring adults. There is a warm collective of parents that support and honor their fellow Playhouse parents. The teachers and staff are genuine, empathic and show up each day with 100% of themselves ready to inspire young minds to be creative, curious and open to possibilities. We started at Playhouse this fall and couldn't be happier! The teachers are thoughtful and caring, and the students are clearly at the center of all they do. The rooms are full of creativity, light, and animals, and my daughter always comes home with joyful stories from the day. I love their intentional approach to play-based learning, and feel like my daughter is getting everything she needs at this stage in her development. The teachers are easily accessible for conversations, and offer the perfect amount of updates and feedback. Even amidst the pandemic, I can sense the strong community of families. I have to reassure my daughter almost daily that we get to, "come back and do this again tomorrow" because she never wants to leave! read more

I am so glad we found Playhouse! I just can not say emphatically enough how much we love it. Truly, this is the best developmental environment we could have hoped for. Our daughter has found a love of school, a nurturing place to explore those toddler to 'big kid' emotions and a desire to learn by experiencing the world around her. I am amazed by how much she has learned and grown emotionally under their play based philosophy. My son is in his second year at Playhouse, and he has thrived there. The staff are kind, loving, and truly committed to the development of our children. I feel like every adult in the building really knows and understands my son, and that feeling is priceless. I've watched him mature into a robust curiosity about the world around him, as well as develop social and conflict resolution skills that will serve him so well when he makes the transition to, as he puts it, "the big kids' school." We are so happy to be back into the swing of things at Playhouse. We feel COVID safety measures are taken seriously, and well balanced with the emotional needs of the students. Our son has been so happy this year, and his social skills are blossoming! He has so much to tell us at the end of each day, and we are always pleased to hear about the creative ways Playhouse is engaging the kids, whether through nature based art project, songs in sign-language, and lots of outdoor play. My child just started here two months ago, and we love it! First, it is affordable with a sliding scale tuition, thank goodness, and extremely transparent about costs. Most importantly, it is the perfect place for my kiddo as we navigate her post-pandemic return to socializing. This magical school is all about helping kids grow and learn through play. Playhouse has been the gem for our daughter in the past almost three years. It has a feel of a home. Teachers at the preschool are loving, involved, educated, and very positive. Families that choose Playhouse are diverse, well rounded, and very friendly. It is one of the few preschools in the area with extended hours option and flexibility to choose schedule that fits your family.
