We told her that he has always been on the schedule for Tuesdays and Fridays but she was yelling and aurguing and then told us to get out and she will refund our monthly membership. Which she did within minutes. WTF! Not sure what happened here as it is all so random and bizarre. We will finding a new local daycare for our pup.

Staff was instructed that Lightening eats 1 cup four times a day. We brought him with his own food, treats and his bed from home. He was a happy, energetic and most importantly healthy puppy when we left him. I checked up on him throughout the week and was told he was having a great time and eating well. So I was SHOCKED when I picked him up, only to find an emaciated, dehydrated and lethargic Lightning. He had clearly lost a lot of weight and had no puppy pep to even muster a proper hello. I asked for an explanation and told that he only grazed over his food over the week. Furious I demanded to know why I wasn't called or told of the issue the numerous times I called! We sent him with an unopened 15 lb bag of food and we discovered he had only received 1 cup twice a day and had eaten less than half of what was given. Rather than arguing I immediately took Lightning to the emergency veterinary hospital. Lightning lost 9 lbs in a week, was severely dehydrated, had a slight fever, his coat has dry and flakey, visible signs he'd had diarrhea, and no evidence of stool in his bowels. I can assure you I will never board there or likely anywhere ever again and will strongly discourage everyone I know from using The Barking Dog. Not only was my dog grossly neglected but they made no effort to correct or communicate the problem before or after pick up, instead they made endless excuses. The lack of care they gave Lightning is disgusting!

We searched the internet and found Top Dog Pet Sitting Service! This company were not only very responsive, including the owner, but they did an outstanding job in reassuring us that our puppy was in great hands! We started by making an account and profile on Chloe and it was so easy and user friendly! We then chose our time of day we wanted them to come and our preferences of how many times and how long we wanted the pet sitter to stay. When everything was booked, we met Cassandra and Alisha and Chloe loved them RIGHT away! That was something my husband and I really liked, is that the sitters who would be watching her, met her prior to us going away. All of this happened in a span of 2 weeks since our original plans of who would watch Chloe fell through. During the trip, Cassandra and Alisha were AMAZING! We received email updates with pictures after every bedtime visit (we chose 3 visits a day with just one update but you can customize to however you want!). Those pictures and updates are what got us through the week! It was great because the girls not only cleaned up fuzz and animal pieces from her toys, but also helped clean the containers that had her food in them. During that week, Chloe was on a special diet of chicken and rice as well as medicine and a powder probiotic. the girls did WONDERFUL with managing that entire situation. Jessica, the owner was also beyond amazing for getting back to us so quickly when it was the day before we left for our vacation and she had to be put on all of this medicine and special diet. This company was amazing and we will most definitely be using them again in the future and going to be requesting the same 2 girls since Chloe loved them so much! I thought the owner must have the magic touch. I WAS VERY WRONG. On August 20th, I was asked to meet another pet parent. I was in the daycare that early morning, with CJ the owner and a few other dogs including my own. CJ retrieved a drop off mixed breed dog from outside and CJ's attitude and personality completely changed before my eyes. This 70 pound mixed breed, was treated horribly (not going to go into nasty details, as CJ's behavior was totally unacceptable). The dog got yelled at outside, inside and when I confronted CJ, I was told not to get involved by CJ since I didn't see what this dog did the day before. Regardless of what a dog did the day before, the dog has no idea why you are treating him so poorly, the following day. CJ told the dog to sit, in a screaming manner. He then left the room. The dog got up and CJ took a mop and swung it over her head as hard as he could against the wall. The mop didn't touch the dog, it was a scare tactic. CJ was so quick to pick up that mop, you can tell this wasn't his first time using this method of getting a dog to listen to him. I immediately took my 9 month old pup out of that daycare and filed a complaint with Lowell Animal Control and MSPCA. I was told by the investigator, 2 other complaints were filed during an 8 day time frame. If CJ treats a dog so poorly in front of customer, imagine what goes on when the pet parent is not around. Close this place down and take your dogs out of there. Reason for delay in review = I was directed to hold off on posting any review until the investigations were closed.
