She was very broken, but eventually came out of her shell with some love and training. Unfortunately, she was still aggressive towards other members of my household and would not leave my room when I wasn't home. So, I turned to ABC K9 for help. I had a few sessions with the daughter of the company, who was kind and helpful. The mother on the other hand, I had never met before this incident. This woman comes in, yells at me, telling me I need to purchase another dog. I am so confused, as 1. There was already another dog in the home and 2. Who in their right mind buys another dog when they're having issues with the one they have? She spoke to me like I was sh*t on her shoe. I left crying as the daughter apologized to me profusely for her mother's behavior, swearing she had no idea what was going on. I never heard from these people again, not that I made an effort to reach out. My dog is now just short of perfect. She has since then moved into our first home, seen 13 states, hiked mountains and walks miles with me every day, despite being disabled. No thanks to these people.

Together we've went though AKC Star Puppy, Graduate Puppy, Good Manners, and just recently earned his Canine Good Citizen certification! This has been exactly what both of us have needed. I'm excited to continue taking classes here to reinforce the good behavior we've learned. I can't recommend this facility (and the awesome team) enough.

Her owner did not return but luckily for Jayla, the neighbors did and they removed the chain. Jayla then ran away and lived on the streets until she was caught by a rescue organization. When she was brought to the USA, she had 2 previous families that tried to adopt her but her fears were too much for them. She kept running away and was terrified. I read her story and was heart broken, I talked with my husband and we decided we would give her a home. Now I knew up front this was going to require some patience, and most definitely the help of a trainer. The first 2 weeks were awe full she was afraid of everything and everyone. I called many trainers and found that most wanted me to hand her over to them for 2 weeks. Promising I would have a different dog when she returned. This was absolutely not going to happen, as I would NEVER do that! I finally found Gwen, I explained Jayla's situation and told her I would not allow her to "take" Jayla. Thankfully, she did not agree with that process either. Gwen came to our home the first time, walked in the door and laid on the floor. WHY? Because she knew Jayla would be frightened and did not want to scare her. She fed her chicken pieces for a while, which Jayla would not take at first but she did come around. Jumping ahead now, Gwen formatted a training practice that fit Jayla's needs specifically. Giving us tasks to work with her. I would send her videos for some help and call her "a lot"! She was always ready to give guidance and suggestions. Here we are 2 months later, Jayla is happy, running, playing. She even went to visit the neighbors! We can walk the neighborhood with minimal stress on her. She sits, down command and we are working on staying. Gwen explained this will be a very long process but there has been so much improvement just in the short time. If you want a true trainer to work with your dog and train YOU how to be an awesome dog owner, hire Gwen! She will definitely teach you how to interact in a positive productive way with your animal! Promise!!!

Our Training Journey with Advance Canine Developments Mark,…read moreHayley, Erica, and Ali, we wanted to take this time to express our heartfelt thanks for the exceptional service and dedication that all of you provided in training our dogs Mio and Enzo. Your expertise, patience, and dedication put us in a positive direction with both. When Mio came to you, he was grieving with the loss of his brother Tuffy. He was sad, aggressive, and lost. You helped him gain his confidence back and let him find his happiness again with us. We brought an eight-week-old puppy, Enzo to our home about a month after the loss of our 12 year old Shih Tzu Tuffy. The puppy is adorable but has some personality quirks that have challenged us. You gave us the tools and information to help us deal with his severe separation anxiety. It is a journey for both of us. Your approach to training humans is paramount in the success and journey of training dogs. The human part of the training is to set yourself back to "zero". We had to acknowledge that we knew nothing about the training journey we were embarking on. All the dogs and experience before is just what it was ...before! We are learning to use our experience and knowledge to apply to our puppy, Enzo, and our six-year-old Mio who are different dogs with different personalities. We are grateful for the positive impact you've had on both of our dog's behavior and our overall relationship. Mio and Enzo will continue their training journey with us and an occasional refresher back at the training facility at Advanced Canine Development! Regards, Jack and Bridget Pantaleo Punta Gorda, Florida

We can't say enough about Mark and all the great trainers at ACD. My son and I found Mark online…read more I called and spoke with him and setup a consultation. We had looked into a couple trainers, but knew that our Maya needed someone special to help bring out her personality. She was a shy, scared and nervous puppy when she checked into her Board and Train ("Boot Camp" is what we called it). What a difference even just a week made! We were able to visit Maya each weekend at the Gilchrist park/Farmers Market walk. Every time you could tell how much she had changed. Mark even took time with our son Hayden to coach him on how to work with her and his skills of handling her in the show ring. Every day we received videos and photos of our baby girl. If we had questions or concerns the staff was always quick to respond. Our girl stayed an extra week, which she needed, since she's going to be such a big girl (Great Dane). We have recommended ACD to several friends and would definitely recommend you give them a try if you have a dog that needs some help with manners.

When we got them back they went from completely untrained to trained in every way! Door manners, in the car, on the leash, and other basic commands, you name it! They were crazy about food and now they will sit in front of food and wait to eat it when they are told. It's amazing! We then brought them back for a tune up when our son was born. It was awesome knowing they were with people who knew them and loved them. Our dog Charlie ran and jumped in the lake immediately! Happy as can be. A huge shoutout to Derrick! When our son was born 4 weeks early he went out of his way to pick our dogs up when we were stuck at the hospital. He truly loves the dogs and cares about the families. You can tell this is his passion and it shows through his work! Lastly, Anthony has been fantastic to work with throughout too! Due to him and Derrick we will continue bringing our dogs back here when we need boarding knowing they are in the BEST hands.
