On really hot days the playground does get really hot though. The lake is a really nice and has a path around it. It's not huge, but still a nice place for some leisure activity. You can fish at the pond though. Lots of parking too. We will definitely be back to visit this park again.

One side provides closer…read moreaccess to an amphitheater that offers concerts, a historical home, multiple reservable shelterhouses, a playground, and restrooms. A variety of trails lead down into a nice wooded area along a creek to explore. We were able to see a number of small fossils down there. There are multiple access points (some with stairs, some without, as well, depending on your preference), so referring to the map or keeping an eye on the trail markers can be helpful for wayfinding. There is also a mountain biking trail. The other side offers closer proximity to the sports area, which includes pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts. Fun place to visit!

In the "little kid" playground area there are smaller stairs to climb and things to balance on. There are tunnels, a little picnic table at the bottom, and some steering wheels to spin. In the "big kid" playground the climbing is taller and definitely more advanced. The 3 year old had trouble reaching some things, but nonetheless tried! There are two awesome and obscure shaped monkey bars, many spinning seats, and large slides! They also have a great area with various giant musical instruments to play. On the far side of the playground there is a splash pad. It was still on and running today! This park is wide open and had so much space for the kids to run and play. The water is murky, like you would expect, and the sand is really rough and gritty, again like you would expect for a lake, but it's not slimy. The bathrooms are brand new. There is a ton of green space and plenty of room to spread out from other families. There are picnic shelters and grills. Huge parking lot! Even on the busiest summer holidays, I have never struggled to find parking. There is a really nice fenced in dog area, as well as as a dog section of the beach. If it was closer, we would probably be there a lot this summer as it's a great way to cool down.

I remember coming to these amusement parks and being allowed to spend the whole day with friends. This was pre being able to afford kings island. It was like a permanent carnival. I was so sad that it shut down but was so surprised when I saw that they repurposed the land into this beautiful park. Walk around and remember where things used to be. You can check out the lake, see some of the old standing structures of times past, walk the path, or play in the playground. We enjoyed pulling up old photos and trying to lay out the amusement park in all the green space.

The poor experience began at the admission gate with a most rude man who refused to answer questions about the status of the games. After waiting an hour from lightning delays I decided to return to my car to wait the delay out. When I asked for the re-entry band they accused me of sneaking in. Be sure to check out the…read morecentrally-located Visitor's Center to get lots of handy info, trail maps, a visit to the gift shop, and even pet a friendly snake!! I decided to hike the Gorge Trail, which was very do-able, and ambitiously hoped to even follow the trail around the lake. Oooooops... There is NO LAKE, for the moment, anyway, as they've emptied it for maintenance (!!) Wasn't able to hike around the (dry) lake, as I think that trail was closed, but no worries, I headed back on the Gorge Trail (took a zillion pictures along the way, it's GORGEous!!) and made it back just in time to attend the Hispanic Festival taking place right outside the visitor's center. Looks like there's LOTS of community activities offered here, and it's a GREAT area resource!! Beautiful scenery, some waterfalls apparently, once the rain returns, picnic areas and multiple fun playgrounds for the kiddies, nicely marked trails, TONS of community events, and so much more!!
