Just going to start off by saying my experience there was very disappointing. Their winter…read morebasketball league which is sold off as high rec to low competition is far from that. I signed my son up for a kingdom team thinking this would be a good experience. It ended up far from it. To start off with I signed my son up for a fourth grade team and when the roster was put out he was placed onto a fifth/ sixth grade team. Being that it was supposed to be a rec type league I didn't put up a fuss about it. But when the schedule came out all the other teams in the league were select traveling teams. Our team had ten children assigned to it when the roster came out and dropped to five before the season started, actually went to five before practice even started. Speaking of which, the roster was put out on a Thursday with the season starting that Sunday. Also they were sending messages out the same day begging for parents to coach the team. They also do not guarantee practice time for teams that they are sponsoring. We did however manage to get a one and a half hour slot for practice per week. When I contacted them about my son and his friend the same age being placed up from their grade level I was told they didn't have enough of their age to make a team. However I found out they did have a fourth grade team but it had been filled with second and third graders. When the season started one of the parents approached them to ask if they thought it was fair to put these boys against select traveling teams their response was " there aren't any select teams in the league, they are all just teams whose parents put their kids together to make teams keep in mind the teams were named stating they were select teams. It just seems like they are only worried about getting the money and not worried about the mental well being of the children they sign up. When a team gets beat by 50 plus every game it is hard on them and kingdom doesn't seem to care after the check clears if I could give a zero star I would but seems I am forced to at least give it one

Competitiveness is one thing, but humiliating kids are another! No place should cohearse teams into playing in a div that's not up to their standards of play! This place has always been good to me as a coach when I would take my team there, but you have def went a diff direction over these past yrs. Building self-esteem, for kids is the best way to get business, and standing by your original mission sells in itself. #DoBetterForTheKids

This rec center is an absolute beast. As someone who loves to work out at recreation centers and…read morehas been to many throughout her life, this one takes the cake as one of the cleanest, most modern, and largest. It has an indoor fitness pool, an outdoor pool (looks like mostly designed for families with kids), an ice skating rink, a huge weight lifting and cardio machine area, multiple group fitness rooms, and a full-sized basketball court (that they use temporary drapes to turn into multiple courts for pickelball or pick-up basketball). There's probably more I'm missing. I've never actually walked through the entire place. They have a ton of community and fitness programming for the area. From 8 to noon then 4 to 9 most evenings, they have different fitness classes going on. They aren't just your basics either. They have enough TRX bands to support TRX classes or some of their strength-based classes use workout areas they've had installed. They have lots of spinning bikes and classes the support them. I've never actually encountered any machine or part of the fitness center that didn't work. Everything is well-maintained, and I've never even encountered an empty cleaning spray bottle before. The biggest "issue" I've had is when the water tastes a bit off because the red-light says the filter needs to be replaced on the water fountain. Prices aren't cheap, but they aren't expensive either. When a yoga class elsewhere will cost me $40, it's only $11 here at Kettering. If you get one of their multi-class passes or a membership, it's even cheaper on a per-class basis. They have lots of kids camps and kids activities including some homeschooling group play classes and more. I haven't paid much attention to the kid things, but I know they have some! Great spread of bodies and ages here too. You'll mostly see older adults, and it's really refreshing to see a ton of different types of people instead of the college-aged adults. Everyone here is super friendly, and it's clear a lot of the community uses this place as a great place to see and hang out with friends while staying active. Huge parking lot, but if there's a lot going on (like a kid's hockey meet), there have been a few times I've been unable to find a single parking spot in this beast of a parking lot. Bathrooms are clean too.

I feel it allows kids to try something/sport they may want to pursue as a lifelong dream but wouldn't know where to start. Basketball, Running, swimming, pickleball, volleyball, ice skating, ice hockey, and a lot more but I'm sure I've forgot. Just such a great place for the whole family to go. Who else misses when the middle school mascot was a wildcat?

The new playground is AMAZING! It's so big and has a lot of cool features like a zip line, lots of climbing features, different slides, and areas for smaller kids. They have pickleball courts now, which look nice. There are still basketball hoops. The tennis courts are getting redone this year as well. In the summer the amphitheatre has concerts and plays for free. A good amount of parking on none event days, but they have you park across the street on the grass too.

They generally have food trucks and concession stand for those that seek a drink or snack. I have never used the potties but they are available. They also have a nice courts and walking trail. I will say bring a chair, blanket sunscreen and/or cover for sun protection. We usually do about 3-4 concerts here that vary between a Journey, Fleetwood Mac, Queen cover bands and a kids show that tends to be Disney! Yeah! Being a Disney fan I love that they offer this. Parking is abundant and getting out can be a tad bit longer for bigger shows but in general just be patient. You just attended a free show.

Maybe somebody will see this check-in and see where their kids shoes are. Up by main building sitting on curb.
