It quickly became obvious that I was going to need full-time in-home care for her during my absence. That evening, I made a phone call to Visiting Angels of Livermore. They offered to provide a full no-commitment assessment, and I accepted. The next day, Mr. Keith Beck, Executive Director, came to my home and evaluated Mom's situation and needs. Mr. Beck was on-time, professional, organized and efficient. Following the assessment, we were introduced to a recommended caregiver who, assuming my approval, would be responsible for Mom. She was professional, very conversational with Mom and an experienced caregiver. By the end of the appointments, I was confident that Mom would have good, comforting care while I was gone. I was extremely impressed that Visiting Angels responded so quickly, and was also able to provide and dedicate quality staff in a timely manner. I continued the caregiving services on a part-time basis after I returned home as Mom was still not quite stable. Another caregiver was introduced and assigned. After a couple of weeks of continued part-time care, Mom became much better and I was comfortable with stopping the services. I highly recommend Visiting Angels of Livermore. All of my experiences (and my Mom's) were positive. It is a very well managed business with a reliable, kind, and supportive team: owner, office staff, and caregivers. Thanks to Visiting Angels I was able to enjoy my vacation. I will definitely use them again when and if the need arises. If you are considering in-home care for a loved one, Visiting Angels of Livermore is it. An excellent Yelp score....5 Stars all the way!

From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and supported. Emily and Shelby were especially amazing. They were both so kind, patient, and genuinely helpful throughout the whole process. They took the time to answer all of my questions, made sure I felt confident, and really showed how much they care about the animals and the adopters. You can tell the staff truly prioritize the well being of the pets and want to match them with the right homes. Everything was organized, transparent, and efficient. I am so in love with my puppy and SO GREATFUL that I chose to adopt from here!! I highly recommend Valley Humane Society to anyone looking to add a furry family member. VHS goes to local county shelters and saves well-behaved cats and dogs that are about to be euthanized because of overcrowding. They have a medical clinic onsite that does a wellness check, and then their 200+ volunteer army steps in to foster and care for these cats and dogs, while permanent homes can be found. Our tour focused on the cat side of VHS. First we checked out the youngest kittens, which are kept in separate rooms, followed by Kitty City, which houses the remaining cats onsite (the rest are in foster homes). We met all the Catizens of Kitty City, including Mayor Big Bird, who has since been adopted, and several others with interesting personalities and histories, like Donna, Dealership, and Zombie (my favorite!). The animals are lovingly cared for, and the operations at VHS are well-organized (e.g. laundry area, kitchen and break rooms, etc.). Kitty City also includes an outdoor play area for cats, affectionately called "The Catio" !! Thank you, Valley Humane Society, for all that you do for our community.

While we…read morecame to adore her, our experience with the organization was deeply disappointing due to a severe lack of transparency regarding her behavioral needs. Before adopting, we were assured she was "not a biter" and were given no indication of the full extent of her challenges. Once she was in our home, we immediately faced severe reactivity toward other dogs and young children, requiring immense physical strength to manage her on leash. Wanting to give her every chance to succeed, we hired a professional trainer specializing in reactive dogs. Under professional guidance, she made remarkable progress over three weeks. Unfortunately, because she is deaf, she was startled when a maintenance worker entered our apartment multiple times during a repair, ultimately biting him on his final entrance. When we consulted our trainer after the incident, she explained that the dog's working instincts were essentially feral and high-drive. While those instincts are an asset on a farm, keeping her in an urban setting was described as "keeping a gun holstered." Because an animal bite occurred and Animal Control reporting was initiated, we had to make the agonizing decision to return her for everyone's safety. What made an already heartbreaking situation worse was the foster mother's attitude when my husband returned the dog. She was arrogant and dismissive, claiming we had been "warned" about these behaviors--which we unequivocally were not. While the rescue had previously expressed hesitation about placing her in an apartment, they framed it as simply wanting to keep her longer, never disclosing that her underlying behavioral profile made an urban environment unsafe. We felt set up to fail, but the true victim here is the dog. We strongly urge Lucky Dog Rescue to practice full transparency with adopters and to restrict this dog's future placement strictly to a working farm or ranch where she can thrive safely.

Faced with the overwhelming task of putting this level of care together on short notice, Paulina, and Love Life Senior Care, was a godsend. Paulina is knowledgeable, compassionate, and responsive. Within days of making contact, she had met with my mother and me individually and also with members of the medical staff at his assisted living facility. In the short time we had to get care in place, she got to know our family, understand my father's needs, and understand how 24-hour care for my father would impact my mother. Paulina carefully screens potential staff to ensure they are a good fit for both my father's and mother's needs, gives us clear recommendations about potential caregivers, and checks in with us regularly to see how things are going. Since the outset, we have had a consistent team of excellent and kind caregivers. Most importantly, Paulina is hands-on and extremely responsive when there are unexpected schedule changes or more general changing needs. Through everything she has been unfailingly kind and, when asked, has provided sage and appreciated advice. I recommend Paulina and Love Life Senior Care to anyone who wants the absolute best for their senior.

I found a few Pug Rescues in the area - but we ended up seeing that Tiny Paws got a litter of mixed Pugs that were just what we were looking for. I filled out my application, got a quick response to set up an interview. I was told that because there is a puppy list, I may not get one of the puppies we had seen, but they'd keep my approval on file. Well, I guess we got lucky, because we did end up getting 2nd pick out of the litter of 5. They were all cute as can be, and we made our selection. The foster was seriously the BEST - she sent a ton of pictures from birth to current, and then sent me updates every few days with pictures on how our new puppy was doing. I made the almost 4 hour drive, and they were just as cute in person. Puppies were in great health and living conditions, and you can tell they were just SO loved. When we got home, we quickly learned just how much she had already been taught...she knows how to "sit" and "come" and has done very well with potty training so far. We are very happy with our choice to adopt from Tiny Paws, and will likely be back when we decide to grow our family again.
