So when I was looking for a team to join they were at the top of the list. They helped me and my husband buy our 1st home and now its the home our baby will take her 1st steps in, beyond greatful for their help. So I felt really bad when the 1st one star review came from a gentleman that I had been working with for months. Kalob R. and his lovely wife were looking for their dream home, I drove hours looking at properties for them and doing video calls so they could see them in person. I was doing showings in Cleveland TN, there were some new builds on a very steep hill (they had a baby and a safe yard for him to play in was top priority), upon wrapping it up they saw one in Georgia that they liked, I was a good 1.5 hours away but I had a showing assistant that agreed to do a walkthrough for them, our market moves very quickly so he scheduled it and I sent the payment for the assistants services, I knew they liked it a lot and I didn't want them to miss out. Shortly after scheduling I get a message to cancel the showing, I told my assistant who was already on his way that they said not to go. Later I find out that it's because he contacted the listing agent directly to hopefully get a better deal. Now mind you this was before the NAR stuff where we had to have a buyer's rep, before all that we did business on a handshake. Fast foward and they decided to put an offer in directly with the listing agent and leave me out off it, not an issue, I only spent a couple months of helping them get to know the area and narrowing down where they'd like based on the criteria they had, and was only out the time i spent and the gasoline cost for me and my assistant, also we technically were working on a handshake (agents learn from my mistake, this is why we have required buyers representation keeps everyone protected). I considered it a lesson learned the hard way because I allowed myself to be run around and instead of doing things the correct way I trusted that they valued the effort and time I spent looking for that perfect home just because others have. That would have been the end of it till he asked Pete what if that one didn't close, to which Pete answered he'd have to find another realtor to represent them because he wouldn't allow any of his agents to be treated like that on his watch and best of luck. He was very firm with Kalob but from all accounts he did it in a very tame straightforward manner because there was a group of kids in the car during the call. Kalob and his wife seem to be enjoying their new home as I see his wife post updates, we remained fb friends, she really was a sweetheart through the whole thing, and I'm glad they found a great home for their family thats the important thing in the end. There are 2 sides to every story and I know Pete won't tell his, so here's a bit of context for those that care.
