Luckily the Savoy was nearby and reasonably priced (and had availability). The lobby looks renovated, all clean and marble-y. There isn't a doorman or automatic doors, which was slightly annoying to me since I was traveling heavy. Ashleigh at reception was really nice and helpful. The room was nice (room 811, photos below) - I had a single queen room and I found it to be perfect. The bathroom was pretty sexy and the view was great - you can see Southern Cross Station out the window! I opted for the pre-paid breakfast - note that you book it in advance, but then pay for it later. They had a wonderful spread of hot breakfast and also yogurts, pastries and fruits. I couldn't try everything. The only thing I didn't care for was the carpets in the hallways - it's plush which is nice, but it was really hard to wheel my suitcases to my room. So I took them one at a time. Would stay here again and would recommend.

They also don't offer free wifi in the room except for a free 30 minutes in the lobby. This place was decent if you're only there to sleep and shower.

This is by far my favorite spot to stay when visiting Melbourne. Plus, Mr. Walker is here. A hotel with its own canine mascot really cannot be beat, can it? His name is Mr Walker and he is so welcoming. I have to confess, I am not a huge dog person but Mr Walker won me over. Not only is he friendly, you can go with him on his morning walks! We were able to join one morning and it was actually a nice change of pace from the go-go sightseeing schedule. On our walk, Mr Walker's caretaker was also kind enough to stop and explain some of the local history, so that was an added bonus! The rooms are well kept and spacious. The bed was comfortable. And I enjoyed watching the telly while enjoying a relaxing bath. The service was also excellent. From the staff at the front desk to the those working at the restaurants. Room service was delivered in a timely manner and the food were still hot upon arrival! The location is conveniently located in catching the free tram for the CBD. Definitely make this your hotel the next time you are in Melbourne!

The last time I went there (and I probably should go more often because it has such a relaxed, laid back atmosphere) they even gave me a free cocktail, most likely because they were celebrating their fifteenth birthday. It usually includes scrambled eggs, chicken sausages, bacon, mini hash browns or potatoes, cut up fruit (watermelon, honey dew, and cantaloupe). There's also orange juice and a coffee machine. Overall, I was happy with my stay at the Rendezvous Hotel. The only real problem was that only one of the elevators were working, making it difficult to go up and down. I eventually figured out where to find the stairs.

There's a privacy screen that can be lowered via scroll button on the wall next to the light switch for the more modest folks. The location on Little Collins Road is not a main road so it's quieter. There's a free circle tram (the route is literally in a circle) for everyone that's a 1/2 block away. To put the lights on, you slide your room key into a control panel (similar to most hotels in Asia). The hotel buffet has many healthy breakfast options including fresh fruit & yogurt in addition to poached eggs, scrambled eggs & omelette to order. Don't forget to become a SPG member (it's free)for discounts including breakfast buffet. The bakery on the street level, Crux & Co. is wonderful (separate review for that).

A great feature of this hotel is that if you download the Hilton Honors app, you can use your phone as your hotel key! So I used my phone to open the elevators, front door (after hours), and my hotel room. I loved knowing that I would never lose / forget my hotel key since it was on my phone. The room was modern, clean and a standard size. There was a mini fridge and a little coffee/tea station. I also really appreciated the alarm clock on the bedside that had USB / USB-C slots for easy charining without a converter. I loved the location because of how walkable it was to everything in the CBD. I will say that late at night, I probably wouldn't walk around by myself. The staff was very friendly and helpful (don't forget to ask for a complimentary cookie!)

The restaurant has an excellent breakfast buffet and the dinner special and regular menu are very good too. But the best thing about the hotel is its location. It's across the street from the train station and the free tram picks up right out front. But it's also close enough to walk to almost every attraction, if you're willing to walk some. Restaurants and entertainment are all close by, as well as shopping venues in every direction. It's a small hotel, so you don't feel like you're overwhelmed by the size, like you are when in a large convention hotel. I highly recommend the Doubletree.

We walked to dinner a few times and were able to get places quickly. The lobby is massive and was quite popular in the evenings, with a very nice bar and options for high teas during the day! All in all, a great property and one we were very impressed with!

Everyone greets you and ensures your stay begins on a positive note. They have a huge lobby with a lot of seating, usually decorated, the decor is lovely, and they have a water bottle filling station. The restaurant is connected to the right side and while I have never eaten here, I have heard good things. I've stayed in rooms on different floors but have always had a nice view of the Yarra river, even on the lower rooms that have the bottom view partially blocked from the roof of the mall. The sun rise does make the room hot but the electronic shade helps a lot! The evening views are beautiful and you can see the fire show from a few blocks down. The rooms are nice and spacious and has a lot of amenities like a mini bar, big tv, French press, desk, couch, toiletries, and bath robes. It's always been very clean at each of my stays. The bathroom is gorgeous! I love the tub with the complimentary bath salts and the open shower next to it. The toilet has a separate door for more privacy if you are staying with another person, and there's a night light in there for convenience. The location is great! The DF mall is connected and only a few steps out the front of the hotel. There's a convenience store and ATM just to the right when you walk out, which is so helpful! The convention center is right across the street, along with the huge parking structure that the hotel will discount for you if you rent a car. Along the river, there are tons of restaurants and bars (only 1-2 min walk from the hotel). Everything is so convenient! You can walk down to the casino to catch the tram if you're going further. Lovely hotel and staff. I highly recommend staying here. This is the only place I would stay at when in Melbourne.
