This place was incredible. Delicious coffee, probably the best coffee I had during my trip to Amsterdam, and great options for breakfast. I had the avocado toast with eggs and my friends at the burrata toast which was delicious. They had ginger tea which was all fresh shaved ginger and such a treat. They also had freshly baked cinnamon rolls coming out of the oven when we walked in. It started to fill up right at 9 so get there when they open and add it to your list. The adorable little cafe with lots of mugs, ceramics, books, etc for sale drew me in immediately because I am a sucker for a cute space. If you are planning to eat in, go claim your seat first and then walk back down to order. I am not sure why this is the process, but they enforce it. Even if you have already waited in line and got to the counter to order. A little weird but whatever. The good: My salmon toast was super tasty. Came with cream cheese, cucumber, sprouts, and radishes and was plated so picture perfect. The space!! They have an upstairs with lots of seating and a couple tables outside. Perfect for a solo gal like myself, date or group lunch. aMy matcha latte needed quite a bit of honey but hey, that's matcha for ya. They'll bring you your food after you order and sit, and then you'll clean your plate from the table. After waiting 25 minutes for our food, I went down the stairs and asked if our food would be ready soon, his reply was don't be angry and your food will be ready when it is ready. Loved this cute spot for coffee and food! I stopped in for a coffee and to read my book and it was very cute and pleasant. My latte was delicious and came with a piece of chocolate. Walked in to open doors at 9:03 (restaurant opens at 9) said that they weren't open yet, we walked 2 feet and saw ppl entering and sitting down. So we walked back to sit down. We had to wait 10 minutes to order. The food was relatively bland and the portion sizes were very small compared to the price. Not worth an avacado sandwich for 14 euros. Was not informed that this café operated via a self-service system so my friends and I were not aware that our names would be called so that we could collect our own drinks (iced coffee) and take them to the dining area upstairs. However, we noticed that at the table next to us, their drinks were served to them, so I am not entirely sure if it is truly a 'self-service system'... We had assumed they had forgotten about our drinks so we asked about the drinks. The server pointed to the drinks that had been sitting on the counter for a while and all the ice had melted making the drinks very diluted and unpleasant to drink. We politely explained that we did not realise it was a self-service system as we were NOT INFORMED about this. We asked if they could remake the drinks but the server refused which was very unhelpful, considering we were not informed that we had to collect our drinks. We had also already paid for the food and drinks therefore, to refuse to remake the drinks was completely unacceptable! I understand the café can get very busy, however, to refuse to remake a customer's drink which has been sitting out for a while, due to a mistake on their part is poor customer service. We took the drinks in the end but they tasted very watery and just awful. Please ensure to remind your staff to explain to their customers the service the café operates under since, the food was well presented and lovely to eat, but that really did ruin the experience. One of the most instagrammable places I've ever seen. The bottom is where you order and can shop for cute little kitchen accessories. The display case has a cupcake and dessert spread, while the big pull is the smoothie bowls. We came in the afternoon, ordered the unicorn smoothie, the dragon fruit one, and the mixture one. They were delicious and tasted fresh and unique. They were beautifully made. However, if you don't want to eat some of the fruit that is included in the smoothie you may be out of luck as they are pre blended. read more

One of the prettiest bakeries I've ever seen. Everything was pretty and colorful and fresh and smelled delicious! We wanted to sit inside and enjoy our Dutch Apple pie, but it was REALLY busy. At first we were disappointed, but we took the pie to go. We literally ate it outside on the curb. It was the most amazing pie I have ever eaten! I liked the free-for-all seating at the Reeatraat location, we quickly found a spot and other folks claimed free spaces swiftly as well at noon. My iced coffee was good white chocolate flavor. Me and my friend both ordered the eggs Norweigan and it came quickly and beautifully. Both were loaded with smoked fish and the hollandaise sauce was delicious and the eggs good and runny. My friend's pastry was alright, overall pretty good but not a lot of wow. I'd probably return for one of their power bowls next time. read more

I went to pluk because a dear friend of mine recommended it. Let's just say it isn't my cup of tea. I'll start with what I love and end with what I regret. The eye catching displays are amazing. The food presentation is to die for but, unfortunately, at times what looks good doesn't taste good at all. I loved the cinnamon and ginger shot the most. The pluk Smoothie was very good as well. Let's just say that the beverages are their forte. Now on to the Muffin, it was gargantuan and looked marvelous. The blueberries are gigantic and tasty. The Muffin was overall good, until you bite into the frosting... It is colored butter it felt as though I got a diabitis overdose... My hips felt the frosting rush and it was instant pleasurable regret... Needless to say, a few more bites and I was no longer able to eat the Muffin. The least favorite item was the vegan cheesecake... Loved the pecan crunchy bottom but that was it... The coconut overpowered every other taste... The blueberry simply colored everything but was nonresidential as far as flavor is concerned... First and last attempt at a vegan sweet for me... The staff took forever to flag down to order (at the counter). I had to walk up a steep flight of stairs with the items, had to clear the table once I was done and had a hard time flagging down the staff to get a to-go bag for the rest of the Muffin... This review is for their chocolate bars. I popped in here when I was doing some last minute souvenir shopping in Amsterdam. The shop is super cute and offers everything from coffee to brunch and even stationary! I only tried three of their chocolate bars but I liked them all! The chocolate was rich and very high quality, especially the coffee bar. The coffee bar is comprised of 20% expresso beans and 80% dark chocolate. If you're into chocolate like I am, you'll know how hard it is to make good very dark chocolate. The chocolate was so dark and slightly bitter (in a good way) and so SMOOTH. I was blown away by how good it was. Pluk has some of the best chocolate that I purchase on my trip and I seriously regret not buying more. Also the packaging is adorable! read more

I went to Pluk twice while I was in Amsterdam and I have to say I feel like the quality went down between October 2018 and April 2019. I only say this because I ordered the same exact thing except with a different drink and a different dessert and I feel like I enjoyed this place better the first time around. The idea is to order before you sit. I've gotten the avocado toast with chicken on top and that one was pretty good the first time I had it and the second time I felt like it had been sitting for awhile. Don't get me wrong this place is super cute and you'll be tempted to buy a souvenir or two on the way out. I did however have better tasting meals other than this one in Amsterdam. read more

In terms of overall flavor, however, our array of dishes were pretty average. Eggs Florentine was light and flavorful, but the pancakes were run-of-the-mill and the overnight oats were a mistake personally because they were too bland for my sweet-tooth. We waited about 25 minutes for the food, but taking into account their attention to presentation and the crowd at Pluk, I can't necessarily bash them for it. Pluk is delicate and beautiful. It's a romantic café, that also sells design home items like colorful bowls and candles. The counter is full of sweet treats, fresh berries, ginger shots and flowers. We found a small table on the terrace upstairs, so that we could have the full view of the café and the street outside. The salad I ordered was not that interesting, in fact a little boring. My friends club sandwich was very nice though, and so was the carrot cake we shared. We sat just above the oven downstairs, and it smelled quiet burned at several times. We went to Pluk based on Poppy Deyes' recommendation on her blog. And although I went in with a lot of expectations, it did not disappoint. There was a bit of a line when we came in so had to wait for around 10 minutes. Small space, so we stood right in front of the kitchen but it was kinda cool to watch them cook :) staff was not the friendliest haha! A bit cold and crude but tbh I don't really care. We ordered the eggs norwegian and I had the homemade iced latte with an extra shot of hazelnut. Eggs norwegian was a nice dish! I almost never write an negative review. Positives: The decor is lovely. Beautiful items for sale for reasonable prices. I had the Pluk breakfast and the eggs Benedict was tasty. Negatives: The service. The girl waiting on us really didn't care how we felt. My friend's order was not put in to the cooks, so she did not get her food when I did. We chalked that up to miscommunication. BUT it was another 30-45 mins before they brought her food. That's after she went back downstairs to clear it up. Regarding our server: I have never seen someone say "sorry" and really mean "sorry not sorry" so clearly. Also, why do you have to basically wait on yourself? Carry your own drinks upstairs, clear your own table, if they let us cook it too maybe my friend would have been able to eat in less than 2 hours. read more

Lovely spot to enjoy with your friends. They have the all organic, healthy food going on so it's trending and good for your health. The place is really careful designed and everywhere you turn your eyes you get to see lovely details. They also sell candles, tea pots and other cute stuff for home/kitchen/gift. Great new spot on Ree Straat in the Jordaan neighbourhood. They have fantastic coffee and a really lovely vibe inside. The staff are very friendly but a little unorganised (they've just opened!) We had the chicken and avocado sandwiches which were delicious. The layout is very fresh and clean with lots of choice on the menu - really health focused. I wanted to like to place as it looked so good! Unfortunately, the service is half self-service half not. You wait so long for your coffee, they forget to do half of your order. The food is not bad but it's not good as well and not worth the price. The coffee with coconut milk was delicious but that was it.... All of the juices and smoothies for the smoothie bowls are prepared in advance so everything should be really fast. But it's not! The waitresses kept talking and laughing to each other instead of working... My boyfriend got his smoothie bowls (I repeat that the smoothie is already ready so they just have to put toppings on it) when we were all done eating so that's really not nice for him. Plus, you have no space to seat. It's like they filled every space upstairs with tables and chairs to have as much customers as possible but you feel like in a cage. Last but not least, the waitress was holding some pancakes with maple syrup and she threw half of the maple syrup on the floor and on some customers stuff (there's no space to pass through the tables so it doesn't surprise me). First, she served the pancakes to customers anyway (I was shocked) and then, she didn't clean the maple syrup on the floor nor on the other customers coats. She just acted like nothing happened. Such a cute cafe in a picturesque area! Brunch was the one thing I was looking forward to the most in Amsterdam so I was very excited to come here after seeing their Instagram and website. The store is just as cute as the pictures and the seating area overlooks the cute shop. My friends and I ordered a curried coconut chicken sandwich, avocado toast with poached eggs, and acai bowl. The curried chicken sandwich was my favorite thing on the menu and was super flavorful! I also loved my avocado toast with poached eggs which was presented beautifully. I also ordered one of their signature teas which tasted great. We had so much fun chatting and lounging in the cafe before we shopped. They have so many bits and baubles for your home including mugs, notebooks, and phone. My friend picked up an adorable notebook that said "let's avocuddle" and I picked up a really cute postcard. I wasn't sure what the process was for ordering breakfast and I saw different sets of women go up and ask the girl at the register and she answered them but I couldn't hear what she said so I also asked her and the girl snapped at my and told me to wait my turn. I don't want to assume that I was the only person of color in this whole place was an impact but I wasn't sure what to do. Good spot for brunch on the nine streets of Amsterdam. It gets really crowded so make sure that you're either early or very late. They have free wifi and also sell some interesting stuff out front to make your wait for a table lively. The concept is simple - order downstairs, pick up the drinks yourself, while the slow to cook warm stuff is brought upstairs to you. The staff works really hard to make sure that you get your food in time. The upstairs seating area is a bit cramped but that's expected so differing the location and the popularity. The menu is vegetarian and vegan friendly. Also wonderful for sugar addicts! The coffee was good, and I also had a slice of banana bread with walnuts on top, and a slice of the carrot cake. Both were delicious! We also tried the zucchini soup. Also amazing, especially the toasted bread that came with it. It had a soft layer of pesto making it doubly awesome. Great looking spot. But how slow can you be for food. Simple chicken and avocado sandwich. 30min later nothing yet. And they are 3 people in the kitchen. Come get a coffee or something cold but stay away if you want a warm meal. 2 stars for the interior, minus 3 stars for the bad service. Would have loved to come back but it will be a one time thing.
