100/10 recommend a stop here with your littles if you're in Door County! You can tell a lot of love and care goes into their operation here. I love that they emphasize this is not a petting farm; there is a lot of pride taken in giving these animals a dignified and happy life. We purchased a feed bucket with grain and carrots and fed the donkeys/horse and goats which our toddlers loved. We then headed over to the play area where they have oodles of imaginative play spaces setup with a little village that included a restaurant/vet/town store and then there's a barn and little house with tons of stuff inside of them for the kids to enjoy. There's also little tractors and tricycles for the kids to ride, push mowers, rocking horses. Tons of spots for adults to sit while the kids play (in shade too). They also have a very cute out house with a nice potty AND changing table with a real sink which is such a nice touch for families. Staff was fantastic and the price is so reasonable for all you get. We visited Plum Loco over Labor Day Weekend, and our 1.5 year old had a ball! The animals were friendly and looked well taken care of and the staff was friendly and enthusiastic. When you buy the animal feed they tell you to go straight to the animals otherwise you'll get stuck in the play town forever. That was great advice as after we were done feeding the animals our kiddo was in heaven checking out the mini diner, grocery store, vet and more, riding on the child sized tractors and generally just having a ball. It was a great time, the perfect place to Brinn a picnic lunch & enjoy as the kids play. We will be back for sure! read more

it is amazing! the animals are so loving and kind to the visitors. the owners jeremie and lInda are such remarkable and generous people to commit their lives to the betterment and care of the beautiful menagerie of animals on the farm. there is so much to do for the entire family! you could spend the whole day enjoying this marvelous farm. and dont forget to say hi to my favorite guy - the long haired tall white donkey with the japanese name of ohta. hes the best especially when he smiles at you! an all around spectacular way to spend the day alone or with a large family. you'll come back again and again. its a beautiful experience. read more

You can feel good about visiting here because it is an animal sanctuary. All animals here are happy and being taken care of. Admission cost is similar to other places in the area. Food to feed is higher but you get a decent amount of carrots and pellet feed to feed the animals. Cost is $4 per bucket which I am glad to pay because of course the goal is to feed most of the animals. There are mini horses, donkeys, horses, goats, to feed. The only animals you cannot feed are the pigs and the geese. There is a lovely play area of these little forts and there are additional art activities you can purchase for your children. read more

i saw signs for this place on our journey around door county. it's an animal sanctuary rather than a petting zoo. definitely worth a stop if you've got kiddos and family to entertain. you can pack your own lunch and do a picnic here! i thought prices for feed were very fair, and i love supporting small businesses. you can get a bucket for a handful of carrots and grain for like $5 (or less, can't remember!) people were very friendly. it's just the two of them it sounds like, running the whole place. it's full of love and you can tell. would love to go back. read more

Came here with four adults and really enjoyed our time visiting with the animals! We were very pleased that our dollars were going to support a sanctuary rather than the other local animal farm that churns out baby animals just so kids can take pictures with them. The animals were very sweet and made us laugh when they stomped and kicked at the fences, demanding grain and carrots I love the value they put on these animals' lives and the lessons they are teaching our youngest and oldest generations alike. read more

Awesome place for kids and fun for animal-loving adults too. You can purchase feed for the animals, which we did, and had a great time. The kid village was a big hit, very detailed with lots of toys and accents to make the pretend play really great. Our daughter, who is 6, spent a good amount of time there. We generally avoid animal attractions because so many are exploitative and not great for the animals, but Plum Loco is different. The animals have space, respect, care, and a home for life. We wrapped up our week of Door County adventures with a trip to Plum Loco petting farm. With two small children and one on the way, our family vacations tend to be very child-centric. After visiting many other kid-friendly fun spots, this was another fun experience to add to the books. There are lots of animal farms and fun parks around, and this one was definitely the best for very small kids. Little ones have an opportunity to feed goats, horses, donkeys, and sheep. Parents and children are given very specific instructions on how to pet and feed each of the animals before entering. While the introductory spiel was helpful, I think some signage around the farm to remind parents of said rules would be helpful. Outside of the animal area, there was a small play farm town for kids to play with peddle tractors, rocking horses, tools, and plush animals. There is even a small play stable complete with rideable plush horses, saddles, and cowboy hats. Our kids absolutely loved exploring and role playing in the different little town shops and barns. The biggest downside was the size of the farm. There were not as many animals or as much space for said animals as we've seen at similar petting farms. There was also only one public restroom for all the visitors. Worse, the bathroom only had cold running water, so getting a thorough hand washing in after getting covered with goat grain and slobber was a real challenge. Additional restrooms and hand washing stations would really improve the experience. The prices were on par with other local farms. It was less than $30 for our family of 4. It is was a good learning experience for our city dwelling boys and we left with a lot of fun memories!. read more

As my usual wildlife consists of rats and pigeons, I thought $8 seemed fair to interact with something that wasn't trying to drag a slice of pizza twice the size of itself down train station steps. Since my fiance and I had no kids with us today, our first bucket of feed was free. We listened to the safety instructions before setting off towards the Animal Acres. Besides children needing to be supervised at all times, the basics are feed from the bottom, pet from the top so the animal knows what to expect, feed grain with a flat hand to minimize chances of accidental nipping, and hold carrots at the bottom and let go when the animal bites it! Definitely a fun place for the little ones, we saw pumpkin painting, play homes/stores/barn, etc. We did take advantage of the big backyard Connect 4, and they also have yard checkers, chess, ladderball, and a cornhole set, so there's definitely things adults can entertain themselves with as well. We got to feed some goats, sheep, donkeys, ponies, and horses. They also have a couple of geese you can't feed due to their special diet, and we spotted some chickens roaming behind the fence for the private area. They had a pig barn, but I didn't see any pigs that day. We enjoyed spending 45 minutes or so here to feed and pet some farm animals. read more

If you've grown up in a rural community, there's probably not much here for you. My two young boys who have rare contact with animals, though, love this place. The staff is friendly, and I don't feel like the price is too high for an hour diversion that's also a unique experience on the peninsula. read more

Our family visit to this amazing venue was way beyond what we expected. We expected simply a place to pet some farm animals. Instead we experienced a working farm where the owners rescue abandoned and donated farm animals. The love,care and devotion for and to these animals shines through. My family and I highly recommend you put this attraction on your list of "things to see" when visiting Door County with children of all ages. I hate writing negative reviews but unfortunately I guess this will be one. This place is just a small farm where you pay to get a very small amount of food and feed livestock over fences. When we saw what this place offered we really wanted to turn around in get back in the car and leave but with two children in tow that wasn't going to happen. I grew up in a farming community and a former horse owner so I am very familiar with the cost of feed and the paltry amount of grain and carrots that were sold to use as well as the admission price was way over priced for what it was. After leaving this place the next we visited The Farm in Sturgeon Bay. Wow! what a contrast. I am going to write a review next for that location. read more

We were just there with our family and loved it! The staff is so kind, knowledgeable and truly care for the animals at the sanctuary. The animals are well cared for and very friendly while feeding carrots or feed. The little village for the kids to play in is so cute and fun! We did the $3.00 paint a little horse and our son loved it. He's four and loved it so much he asked if we could come back tomorrow. This is a must visit! We are so happy to have stumbled upon this quant little place. My 13 year old and 4 year old both loved its charm. The play area had adorable little shops for pretend play and really well-made games. Plum Loco Animal Farm is a remarkable animal sanctuary located in Door County (location is great, you can make a weeks vacay in this area.) Plum Loco might not be for everyone, but it's definitely necessary for the environment, basic conservation, and overall human/animal health. The large space provided for animal roaming can also be used to get in a few extra steps in yourself ;) It is also in a State where animals and land are often exploited and/or mishandled for human benefit - it felt good stepping into a place where animals are truly loved and handled with care. Also, the staff is beyond kind and gentle. I would suggest keeping Plum Loco open and going, potentially expanding, creating educational events - such as "Meet a Farm Vet"...things like that to really engage and connect visitors WITH "domesticated" animals. Plum Loco is simply a slice of heaven and has so much potential, it was a blessing to be able to visit. Sending love, always. read more

My daughter who is 15 months had a blast feeding the goats, sheep, and horses. They give you a pail with carrots and grains to feed the various animals, which my daughter loved. I did "The Farm" a few times before. It was okay. Typical petting farm...nothing special. However, the concierge at our place highly recommended this place over "The Farm" and we took her up on it. Man, this place was awesome. First off, the owners are very cool and they are truly genuine animal stewards who raise these animals with the utmost care and gentle hands. Not something I expected, but since I always felt bad for animals at petting zoos, this place relieved that stress with nurturing I never saw on a farm. It's $7 for adults, kids free under 2 and not sure of the other prices, but for $2.50 they give you a bucket of grain to feed Nubian Goats, Pygmy Goats and pigs and carrots to feed the ponies and horses. The kids love feeding the horses the carrots and the sound of the donkeys as well. Not to mention when you walk in they have a HUGE area for the kids to play in hand-crafted toy houses with all this small farm equipment stuff. Basically, you can let you kid roam around for a while as you take a break in the shade on the Adirondack chairs (it's all fenced it...kids cannot escape). Animals are in pens, so you can feed them through an opening and not have to worry about them tipping kids over (like at The Farm). I highly recommend this place for parents and kids. This place is fabulous. I have literally never seen my 18-month-old twins this happy. The location is lovely, with weeping willows and wild flowers aplenty. There is a nice variety of petting animals, who are social and well-cared for. The owner is friendly, and the young staff enthusiastic and knowledgable. They have clean bathroom facilities, complete with a changing table. But the best part, at least for my kids, is the mini play farm. It is comprised of a fenced-in area with a tidy lawn, neat little mini farm buildings, and toys galore. Seriously, a terrific way to run your toddlers or pre-schoolers for an afternoon. read more
