During a prolonged frigid period, the furnace in our summer home failed resulting in frozen pipes throughout the house....even the water in the toilets was frozen. As we were out of state, the idea of dealing with the situation seemed daunting. Plumbfast was among the several plumbing companies for which the HVAC folks gave us phone numbers. Owner Chris Autry returned our call that evening, apologizing for not doing sooner, but explaining that he had several other homes with the same situation as ours. (Note: He was the only one to respond to our messages.) He explained that he would not be able to get to our home until the following week, as the other homes with plumbing issues were occupied, and given that ours was not and that no further damage was likely, it was less of a priority. We concurred completely with his view of the situation, especially given that the repairs to the furnace could not be accomplished and the heat to the house restored (thereby thawing things out) until the parts were received, also estimated to be the beginning of the following week. Stood up by an insurance adjuster, then stymied by snow and ice that made the road up to our house impassable, repairs were finally initiated a week later. Not only did Plumfast fix the damage caused by the freeze, but the updated and improved the antiquated filtration system (original to the 30 year old home) and corrected some sub-standard work performed by former owners. Upon completing the work, the affected area thoroughly cleaned up with no evidence of residue or debris. Throughout, Chris kept us updated on what was or was not happening via phone calls and text messages. He coordinated actions with the HVAC people and the insurance adjuster (who finally showed up a week later). When we were finally able to come up to inspect the repairs, Chris met with us to show us the work they had done and explain the changes and upgrades made. And best of all, the invoice he presented was well below what we had feared when we first learned of the situation. We called this company a week ago and we were told that they would be here " ASAP ". We are still waiting . What a deplorable way to treat customers. How do You stay in business when this is how ... You operate? Then, after making us wait that long ... , one of the people who works there and is part of the ownership of the company ... tells me that they are understaffed. One of his other workers said he would come over and help us, but I guess he got lost, or something, cause he never came over either. I contacted this company after hours. They arrived within 20 minutes. The gentleman that arrived was very courteous and professional. In addition to repairing the problem, he cleaned the mess the issue had caused. I was very impressed with his genuine sincerity to resolve the problem.
