The ATM machine is conveniently placed here because this location is in the Harlem and Irving Plaza mall. Yesterday, I had to come here to fix something on my account and the banker who helped me was personable and helpful. Everything was fixed, he gave me my new debit card, and he without me even asking, he put a travel flag on both my credit and debit cards because I mentioned that I was leaving for vacation in a week. So, now I will not have to worry about my card being locked or flagged when I am out of the state. I wish I remembered his name, but he was a young Latino man. It was also very cute that when I was waiting for the banker to be done with his customer before me, one of the tellers walked up to me and asked if I wanted any coffee or to let her know what I needed because she could maybe help me. Although she couldn't help me and she said I'd have to wait for him to be done with the other customer, it was nice that she asked and made me feel welcome and cared for.

Previously I had been dealing with Chase, and there were many…read morethings about my mortgage experience with Chase that frustrated me, or made me uncomfortable or pressured. Everyone I dealt with at Liberty was very helpful, courteous, responsive, and I never felt pressured. Plus, their rates were incredibly low. The ability to upload and receive documents online was great, and the website they use for mortgages was very easy to use (much better than my experience with Chase whose electronic document system was a pain and required more in-person and physical paper). There was a grant I wanted to get, and I know Sylvia, Dagmar, and Maddie had to do a lot of extra work to accommodate this. I am self employed, which also complicates things, but this team was very easy going about this fact. The seller was particularly difficult to work with for this sale, but the team at Liberty were good about following up with the seller's attorney and worked with my attorney to get the closing done on time. I also dealt with Sera at the Liberty Insurance subsidiary to insure my condo, and opened a checking account at the Lincolnwood branch. Everyone I dealt with for these services were wonderful as well, and everyone went out of their way to work with my needs. I suppose my only criticism is that the retail banking side lacks some of the options and services compared to the big national banks. So I am not dumping my Chase accounts yet. But the personal service at Liberty is second to none. I will definitely be using them for any future home purchases, and will use their retail banking for some of the niches that fit my needs.

The point it, while in California it's impossible to try to deposit funds into a bank that's over 2,000 miles away so one of the bankers sent me a ton of bank by mail envelopes so I'd never have to drag myself to a currency exchange and get some of my precious money taken away from me as convenience fees. What's more exciting is when I walked into a branch location today, the customer service agent took an old ATM card of mine, readjusted my PIN number, told me about a new checking account I'm eligible for now and sent me more bank by mail envelopes. Well Chase Bank, WaMu may be holding onto their ankles, but I'm certainly happy with you!
