I don't usually leave reviews, but this experience really didn't sit right with me…read more My mom and I recently visited this restaurant, and unfortunately the customer service was very disappointing. Our waiter was inattentive and overall didn't provide a good experience. Despite that, my mom still chose to leave a respectful and honest review, simply expressing her concerns in hopes that things would improve. What's even more upsetting is that when she returned to give the restaurant another chance, she was told by staff that they could not serve her because of the review she left. Mind you, this is someone who has supported this business for years. It's disheartening to see a loyal customer be turned away for providing honest feedback. Reviews are meant to help businesses grow, not punish customers for speaking up. I really hope management takes a step back and reevaluates how they handle feedback and treat long-time customers.

Date of visit: July 30, 2025…read more Now where was I, I just left Rehoboth Beach this morning after a nights stay. Today I took RT9 north along the coast, Delaware river. All I could think about was a foot-long from the Dog House. After a great cruise and a stop at the museum at Dover Air force base I made it to New Castle. Making the merge onto RT13 I could the sign ahead of me. Parking can be tough but there was spot out front. I did notice the sign has changed, again. My father had been taking me here since 1969. It was our place to go on our Saturday trips from Jersey since it is a sales tax free state. After walking in I couldn't help notice how the inside had changed (last time here was 2021). If you think it has a nostalgic feel now, you have seen it in the '80s and '90s. They have taken down all the hand painted signage and replaced the menu board with a modern one, dang. I just hope they don't plan on franchising the place. I managed to grab a seat at the counter and in no time I was placing my order. All in all, the food is still done the same. Dogs split and grilled on the flat top and the fries are great with their own signature seasoning. If you are in the area and wanting a great foot-long or even a burger please stop in, you won't be disappointed. Peace.

It's a small place, and the music can be a little loud, so best for a smaller, intimate group of diners. Cocktails were solid --- my friend ordered the Winter White Cosmo (which uses white cranberry juice), which was delicious, and I chose the Lady in Red, a vodka drink featuring hibiscus and elderflower which was yummy as well. We started with the cornbread and the brussels sprouts. The cornbread was good, though the texture was more dense and less crumbly than I expected... and though it's pitched as "sweet and spicy," the emphasis is more on "sweet." The brussels sprouts with fig-balsamic glaze and parmesan were delicious, though! My friend ordered the gumbo, which she enjoyed but noted it was quite spicy! I chose the salmon, which is cooked en papillote with a banana leaf and served with a salad of arugula, bell peppers, mango, and papaya on top. The salmon texture was perfect, and it was a delicious, lighter option for dinner. Overall, the food didn't blow my mind, but it's such a fun and welcoming atmosphere that I would definitely go back.

As someone…read morewith an egg intolerance, I wasn't able to find any vegetarian options that could be made without eggs. The staff was willing to make a vegetable wrap, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the wrap itself was very soggy and difficult to eat as a wrap, so I ended up eating the filling more like a salad. The vegetables also didn't seem particularly fresh, which made it disappointing overall. I know dietary restrictions can be challenging for restaurants to accommodate, and I appreciate the effort to create an alternative option. However, the final dish just didn't come together for me. The fries were also cold.

We came for breakfast and were seated quickly and had a very attentive and helpful server. Thank goodness we had already decided on having breakfast because the menu was impressively extensive! We got the Hungry man special with a rambled eggs and French toast and the Country fried Steak with gravy & eggs with a side of Rye toast. The portions are larger than we expected for the prices and solid belly fillers. Both of our meals came with Home Fries but they are closer to hash browns (which was our preference). Clean, tasty and great service all around, a solid spot added to our local breakfast list!
