Quintessential Italian Villa that was like a dream! As we pulled into the estate, we were in awe of…read morethe huge, gorgeous stone structure, surrounded by the amazing grounds... olives trees, oranges trees, beautiful trees, herbs, flowers, and rolling hills. This working farm villa had geese, dogs, cats, goats and other animals on the property. There was an incredible patio with an overhand covered in floral vines, and in the back was a serene pool where you could relax and take in the scenery. Also available was a sauna. The setting was breathtaking and we were even more enthralled when we entered the villa! We first walked into the side door leading into the rustic yet modern kitchen where fresh bread, pasta, sauce and fruits were left to welcome us. The kitchen had all the necessary amenities and appliances we needed! There was a chef at the villa, (the owner/family lived in the upper villa) and we opted to have dinner made for us one night... a culinary experience five course meal! Delightful! Breakfast was served everyday...a feast of fresh eggs, breads, yogurt/granola/fruit/honey/jams, cured meats and cheeses, juices, coffee, tea... incredible edibles!! The service was impeccable, everyone, especially Nina and Niccolo, we so accommodating and hospitable. We also made several of our own meals and enjoyed some nearby eateries.
From the kitchen we were led into the open dining area with lovely tiled floors, wooden rafters, complete with a huge grill, and a wine cellar (which we made use of, wink wink) and then into the sitting room with comfy sofas and a tv, followed by a game room with a fabulous vintage billiard table (which we also enjoyed) and other games and cards. From there we entered my favorite space, a library with a soft leather chair, stone floors and bricked arched ceilings, shelves and shelves of books - I spent many hours and tea and reading here!!
Off in various hallways were the three bedrooms, each with a private bath. The beds were comfortable and there were plenty of towels, complimentary robes, and extra blankets in each room. The rooms were somewhat medieval, stone and brick floors, walls and ceilings, lots of arched ceilings, wrought iron, alcoves...two of the three bathrooms had showers, my hubby and I volunteered to take the one with the tub and hand shower, and although it was a tad challenging to bathe and wash my long hair in that tub, it got the job done! I found the villa chilly, with all the stone and brick, and at times the heat wasn't working well, but that was the only tiny glitch in our stay! We had plenty of blankets to keep us warm! The entire place was personable, inviting, and full of rustic charm! We utilized all of the offerings this villa had available and had a fantastic time... beyond our dreams! We would without a doubt stay in this majestic villa if ever returning to Italy! We were sure to leave it as perfectly appointed as when we arrived! Ciao!!
