I took my new-to-me car to the shop yesterday for brighter headlights. My 2015 Nissan had amber headlights which only offered diffuse lighting for Monterey's oft foggy and unlit roadways. I wanted the opportunity to see and to be seen when I drive at night. The owner emailed me last month to let me know that his shop could install the lights for my budget & the process would take 30 minutes max - no appointment needed. I stopped by yesterday morning & was welcomed into the cleanest mechanic's shop I've ever seen. Not a speck of dust or drop of oil anywhere. Everything was spotless and freshly painted. The vehicle lighting displays were numerous & offered something for every customer. Of course, I'm sensible. The owner suggested that I add fog lights for additional safety while I'm driving and found a set that matched my budget. Done! Lights look great and will ensure that I see everything while I'm driving. I got an email shortly after the inquiry was sent to come in and chat more about my project. From the initial meeting with Inti, at the front sales, my impression of the shop was that they were very trustworthy from their overall knowledge, recommendations and experience. They weren't pushy in trying to sell me things I didn't need as they utilized the understanding of my usage I communicated to them. Inti even pulled out a sample tire from inside the shop up to my truck so I can get a better visual of what my project may look like. I appreciate customer service like this where you don't feel rushed and the rep really spends time to understand what you want. I kept seeing Advanced Trucks on my way through Morgan Hill and I wanted to patronize this independent shop rather than going to a chain 4x4 shop. I'm glad I did as I am thoroughly happy with the final product. Inti kept me in the loop on the progress, checked in when needed, gave me an accurate timeline and delivered within that timeline. The paperless contract was also a nice touch which made everything easy to access and pretty transparent as far as costs were concerned. This wasn't a small inconvenience--I took a full day off work (costing me about $700), drove over an hour to get there, and spent a good amount on gas since my car gets terrible mileage. When I arrived, I spoke with Alejandro--the same person who set up my appointment. After looking at my car, he refused to do the job. What really frustrated me was his reasoning: he admitted they are not capable of installing tint without leaving dirt, dust, or debris under the film. That completely contradicts what he told me when I first booked. I specifically asked about the quality of their installs, and he assured me they had zero tolerance for dirt or debris. That's the only reason I trusted them with the appointment. So I lost a day of income, time, and travel expenses for nothing. To make matters worse, Alejandro said he would Zelle me $100 to help cover the wasted trip and inconvenience. That never happened. Bottom line: poor communication, wasted time, and broken promises. I would strongly recommend finding a shop that is upfront about their capabilities and respects your time.
