Ordered a bagel and cream cheese in the drive thru. Just handed me the bag without saying anything and when I go to eat my bagel realize they didn't provide a knife or anything to spread the cream cheese with. I was the only customer there with nobody else inside or in the drive thru. These two employees there were not only lazy but also kind of rude. I got a hazelnut latte and egg, tomato, and cream cheese bagel. Both were excellent. Just a little pricey for personal budget. The young lady with the long wavy hair greeting was kind of snippy & when informing me my sandwich was ready. The young man who took my order was friendly. read more

Good coffee and bagels/pastries, service was okay but quick!! The shop was cute but had a strange smell, but overall good!

Another one of my fav pit stops on the way to the highway. I love how they have a drive thru! The service is always great and their coffee is even better. My go-to is an iced americano and boyyyy, it will get you thru the day! Now if you have some time to kill, def stop by inside and enjoy the hip but modern feels of the coffee bar, or chit chat with friends on the sofa chairs in the corner. There's also group seating with larger tables btw, so there's something for everyone. This is a small coffee shop, but who needs loud and obnoxious when you have coffee and chill? ;) Definitely a great study corner. Free WiFi, just early closing hours. read more

So happy I stumbled upon this cute little coffee shop while stopping in Cookeville. One of the yummiest breakfast bagels I've ever had in my life!! And only $4.50?? Such a good deal. Also they have the sweetest people working there. Great atmosphere as well. Highly recommend! read more

Perfect coffee shop in Cookeville! I came in January, so they still had a lot of seasonal lattes available for me to try. I already forgot what drink it was, but I got a hot latte which I loved. The shop itself is very cute and trendy. Also perfect for spending some time with a friend or getting work done. Friendly staff and clean interior. However, it did take some time for our drinks to be prepped - a little inefficient in my opinion. Come here for good drinks, stay for the sweet interior. read more

This is a well worthy place to write about. I'm visiting my son and this is the best place I've actually enjoyed eating at since I've been in Cookeville. The bagels are amazing. Reminds me of back in my New York days, which they are known for having the best bagels. The Pumpkin Pie Chia was delicious. My husband, who I might add is very picky, really enjoyed the Chicken Salad on a Croissant. I highly recommended this coffee shop. read more

With not much competition other than Starbucks, this was one of the very few local alternatives. Poet's is a welcoming, friendly and efficient shop. They brew Bongo out of Nashville, but their brewing practices are far inferior to any of the Bong Java shops in Nashville. I originally wanted cold brew, but they do not do a cold brew here, so I settled for an irish creme latte. The latte was all milk and the syrup was really strong, almost like a cough syrup--there was very little evidence of the presence of espresso. I have never had to ask for an extra shot at a local/craft shop, but I may need to the next time I give these folks a try. The chocolate chip cookie was great! read more

I've been to both locations. And both have been mediocre. I came to this location around 9:30AM on a Saturday. Lots of empty space and minimal decor. They're trying to go for a hipster rustic vibe but it lacks personality and character. I'll give them this tho- I like the retail! Some of it a little random but all together it's attractive and I might buy one of those mugs. Two baristas are tending to bar. They do not engage us or even look at us. They just keep making drinks for drive thru. Not even a "we'll be right with you." My group of 3 wait. And wait some more. Finally I give up and tell my friend what I want and use the restroom. I come out and we've ordered clever brewed coffees. Cool. Not what we got though. Apparently we got some random cone shaped pour over thing(only thing comparable to it would be a kalitta) even though we were told we would be getting a clever. This random cone shaped pour over takes the unhappy barista about 10 mins for three coffees. Eventually we each get our coffee and the guy actually smiled! That was nice. I think he apologized. I don't remember- he didn't leave much of an impression. I don't get much from this place. The only reason I go there is because I'm in the area and they're the only ones that buy good beans. But I don't feel like this place is that special. Poets has definitely capitalized on being the only decent coffee place in town. Since there's no competition they don't need to do much that's above and beyond. People don't want "It's alright." They want "Wow!" But when there's no wow, the go for the alright. I love the new Poet's South! this is not a new coffeeshop, but it has recently undergone new ownership. yes, the few of us that love Perk Up, it is unfortunate that it is now no longer there; however, reports from the new owners and from what I've seen visiting have shown that they are trying to keep the customer base and some of the favourite eats still on the menu! DRINKS: I never got anything special when I was visited Perk Up, but this time when I visited Poet's South I decided to try both their frozen hot chocolate and their Vietnamese coffee. oh my gosh. the frozen hot chocolate was worth it! and yes, I got it in the middle of a cold wintery day. that's how much I wanted it / loved it. the Vietnamese coffee is a good rendition of the actual one, but not the exact same. but I would recommend it actually for locals that are interested in trying the Vietnamese coffee but like something a little bit sweeter than the original drink. its pretty good! FOOD: they still have a similar (if not same, I've forgotten) menu as Perk Up. they offer breakfast eats and lunch eats throughout the day and also some baked goods lined along the counter. DECOR: lets talk décor. this was the most impressive thing about my visit! I loved what they did to the space and the renovations that they underwent. They also have CUTE gifts on the corner near the drive through window for those that want to pick up a lil something something to give to a loved one or to keep for themselves. I'm definitely picking up one of those mugs before I move out of TN! It was very spacious inside and they had a large table near the back for those that would like to study. they had 2 comfy chairs in a corner for those that want to chat, and a long table near the front of the store for those instagram photos that we like to take with adequate natural lighting. there were a few tables and chairs scattered throughout as well. It looked like it would be a good study spot if you brought your earphones! or a good place to catch up with friends and family. Its very clean, which is something I love in a coffee shop. and I love how cutesy all the décor, inside and out, was at this new establishment! STAFF: the staff was INCREDIBLY friendly!!! I loved the service that they provided. overall, this is probably my fav coffeeshop now in Cookeville. I will definitely be frequenting this quite often whenever I come home for breaks or to study! read more

Passed through for a local coffee shop on our way back to Cali and was very impressed with both the owner's sweet and charming personality and the hot lavender latte that I ordered. The espresso note lingered and was pleasantly balanced with a hint of sweetened lavender. Yum! My husband had an Americano; my daughter had a caramel frappe, and they were equally delighted.
