I came to the park for the annual Hot Air balloon Jubilee. There are some paved walking trails and a lot of open field areas. This would be a great place for events or enjoying some fresh air. The festival is awesome! Parking is a little hectic. read more

Fun place for a day trip! There is more to do there than your typical park, event or not. They have a wave pool with plenty of space to relax and catch some rays. The beach area was open last time I went. I especially like the high dive platforms at the Olympic pool. I have been there when they had diving competitions there. They also had Civil War reenactments in the park, hot air balloon races and such. And, they have walking trails. read more

We get season passes to the water park. It is the cleanest water park around the southeast US. Whitewater in Atlanta is a dump in comparison. The park has a nice huge swimming pool with diving boards. There is the first ever wave pool in America, at this park, too! There is a nice sandy beach area on the lake/river. That is my favorite place to be. You can lay on the loungers and get sun or stay under the umbrellas. My daughter loves collecting shells from there. There are a variety of water slides to choose from as well. The lines are usually pretty short and not much of a wait. They rotate the life guards for each station out every 30 minutes or so so no one gets burnt out and are fresh for their area. It works well! They don't let you bring coolers in but you can go back to your car and tail gate if need be. They give you a wrist band to get back in. The food is reasonably priced, in my opinion. They have an inflation station for floats so you don't blow a lung out. that is helpful. You can also rent floats for the wave pool, too. If you own a boat and have a pass you can hook up to their dock and come right on in to the park from your boat. That is a nice perk. There is plenty of parking and other things to do at the park, outside of the water park. You can play golf, go to the batting cages, driving range, campground, tennis courts, soccer fields, and an ice skating rink. read more

All of the complaints that other people have about this place are spot-on. If you go, don't expect to be treated well. You will have to deal with all the restrictions. For me, the worst part was their ridiculous thunder/lightning policy. Apparently, if any lightning is detected withing 20 miles, the part shuts down for at least 30 minutes. 20 miles?!?!?!?!!!! That is completely absurd. Of course, this happened when I was there, and even though there was no lightning or thunder (or even rain) anywhere to be found, they shut down the park. How dumb is it that you can't go on the rides even though it is bright and sunny and only a few clouds in the sky? read more

Maybe check the weather before you go, it's not the parks fault that it storms, they just don't want people to get struck by lightning.

We went to Point Mallard for a company party and were very glad it was free admission. I grew up in Decatur from third grade through my senior year and never went there before, and now I know I wasn't really missing anything by that. It was fun, but I wouldn't pay money for this. read more

Exactly what everyone else says 1. the most ridiculous price ($8) for a VERY tiny locker that would not hold a bag... Also no refund for lockers if it rains and as well ...2.beautiful weather (20% chance of rain)walking in the Prk and then it's lightning 20 miles away and they close the whole park no rain check or refund whatsoever!!!! What a rip!!! I've been to water parks that were a lot more fun and offered way more than this place!!! read more

So can't bring in your own food because they have affordable options. Yes it's not to pricey compared to other parks, but the quality and service are not equal to price one pays. Took me about a half hour to order my food and another half hour to get it. First problem was that all he workers were teenagers. Second issue was that the manger was folding boxes and not leading the team. Third issue was that not one person stayed in the same position. Everyone just keep moving around. Fourth not one ounce of energy in the restaurant. Fifth why are pizzas made to order during peak times. Also I witnessed and employee brake up a frozen bag of cheese on the ground like one would with a bag of ice. Also this employee was wearing gloves and was preceding to dump it in the pan and then make pizzas. I had to intervene and call out the employee for what he and just done. I got a stair down like what ever dude and then through the bag away and changed gloves. Just felt it was poorly managed and that not one person cares. I get that it's a water park, but come on! read more

Point Mallard Park is the perfect place for a day trip if YOU DO NOT USE THE RESTROOM. There are enough activities to hold kids' attention for 4-6 hours. During such time you are guaranteed to use the locker room/restrooms multiple times. The women's locker room is large spatially, yet the stalls are tiny. I literally had to stand my young child on the toilet so I could close the door. The stalls are less than three feet wide and the door barely clears the toilet. I don't understand why a water park geared toward children would make the restroom stalls so small that an adult nor an adult with a small child could fit. The issue of small stalls are further compounded by the fact that the facility is not regularly cleaned so there is wet tissue, pool water and who knows what else all over the floor. The floors are raw concrete and the stall walls are painted plywood, so I don't know why they don't just hose down the place. It is obvious the owners spent time planning the park but put zero effort in the area where bio-hazards are potentially introduced to visitors who in turn track them into the pools. I went to Point Mallard this month for the first time in 20+ years. The area seemed clean but there were customer service problems that really destroyed what was suppose to be a fun day in the sun. First, no coolers allowed. My family has servere dietary restrictions and this rule, accompanied by the lack of ANY healthy food in the park (not even a bananna), broke up our day. We had to leave the park to have lunch or snack. Second, the complete lack of lockers on the West side. When I asked about lockers they told me they took them out of the West side. why!?! Having to walk with all our gear and two kids all the way to the other side of the park was ridiculous. Third, the price of the lockers. I have been to water parks in Orlando, San Antonio, Denver, San Diego and never have I seen such LOUSY lockers for such an exorbitant price. The lockers are 1' x1' x 1' and cost $8. I had to spend $16 on two lockers (one just to hold our shoes!) that was after spending $60 to get in! Forget about the lockers holding a backpack or a bag of any appreciable size. Fourth, the black/red pavement. Do not walk on the black or red pavement, it is HOT. This wouldn't be so bad, if the company allowed you to walk on the grass. There are signs everywhere about staying off the grass but they don't have reflective,cool pavement everywhere or a covering. My feet are blistered and by the end of the day I never wanted to return. Fifth, the modesty signs in the bathroom. REALLY!?! I don't know if these signs are in the boys bathroom (I suspect not) but asking us to be "modest" in a bathroom for a waterpark?!? You know people have to change out of a bathing suit, right? If you really want modesty, offer changing rooms...there were none. Sixth, no recycling!! So, if you still want to go, here are my suggestions: 1) go early and park close to the main entrance,2) go on a half-price day (check their website) 3) keep your cooler in the car packed with healthy food, because all you are going to get inside are hot dogs, hamburgers, fatty pizza, and BBQ (why would you want to eat that stuff after being in the hot sun!?!).4) wear flip flops- I have never had to do this at any other water park ( due to the wonderful white or covered sidewalks) but apparently it is mandatory here 5) plan to pack out your plastics and cans, or better yet- bring reusable bottles!. Don't waste your time with this waterpark! My family went over the 4th holiday weekend and had a horrible experience. First of all they have a rule of no swim shirts on their slides and diving boards. Really?? I can understand regular shirts but not swim shirts. My 9 yr old daughter had a swim suit that had a swim shirt as the top. In order to go down any of the slides she had to take it off and be humiliated. This is unacceptable! Swim shirts will not harm slides. They are made for the water! And no swim shirts on the diving boards?? I do not understand the reasoning behind this at all. And when I asked lifeguards why they did not know. Also no goggles or diving masks allowed in the lazy river. Lifeguards will single you out and make you take them out. And although it is posted that the park closes at 6 pm they shut all the slides down at 5:45pm. And they don't care if you ve been waiting in line for 30 min for a certain slide. At 5:45pm on the nose slides are shut down. Don't bother visiting this waterpark. They make it their mission to make sure you aren't having any fun! read more

I'd have to say this is a pretty nice park. After reading about the lockers we didn't get one. The parking was decent and we could go out to our car pretty easily. They let you go in and out as much as you want. It did rain when we were there but they didn't stop anything until the lightning came and then they started everything back up as soon as it went away even though it was still raining. My 7 year old loved the water slides. We saw 6 different ones but there might have been more. My 9 year old loved the diving boards. They have a really high one that dives into 15 feet of water and 3 regular ones that dove into a 9 foot pool. They have a very large pool that starts at 3 1/2 feet that I could stay in with my 7 year old and keep an eye on my 9 year old while he jumped over and over off the diving boards. We bought a large pizza with 4 drinks for $22 that was pretty good. There is a bit of wear around the place that comes from being old and they could use a bit more inner tubes for the rides but my kids had a blast and we'll definitely go back. read more
