I was reminded about Rudy's by my son who gets a lot of meat here for smoking in his smoker. I've been by twice and the first time was just so so. My problem was that I didn't order ahead.! The great thing about this place is they are busy! It's a popular place! There are guys in the back butchering and cutting up meat! It is pretty cool to watch! This is truly a homey place and I can see why my mom visited for her meat needs and she ordered ahead! When you walk in, you can tell there are a lot of regulars. People take numbers, get their meats, have conversations. A nice and welcoming vibe. I ordered an Easter Ham from David. He was great in explaining the difference between bone in, boneless and cooking differences. I did a boneless sliced ham and it was perfect for my own glaze. Everyone enjoyed and the ham itself was good. Not salty or fatty. I will definitely be back and if there is something specific I want, I will call ahead. They are really great and I highly recommend!

And as always, the folks were friendly and super-helpful! Besides that damn credit card minimum, I see not one negative about this place. You'd think it wouldn't be hard to rack up a hefty price tag with all their awesome poultry products, but everything is so cheap it's crazy! We got 3lb of chicken tenders to marinate for kabobs and 4 beer brats, which just got us over the $10 min. Let me just say the brats alone were worth $10 in taste alone and I'm definitely coming back for the burgers and breakfast sausages! The tenders were perfectly trimmed, mild and... well, tender! I sometimes buy the spicy Italian in bulk and make a huge pot of spaghetti sauce with mushrooms and San Marzano tomatoes. The other poultry products are very good. The chicken appears really fresh and is pretty tasty. They also have really friendly customer service. Places like this make it almost impossible to go vegetarian! They even have rabbit meat. But in a lucky twist of fate, Fosters Meats came through with the perfect amount of helpfulness, knowledge and patience. Hallelujah! Jason, Kelton and I stopped by the WSM for a roast and some fresh bread. We didn't think it would take long so we scooped up the first 15 minute parking spot we could find. The first steps we took inside I was thinking we might want to move the car--with this crowd we were going no where fast! We didn't move the car, but we did start to make our way through the crowd until we spotted the first meat counter, Fosters. We were immediately noticed and asked if we needed help! Wow. So, Jason quickly explained what we were looking to cook and how many we were serving hoping to get some guidance on what to purchase. The Foster's employee cut us the perfect portion of beef at the right price and it turned out delicious! He even worked with the credit card minimum to make sure we were happy campers and got us out in time to move our car! Polite, quick, efficient, helpful and actually smiling! Yes, I as surprised too! I got the Kytana sandwich, which has smoked there, bacon, avocado, Russian dressing and arugula on a brioche bun with caraway seeds. My friend got the bbq short rib sandwich which looked delicious. It was on a hoagie roll and had pickles, red onion and cheddar cheese. The bbq sauce was really light, kind of seemed like a bbq gravy, but it was really tasty. I also got a pumpkin snickerdoodle cookie which was tasty. Service was super friendly and comfortable. They also sell different kinds local things like mustards, sauces, and coffee. My only critique is that they are often out of something or another. If you aren't there for lunch you're not getting corned beef, they carry drinks and chips and such and I'm sure it's hard to keep everything stocked but sometimes I have to settle when it comes to what drink or chips I choose.
