Slightly off the beaten path on Smithfield Rd, is this gem of a snow cone place! They have a cute Olaf photo op, a lending library, and a small covered sitting area with some fans to be able to enjoy your items. Prices are a little high for what I'm used to at our normal stop: but they let you get 2 flavors! Plus this is a bigger spot than my normal small stop. Staff was extremely helpful answering my kiddos questions about their various special flavors like BatMan, Spider-Man, etc. My kiddo went with his favorite two flavors Tigers blood & Cherry. I ended up asking if they thought Banana & orangesicle would go well together... and the person helping us had a moment of Oh definitely that's a great idea! (He really liked the suggestion!) They do have a punch card, so if you plan on coming frequently or have a number of people coming with you every visit, be sure to get one! Can't wait for our next time to stop for one so we can try more flavors! read more

Tried the huge watermelon extravaganza. Only 2 flavors are included and $.50 each additional flavor. The price was reasonable I guess and the flavor is typical of shave ice..nothing great or bad. There is no inside seating, so that was a bit of a bummer since we were in 100+ degrees, but no complaints on the shaved ice. The 2 that worked there was nice and they gave us an extra cup. read more

Yummy snow cone on a hot day. Steven the owner is super friendly and will even let you try some flavors if you ask him. Location is very close to home so it's a great spot for us in NRH. It's oddly placed next to a cemetery so that's a little creepy. I wonder if they have Halloween flavors during October to kinda fit the graveyard theme. lol. The Olaf is cute for photos and there's even a photo box you can take photos and it will send to your phone. He should offer a discount or free cone when you take a photo and post on social media. My boyfriend and I were looking for a way to cool down during the Texas Heat. We arrived at Polar Penguin about 20 mins before they closed and we were the only customers there. We were greeted by a friendly staff member who took our orders. The prices are reasonable and you are totally getting your money's worth. They have plenty of flavors to choose from sweet to sour. Love this place! Steven, the owner, is so friendly and will just sit and chat with you while he makes your order. He also played bartender for me when I didn't know what I wanted. Love this place! Close to home and schools/daycare. They have a kiddie size perfect for my 3 and 5 year old. They get the rainbow snowcone. I havent tried any gourmet options, i like a plain cherry. They add plenty of juice and add a straw and spoon. Perfect for these hot summer days! read more

History

Established in 2016.

I grew up down the street and came to this very same sno cone stand during my childhood. I would visit so frequently that the employees would have my order already made for me by the time it took me to approach the window. Ever since early middle school, I've always wanted to have my own stand. In January 2016, while I was passing by, I noticed the previous owners closed shop for good. It was painful to see my favorite summer hangout spot was no more. After giving it a couple weeks of intense thought I decided to take additional steps for establishment. We soon opened May of 2016 and have been around ever since!
