Susan Polk and all of her staff are very helpful and knowledgeable, and twice they have helped me get the coverage I needed in a pinch. Each time I called them I felt very comfortable and that they really care. They quickly helped me get prescription drug coverage that Id lost because the company went out of business. And I wasn't informed, I found out when I was refiling 2 of my 14 prescriptions, the pharmacist came out and said do you have insurance. I was in shock, I said yes I do, she gave me a number to call, but it wasn't correct. I sat in my car trying to figure out what to do. My blood pressure was going up, and as I sat there starting to feel hot tears rolling down my face. Then I remembered what I did when I lost my insurance due to my husbands company he'd worked at for 26 years going out if business. So because I'm disabled and had Medicare part A, Susan Polk helped my get the coverage I needed. So I called them up and was able to get coverage I needed within a few days, and because of how medicare works it didn't start until the first of the next month. Brook was very helpful in keeping me up to date as to where my application was in process, and never made me feel as if I was bothering her when I called to ask a question. Guess I'm the outlier from all the 5 star reviews. My experience is that the agency is overly busy and my book of business is just a blip on the spreadsheet. My last encounter was a simple question about my Medicare drug plan, posed twice over a period of months to an assistant, and answered by the owner. The response I received was "please re-read the email and follow the instructions... we are unable to answer every email personally..." I think the agency is knowledgable but I'd rather work with someone who has the time to answer my questions directly. Your mileage may vary. I found myself in a very horrible situation, being informed my Insurance had been canceled without any prior notification. I had just turned 60 years old, so as you may be able to imagine I was in a state of panic. I am very active, I cycle 100 miles a week, ride horses, hike in the back country and down hill ski. First of all, had there been more than 5 stars, Susan would have gotten a higher rating from me. I was in Southern California ready to make a move to San Luis Obispo county. Susan had stellar ratings and reviews on Yelp so I contacted her. From the start, Susan was professional, VERY knowledgeable and informative. I knew right off that she was the one. Susan made Medicare comprehensive for me. Medical insurance is convoluted enough....Medicare is more so. She set up my husband with the perfect plan for him. She knows her stuff inside, outside and upside down. We moved to SLO, met Susan and Veronica; set up my husband with Medicare plus Rx. Easy breezy and since I'm Japanese, I feel I can add, Japanesey. I needed to get a termination letter from our previous insurer, and then my husband's Medicare would be done and done with his new carrier, Mutual of Omaha. Little did I know that Kaiser was about to take me into a mired cluster of miscommunications, circumlocutions and non-action. Laurie and Susan came to the rescue! They were in communication with Kaiser, kept Mutual of Omaha apprised of the situation and kept me informed and calm! It was a relief to know that Susan and Laurie understood the situation, they knew Kaiser's MO, they had an existing relationship with MOO and most importantly, they were there for us.
