The picarones are like fried donut shaped beignets; don't expect fluffy or airy but they are tasty with a mildly sweet syrup. The fried potatoes had zero seasoning. I'd probably give it more of a 3.5 but for authentic Peruvian plates I'll give appreciation points. We had a nice, patient waiter who give specific descriptions about each of the menu items.

Authentic Peruvian flavor that feels like home…read more I visited Sabor a Barrio while visiting from California, and as a Peruvian, I was so happy to find a place that truly felt like home. The first time I went, I had jalea de mariscos and a chicha morada absolutely amazing! Crunchy, flavorful, and fresh. The second time, I ordered tallarín saltado and it was just as delicious. My friend had arroz chaufa a lo macho on our first visit (so good and full of flavor!) and the second time she got tallarines a la huancaína con carne another tasty combo. The food was rich, authentic, and made with care. Peruvian food will always be my favorite, and this place reminded me why. The service was also wonderful the server was kind enough to give me a little extra chicha morada to take home. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a true taste of Peru in Virginia!
