I've spent many an hour playing on it with my nieces and nephew - the kids love the perspex, multicoloured panels - they rotate and provide a great opportunity to play hide and seek. In my bolder moments I would say it was one of the finest views you are likely to see anywhere. You can see the whole city from up here, from the south to the east, to the city centre and the west end. On a clear day you can see all the way to the Campsies. Granted, they aren't that far from Glasgow, but they are hills all the same. A handy little map points out all the places of interest, be it the cathedral or the University. From the flagpole my boyfriend can see all three of his old schools, the street he grew up on, the football pitch he played on, the stadium of the team he supports, both his universities and the church he was christened in. Also nearby is the Battlefield Monument, commemorating the site of one of the most signifcant battles in Scotland's history - the Battle of Langside of 1568 in which Mary, Queen of Scots' army was defeated by James VI. The space is outdoors so if you're going for an event dress for Scottish weather. That said it was a clear dry, if windy, night when I attended. Definitely worth checking out.

This old, iron bridge is located in Linn Park - Glasgow's second largest park. If you enter the park, walk down the hill and turn right, you'll find it without difficulty. It spans the River Cart and forms part of the River Cart Walkway. There are several reasons I love this bridge. It featured regularly in my childhood - my dad would take us there at the weekends whilst mum was sleeping off her nightshift. I love nature - it's surrounded by some awesome trees etc, and you can often see squirrels kicking back on it, enjoying the sun. The river itself. Is quite fast moving at this point (only a few hundred get away from the little waterfalls) - and you can usually spot fish and ducks in it. Nowadays, I visit her with my nieces and nephew - they love doing races across it. But, the main reason I love it is the design. It has that awesome combination of intricate design, whilst remaining simple and elegant. They don't make them like this anymore!

I…read morewould best describe him as a proto-modernist who was way ahead of his time and somehow achieved architecture, furniture, and design that could be both described as minimal and also Art Nouveau. Out of all the places you can visit in Glasgow I would recommend this one as closest to the original intent. Other places have had to unfortunately modernize with exit signs, lighting, etc... that were not part of the original vision. On site there is a gift shop, cafe with indoors and outdoor seating, upstairs private meeting room and wedding area, and of course rooms designed by Mackintosh. The only unfortunate name is "House For An Art Lover". It seems somehow not so serious and I think it should have just been called "Mackintosh House". This was designed in paper in 1908 but not completed until 1996, there is an alcove between the 1st and 2nd story that has a scale model and reproductions of the design drawings. The thing I LOVED is there were no barriers and you could touch and sit anywhere you want. There is a room with a fancy piano and I was surprised you could sit there and play on it, listened to our oldest play Minuet in G and felt like we were transported back in time. This is the room that shows up in a lot of photography and our favorite.

As you enter there is a £7 entry fee and you will be handed an audio guid and instructed to head upstairs where you will find stunning Mackintosh designed rooms including the main hall, the oval room and my favourite: the music room and the staircase! This is definitely a wonderful place to visit whether your a Mackintosh fan or not!

Today, it is looking worse for ware as one of my photos shows the roof clearly falling into disrepair. This is very unfortunate as despite it being pint sized, it's a really nice building. There are some really intricate masonry details and carvings (is that what they're called when you're talking about stone??). These are furthered by: impressive iron gates; an equally pretty and well constructed gatepost and even the slate roof looks good! All of which makes for a nice, welcoming and well flavoured entrance for the whole of, what is now, Pollok Country Park. However, due to massive and deep rooted funding problems, it seems unlikely that this building will get the repairs and TLC it desperately needs. Therefore, it's worth having a nosey of it soon and enjoying the pretty setting of it next to the White Cart and century old trees. Lovely for a Sunday afternoon stroll.

However, the…read more Caretakers on the day of the wedding force the groom or bride to pay them from £40-£80 with no receipt to put the tables away, which they are supposed to do anyway. Also Hiring the whole building is pointless as they show people around during your allocated time and literally dont care about any complaints. I have spoken to several people who didnt know that the caretakers shouldnt be asking for money and have given it to them. They tell you if you dont pay them they will take it from your deposit, which they wont as it doesnt go to the hall it goes in to their pocket. They have also in the past told outside companies to pay them if they want recommended for work there, They are shameless and shouldnt be anywhere near the Burgh Hall especially since its a non profit charitable organisation!! If they have done this to you contact the OSCR paying over £1200 for a hall, chairs and tables is bad enough without having to pay extra for someone to move them back at the end of the night. RIDICULOUS

The chairs were still getting set out as we arrived and the person doing this seemed extremely annoyed and told us the bride and groom should of been doing this themselves....on their wedding day! We had previously enquired here as we had considered this a potential wedding venue, if I can give any advice to couples - don't do it! The lady who deals with weddings is never there and doesn't work on a Saturday - the main wedding day! I could go on and on but won't be wasting my time.

The structural complex itself is interesting to walk past and have a look as this was the location of an older (smaller and simpler) version of the more modern - a.k.a 1752 - Pollok House which now stands in the distance. Hence, there is some interesting history to the location and previous uses of this site for all the historians among you. Or, of course, people with social interest in Pollok Country Park and its previous inhabitants. Meanwhile, the four Clydesdale horses continue to heighten the Park's attractiveness to visitors and tourist. This is mainly done through, the extremely child friendly and entertaining horse drawn open top waggons that take groups of children, and adults, on rides through the park. These are often every hour to every half hour from the 1st of April till the 31st of October (e.g. the spring and summer seasons).

Pollock Old Courtyard Stables are just effortlessly handsome as they stand in the Country Park…read more Still in use, the stables are infact acting as stables for the huge horses that they use for the park attractions. It is not to exhilarating but you will get a view all-round the park of every nook and cranny it has to offer. The Old Courtyard Stables being in Pollock Country Park are accessible to all from the city centre of Glasgow, being only about 3 miles out of the city. There also public transport links by means of bus if you don't have a car. Worth a visit if you like this sort of thing, you know such as castles, old mansions, history. The Stables are set in a beautiful surrounding which whilst on-site you can very nearly imaging them in their hay day and full working order.

Think it is mainly used as an artist space which is good but then most people will not see the building, which is a shame. The Briggait is a pleasant looking, large and spacious place, at a really good location…read more I've been there several times already, attending The Glasgow Coffee Festival, Judy's Vintage Fairs, and the Etsy Made Local Fair (maybe even more, but these were the most remarkable occasions). The most important thing I have to mention is that I liked all of these. Not only were the topics usually interesting to me, but the exhibitors/sellers were also carefully selected. The events were always well organised, and I never had the feeling that many things could be improved about the circumstances. What I especially appreciate is that the venue is never overcrowded, either because there is a limit to people attending at the same time, or a small entrance fee that might keep some of the less interested audience out. I hope it will keep hosting lots of interesting events in the future as well. I will be looking for them.
