-Okay, this is a love it or hate it kinda place.- this is not a authentic mexican food restaurant. In my opinion is the reason for the love/hate. Pros: *The atmosphere in the front is great. *You can watch the tortillas being made, that is always neat. *the tortillas taste great and are fresh. *chips are good and warm. *guacamole, yum! *many great dishes to choose from. *love to finish off with a warm tortilla with honey and butter rolled up. You make it yourself. Just ask for the tortillas, honey & butter. It is a common thing to have here. YUM! Cons: *The split off rooms aren't as great. They just have their quirks. *Bathrooms are dirty & old. We really don't like that! *the mild salsa is like ketchup. *yellow queso- is cheese out of a can from your average grocery store. Without any flavor. Use to be pretty good, not now. *pass on the deserts- premade and taste like a freezer. All of this being said, we have been there tons and keep going back. My husband & I have been eating at Polo s for years. We think it is the best Mexican food & compare all Mexican food to polos and we have't found any we like better. I love the queso fundido. You can't get that at any other Mexican restaurant. The homemade tortilla chips are the best. read more

I have been eating at Polo's for years. The atmosphere is great, and the waiters do their job well. I actually enjoy their salsa, unlike most people, since I like the tomatoey taste and not chunky salsa. I always order the shrimp giso, since I'm a pescatarian, which is always made fresh and tastes great. I live in L.A. and NO trip to Oklahoma is complete without a stop at Polo's. I've read the other reviews. Apparently they have no idea what mexican food is supposed to taste like, probably dislike Polo's cause it isn't Taco Bell. The queso fundido is legendary. The service is always excellent. And they serve the best nachos. The mild salsa is for people who don't eat much spicy food, ask for something hotter. Ground beef is not in traditional mexican food. read more

We found a gem!!! This place is so unique! Feels like you are in Puerto Rico.. Ask to be shown around to see all the places to eat ( the patio, bars, and other chambers ) the fajitas where amazing! The white cheese dip Is so creamy and yummy... Chili Reno is really good as well. I'm sure you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.. Read the reviews and really expected so much more! People must not eat much Mexican! We got there around 4:15. Not busy. Got sat quickly, but took quite a while before a waiter came by. He took drink orders and left. Booth across from us was sat and then got their drinks. We were still waiting. They placed their FOOD order. Okay, here comes our Margarita and ice water. We placed order. Received chips and salsa. The salsa tastes like a runny tomato sauce. No heat! We had to ask for tortillas. And cheese dip. We agreed to pay $5.50 for large cheese dip. Some of the food is not so great, however they do have their moments. Service is usually pretty good but can be hectic at times; a lot of people choose to eat and socialize there and it can become quite noisy. I only go to Polo's when I'm meeting with family from out of town, and that's more for the tradition rather that quality of service. There's been times our waitress has forgotten meals that we ordered, or have brought us the wrong orders. All in all, if you're looking for a place to meet up with friends for a quick dinner, this is the place to go. read more

Tied with La Fiesta for the TexMex restaurant of choice in Ada. Often come here for lunch and it's always very busy, so that should tell you something. I agree with the mild salsa comments but who eats mild salsa anyway! The spicy salsa is just fine and the tortillas are great. I've been coming to Polo's for all of my 25 years. I currently live in Fort Worth (aka the Tex-Mex capital of the world) and Polo's is still by far my favorite. I make my parent's take me every chance I can when I'm home to visit. Their guacamole is my favorite, but there literally isn't anything bad on the menu. I rotate between getting the Jalisco (two enchiladas) or their fajitas. Be prepared if you get the fajitas, they are flambeed table-side with vodka. read more

Waited 20 minutes on cold soup. The salsa is ketchup. No chicken in my chicken soup. They sure piled on the cheese though. That's what you get with white people serving Mexican food I guess. We have found the Polo's resturant to be the best and most consistant place to eat in Ada. The service is always superb. The wait staff is well trained, courtious and a plesant addition to the great food. To understand how wonderful the food is you just have to arrive about meal time. I have eaten at Mexican restaurants all over the state, because I love Mexican food. I honestly have no idea how this place is in business. I live in McAlester and had to travel here for a doctors appointment and had to find somewhere to eat supper at. My husband ordered chicken quesadillas which he said were cold and bland, and tortillas tasted like they were store bought. We also ordered white queso for an appetizer (which was 6.00). I ordered the Beef chimichanga with rice. When I got my chimichanga it was filled with shredded steak beef instead of ground hamburger meat. I got the yellow queso on top of the chimichanga and it tasted like the yellow cheese you get at a basketball or football game, straight out of the can. I just told her to take back the chimichanga and I would try to eat the rice. It was inedible as well. When we got the bill it was 30.00 . (after they took off my chimichanga) for 2 people, and one of them didn't get a full meal! I paid 6 for queso, and 4 for rice, for a side of rice, it was 4 dollars!!!!!!!! Then 5.00 for drinks. We will never go back there. I never Yelp (maybe 3-4 times, ever) and I knew as soon as I left I would comment here! read more

I enjoyed Polo's food, but the service was awful, and from Polo himself. I had a meeting with two friends of mine there today on my lunch break after they had already eaten elsewhere. I was the only one eating in the party of three and ordered from the lunch menu which said my meal would be $7 and change. After drinking water my bill came out to be $17! They charged an extra $7 to MY bill because the two I were meeting with were seen eating a chip. THE CHIPS AND SALSA THAT I DID NOT EVEN ASK FOR AND ARE COMPLIMENTARY! After going back and forth they refused to remove the $7 chip that my friend ate. I will not be going back here. read more

We literally just walked out of this place like 10 mins ago and walked across the street to eat at a different place. Our service was great! The waitress was polite and friendly. However, upon receiving our food we knew it wasn't what we were expecting. The tamale was two pencil width and maybe 4 inches in length.. Clearly not as depicted in the picture of the plate in the menu. So we decided to pay for our food and walk but eat else where. The waitress went and got a manager or shift leader (I'm unsure) and she was beyond rude and demanded that we give her a reason for not wanting to eat the food when I explained that it was not what we expected. It's definitely far from traditional Mexican food. And it's over priced for the quality of food that you receive. Well, there is no quality in the food. I would never recommend this place to anyone. I've been a server, bartender, and a manager in the restaurant industry so her mannerism is inexcusable. We didn't ask for anything for free and were perfectly willing to pay for our unbeaten food but the way we were treated by someone in a higher position than the server is ridiculous.
