I ordered food for 200 people, two days before I was supposed to pick up, I realised the date was wrong in my mind and I actually need it a day before. The owner was very cooperative and he graciously adjusted. I was able to get the order a day before on the right time. He not only completed the order before time but gave me some extra food. The food was fresh, hot nicely packaged and absolutely delicious. He provided the disposable packaging and cutlery. Price was very reasonable. We've been there a few times. I know this business since they started. The food has been always delicious with great value. The customer service is great and the staff are usually friendly and helpful. The place is not very big so if it's busy, sitting options may be limited. Since the place is on Whyte, parking in general may be tricky and free parking may not be an option. I've been to POM Persian Grill a few times since they first opened and all my experiences have been very enjoyable. The server/cook was friendly and showed me what the skewers look like (perhaps due to my limited Persian cuisine experience). So it is a really skinny restaurant on Whyte ave that I have walked by so often. It is small. It looks fast foodish. It doesn't scream relaxing on Whyte Ave. But based on what was open on a Saturday at around noon (and that I don't like brunch) we decided to give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised. It is small. It isn't exactly a place you linger with a tea or a drink with. I noticed a lot of skip the dishes and I would recommend this. However the food was delicous. We ordered a number of dishes - Mirza Ghasemi - and appetizer made with eggplant, egg, garlic and seasoning, Gheymeh - yellow split peas, onon, cubed lamb and rice while my husband did the Shishlik - lamb with rice. Everything was delicous and flavourful. Our favourite was teh shishlik but everything I would eat again. And no doubt portions are huge Didn't love that it was served in take away containers. It cheapened the food. And the bread dried out quickly ...to quickly. But I would come back and explore what else they have to offer. read more

I've been ordering from POM for a few months now and this restaurant has quickly become my favorite in YEG! Their high quality food is always consistent. My go to order is the Dual KOOBIDEH Meal. I highly recommend getting an extra tomato with it! The meat is made with ground beef and lamb. It is served over rice with a fire roasted tomato, pickles and onions. It is also served with a delicious shallot dip. Everything that I've tried from POM has been amazing and I'm looking forward to visiting this restaurant in the near future! read more

Pretty good spot. mast o Khair is good paired with the kabobs. Kubideh, bargg kabob are pretty good choices with rice :)

Easily the best kabobs in the city. As soon as we entered the small restaurant, the cook put in new wood charcoals onto the fire, to get it ready for our order. My 9 year old loved the spectacle of the stoking fire, plus on a frigidly cold day, the warmth was perfect. We ordered two dishes and a salad to share between two adults and a child and it was the right amount, also the most cost effective. The dishes were a little pricey but probably makes sense for the business considering inflation? The kebabs were perfectly cooked - not dried out or overly charred. The grilled chicken breast was well cooked but not as flavourful as the beef and lamb kebabs. The rice was pretty with one type saffron coloured. The rice was light and fluffy, but needed some flavour. It was nice it came with some whipped butter. The grilled tomato included with the entree was a great. A good sweet and sour counterpoint to the juicy kebabs. read more

Mmm...Persian street food. One thing I love about living near Whyte Ave is the sheer amount of diverse cuisine you can find within a few blocks. If you like kebabs then you'll enjoy Pom. High quality kebabs, made to order over charcoal. We ordered the lamb and the chicken kebab, which comes with saffron rice and a roasted tomato. Delicious! Meat was nicely marinated with a wonderful charcoal flavour. We also ordered the flat bread with shallot dip (we used this for everything). To finish our meal, we ordered the saffron and pistachio ice cream. Really unique flavour...kind of sweet and salty, with subtle saffron floral notes. Not cheap (our kebab plate was $18), but their meat is high quality (beef is AAA Angus). read more

Well I was next door dropping of some knives to get sharpened and thought I'd stop in you know support local small businesses. Well it looks real nice inside pretty clean and they're doing there part in sanitizing the establishment. Looked at the menu and it's pretty well put together and nice pictures of the menu items to give you a good idea of what your getting I can respect that. Made my order steak kabaab and rice you know something somewhat familiar. Firstly the price was pretty pricey I mean $27 bucks for the plate of food 1 beverage and a tip. But I'm like ok supporting local food establishments I'll give them a pass they've had a tough few months. I get home to eat and well the meat was cooked hard like well done well done the animal died to give us nourishment and it's memory was desecrated further by this sacrilege. So I go for some rice and it's like the just took the rice threw it in a pot with no seasonings at all I mean nothing. Like I thought there would be some nice flavours but no, not even unsalted butter. Like yeah I couldn't even finish the "meal" to be perfectly honest. To say that this meal wasn't worth the money I paid for it would be a complete understatement. I love to eat and I love food but this one has me looking for some tummy medicine. I don't recommend it in my opinion they could possibly be having an off day but I won't be going back to find out. read more

I want to start off by saying that their kebabs or cooked over a wooden charcoal grill and are marinated to the point that they become an artform! The kebabs melts in your mouth, the races OK, the salad Shirazi and cucumber yogurt was phenomenal. It is a very small establishment so don't go there expecting to eat in if there's more than two customers already there. Overall it was some of the best kebab I've ever had and I would recommend it to anyone but I would ensure that there's a table for you before planning to eat there. My husband and I was visiting Edmonton, AB for a few days and since we both love cultural and food. I decided to look up Persian restaurants in Edmonton. Where we are from which is Vancouver have fantastic Persian restaurants. I found this place on yelp and decided to give it a try since it has pretty high reviews. The place is small but the food has BIG taste!!! This is 6/5 if I can give one more star!! First of all , the owners were really friendly and easy to chat with. There are Persians coming into this tiny place so it MUST be good! The space isn't fancy and it's more like a grab and go small place with some seats. For all the meat are juicy and rich in favour! The Persian steak and ground beef Kabob were amazing and mouth watering. The smoked eggplant mash with egg on the top were a must try with saffron rice!! I will say everything we tried were amazing and the meat were actually top quality meat ( as one of the owner said and I can tell you it's true!! ) I would say this tiny Persian place is better then any Persian restaurants my His and I tried in Vancouver area. They don't have big menu but everything they made, you can tell they made with care and skills!! They made all the meat the old fashion way with charcoal and grill the meat right on top of the charcoal! POM nails it. Quality wise, their kababs are second to none (haven't tried non-kabab dishes yet). All kababs are cooked on a charcoal grill. Furthermore, the portions are generous, and the price points are reasonable. It comes as no surprise that the management of POM was sourced from Toronto's premier Persian restaurant (Gilaneh). Note that the selling point of this place is not atmosphere; the staff are very friendly and make great conversation, but this is not a high-end sit-in restaurant. The way they manage orders sucks. When you order and want to pick it up at a certain time, it means time does matters for you, but your time does not matter for them. They totally missed your order and you still have to wait in there small shop, so they are making your order. read more

I was looking to try something more unique and this place definitely had it. I got the steak and sausage combo dish, very delicious and highly recommend it. I am in town for work and was heading towards Shoppers Drug Mart to get some cough drops as I was quite sick...on my way I noticed this Persian Restaruant and even though I did not feel like eating...who could resist Koobideh...I stopped in and from the get go the "owner"? or employee was rude and abrupt...he asked me for my order...with a deeply condescending tone...I ordered the two skewers of Koobideh. He then asked if I wanted any of the salads etc, I ordered mast khiar. He did come out and give my order , This was at close to 9 pm, there was another customer who came in who obviously knew the Employee and also ordered the Koobideh, asking him how he was doing etc. I unfortunatley asked the EE about cutlery and he grunted very rudely "WHAT?" , I repeated cutlery...knife and fork , at which he pointed towards the shelf to my side. I picked up the cutlery and left thinking what an ass he was, already kind of ruined my appetite for eating the damn food. I left to proceed onto the Shoppers Drug Mart...after about 15 min there, I walked back to my hotel as I was here for work for the week. I opened my food ready to eat and noticed the mast o khiar not in there, I called the restaurant knowing that there was a good chance it was closed, but the EE answered, I tried to explain what happened, and he kept say no, then he kept no koobideh, he was completely deflecting asking about the mast o khiar. I tried to explain that I was just there and had ordered the koobideh and mast o khiar, then he says no koobideh?!!! He said then that he doesn't understand English, so I asked him, "you don't understand English?"....to which he replied "no I don't understand English"...hmmm do you think he doesn't know English...after all I heard him talk to the other customer coming in right after me. It was only after I had to start yelling and telling him that I want my money back and that I will call the Police...that wow, he completely understood what I was saying...."oh ...you want mast o khiar or your money back?,....ok ok, I give you money back or mast o khiar, you come tomorrow. " To which I responded , oh so now you understand ? to which he replied YES... the guy is a complete jerk he doesn't know that I am persian , married to persian but I do not speak Farsi...I am completely disgusted with his disregard and disrespect for me as a buying customer and I know very well he was purposely rude and acting like an asshole to me, maybe because I didn't look good? I didn't look good, I was sick with a very bad cold, slight fever, and very tired from working while sick the past two days..I tried to eat the food and by now I had completely lost my appetite, I found the food awful tasting because of the extremely and horrible customer service! If it turns out he is the manager of the restaurant that is very shameful. I will be there tomorrow and I want my whole 20 dollars back , I wasted on this food and only because of this horrible service. I was actually excited to see this restaurant and was going to tell my husband and oh I will tell him about what service I recieved... This restaurant doesn't even deserve one star read more
