After not having a good line of communication with my previous clinic on First Hill, we took a break from fertility treatments. When we decided to start again, we trasnferred our records over to Poma and really appreciated the process. The online portal system worked well for us and the nurses are super quick to respond. All of the staff that we worked with, from front desk, blood draws, exams, retrieval, and transfers, were all very professional and patient with my questions. Sometimes the doctors were quick during a scan, but I always felt the nurses were available for clarification on questions. I appreciated that they are open everyday of the week, because they know that your cycle isn't going to align with a work week. Paying out of pocket seemed to be the only frustrating thing, as sometimes you get a bill for something that happened months ago. The online portal to pay is easy though, so no issues. Also, keep in mind that medications are always extra. Add about $5k to the amount they quote, but definitely use the online pharmacy and rebate programs they recommend. Ending with a pregnancy is a success in my book. read more

Was excited about this place because it had so many great reviews but I wish I would of payed more attention to the bad ones too... This isn't entirely their fault but I really wish it was more normalized to ask if it's ok to have a doctor of the opposite sex for your reproductive health care. Because I was uncomfortable to be thrown into a room for my consult with a male doctor. Not his fault, he was great and very professional... I just personally have a huge trauma issue with it and I would of appreciated being asked first out of curtesy because I'm sure there's millions of other woman with this request as well. Even though the male doctor I had was professional and very knowledgeable on everything... I told him twice I did not want to proceed with any treatment or testing at this time. And that my husband and I want to focus on his testing first as it was much easier and cheaper to do for now. But regardless of being asked twice in person, I was also email about it twice. Feels very pushy and weird. After my husband had his tests done it took 2.5 weeks, 4-5 phone unanswered phone calls, 2 voicemails and 1 portal message to get a response.... Absolutely not ok. And finally when they did upload his results to the portal (which is horrible to navigate btw)... it gave very vague information to where they told him he had to come in and make another appointment just for them to explain that he was fine.... Overall: - The client portal is so hard to use and not helpful at all. - the environment for me felt pushy and disrespectful - the communication between staff and client is HORRIBLE - completely disorganized staff This is a very vulnerable field of medicine. And as the client you HAVE to feel safe and comfortable with all the things that go along with fertility and reproductive care.... At the end of the day I did not feel that even slightly. Poma Fertility has made my egg donation process so smooth and has been so supportive throughout the whole way! This is the first clinic I've worked with and I'll never switch. I went through a lot of cramping leading up to my procedure but they made me feel so cared and loved for and even checked up on me afterwards. I already wrote a review (it was 3 stars) and now I have to change it to 1 star to say we're STILL getting random bills 11 weeks AFTER our baby has been born. Now we owe $733 for two services that "weren't in the package" we paid for out of pocket. It took 2 cycles and we've paid $50,000 (no insurance coverage and I'm too old to qualify for their guaranteed programs) and they are STILL billing us!! The trial transfer (which is where they basically make sure the transfer will work), 3D rendering of ultrasound (looking at an ultrasound) and some office visits were not included in the basic package. So yes, it worked, I have my baby boy in my arms, yet they are insanely greedy and want to make sure I'm completely BROKE because they helped me give him life. So take whatever number Poma Fertility tells you it will cost to get your baby and then DOUBLE it. That's the real price. Overall the nurses were nice, the doctors were okay and the communication is good IF you highly depend on the app. There are a lot of important decisions you need to make and you need to make them quickly. There isn't much help or direction. Do your best and do your research. Slow the nurses down and ask them all of your questions. If you don't have fertility coverage on your insurance than god help you. read more

STAY AWAY from POMA! It's the used car lot of egg banks. They fertilize eggs with the wrong sperm. Their egg donors test positive for hepatitis. The egg bank coordinator will sell your reserved eggs to someone else and take no responsibility. The embryology staff will give devastatingly incorrect results. The PA acts like a huffy middle schooler and will rudely blame everything on you. The CEO has no integrity and unprofessionally focuses on herself. I wish I had the time and energy to sit outside POMA with a billboard and bullhorn to warn patients. Please save your sanity, your fertility years and your money. My husband and I felt comfortable through this whole process due to the outstanding Doctors, Nurses and staff. POMA and its staff are amazing!! Long story short, my wife and I are pregnant with a healthy baby boy!! That being said, so much work went into getting us where we are today. From handling all aspects of insurance coverage, to scheduling and promptly holding appointments, the administrative staff were amazing!! Drs Beasley and Opsahl were both very professional and helped us throughout the process. They were also gracious with their time and scheduled a couple virtual appointments so we could be best prepared. Lastly, Nurse Linda Alexander was absolutely our guardian angel! Her knowledge and experience proved incredibly valuable, and in my opinion, we would have never persevered through the ups and downs without her sage advice and caring heart. On more than one occasion, she managed to ensure the facilities were available to us as we had some very time sensitive issues to deal with; during the time of a pandemic, mind you. If you are looking to feel anxious, confused and generally upset during your IVF process, I would definitely recommend Poma Fertility. The extra star is because IVF worked for us! The thing I am most excited about, second to being pregnant, is not having to do IVF with Poma Fertility ever again. Please do your research and compare Poma to how others communicate and set expectations through this process. This is something I failed to do. Communication: After we paid Poma, I felt we became a number in their extremely full bucket of clients. ALL communication is restricted to an extremely clunky patient messaging portal, which is a terrible, out of date experience. Many of the messages I sent them early on would not get answered at all. Sometimes multiple people would answer them, with varying responses.. super confusing. They would say they'd call and never did. More than once they sent me instructions to take a medication starting the next morning but when I went to the pharmacy to get it would find out they never called it in. On desperate occasions I'd call the front desk begging to speak to a nurse, they would get annoyed and tell me to send a portal message. I actually wasn't going to write a review at all, but the final straw was when we asked them to keep the gender a secret from us but they sent us an unmarked card announcing it was a boy.. Education & expectation setting: IVF is a scary and unknown process and Poma keeps the process very vague. I understand a lot can change at the last minute within the process, but they should tell clients that from the start. There is no advanced education about how to give yourself the shots, which added stress to the process. I had 5 different medications with different needles sitting on my counter and no idea on how to use them and had never given myself a shot. I don't think I am an uptight person but that feeling is pretty overwhelming. I spent a lot of time googling things Poma should have educated me on. I used YouTube videos I found by myself on how to administer the shots in my abdomen. On one occasion, a very kind nurse showed me how to do the shots when I brought the medication into Poma and I realized I had been doing it wrong.. Costs: The last issue is the lack of transparency with costs. Poma comes off like they make this clear but they really don't. My husband and I ended up paying double than what their website states. Their various options sound straightforward, but be warned they are not. Many times at the last minute I would realize I needed to order more medication (the cost is 5K each time). To say something positive, the doctors there are wonderful. Megan was a joy to be with each time and was helpful. I think they really need more focused staff to communicate. After a devastating, cancelled IVF cycle at a different clinic in Bellevue who told me I would most likely have to use donor eggs to get pregnant, I came to Poma for a second opinion. 4 months later I am pregnant with my own eggs and have 3 genetically viable frozen embryos from my very FIRST IVF cycle at Poma! Dr. Opsahl, Dr. Wiemer and his team are miracle workers. The staff and nurses are all incredible. You can tell that each of them truly loves and deeply cares about what they do, they are in the process with you every step of the way. You don't get that at other clinics. Infertility has so many emotional ups and downs, appointments, questions that come up, prescriptions and paperwork to fill out. It can be exhausting and confusing but Poma made everything so seamless and easy to navigate. I am moved to tears thinking about the care they have provided my wife and I over the past few months! I, too, started at a different clinic in Seattle, and came over to Poma for more affordable pricing, good reviews, AND free parking!! From Meagan, the PA, and the nurses, to the incredibly technically gifted Dr. Opsahl, and the enthusiastic, kind, and impressively educated embryologist Dr Weimer, you will realize you made the right choice right away. Every procedure was painless and they were there for me every step of the way, through both the triumphs and frustrations. They helped me get pregnant instantly with IVF after many many failed attempts of IUI at a different clinic. The nurses and staff answered my numerous questions quickly and without judgment all the time! I even had a total breakdown with my injections on day 1, and at 6:40 in the morning, my nurse, Amy, had 12 bottles of saline and extra needles/syringes available to me right away at the front desk to remedy the situation, no questions asked or cost accrued. We found success in our first IVF cycle at Poma after a devastating failed cycle at another clinic. Hard not to give 5 stars for that alone! But more importantly, I felt treated like a human being instead of a statistic by every single Poma employee - the physicians, embryologists, nurses, phlebotomists, finance team, and the people at the front desk. The very first time I called to make an appointment, I was deciding between two clinics. JoLeigh picked up the phone and responded with such compassion and validation that I knew Poma was the place for me. Drs Beesley and Opsahl work together, so you'll probably see them both, but Dr. Beesley managed the majority of my care. He is honestly one of the best medical providers I've ever had - warm, responsive, respectful, accessible. He clearly thoroughly reviewed the medical records from our previous cycle before our first Zoom meeting, and already had a number of creative ideas for us. I had a really good experience with POMA. Our initial consultation with Dr. Opsahl was thorough and Dr. Beesley was great during the retrieval... he made us feel v.comfortable. Most of the nurses are stellar. Relying on only a portal for communicating with nurses and doctors was difficult at first since I would have so many questions and sometimes urgent, but for most part I got my replies within 24 hrs... So I just had to get used to it. 99% of my appointments were on time, quick and super efficient. read more

I recently had an experience with POMA (as a surgical center) for an egg freeze cycle, so sharing my experience with them in that capacity. POMA was basically the site for my surgery, and was the team that froze the eggs. The ACTUAL surgery was performed by another doctor from another clinic (which I am keeping private for the time being). As for my actual experience with the POMA staff though, they were fantastic. My doctor experience (the person who actually did the surgery, and was NOT affiliated with POMA in any capacity) wasn't great, but that's totally unrelated to POMA, and is a separate issue unrelated to them and to this review. The POMA pieces of my experience were actually the ones that were awesome. Parking was easy and free, right under the building. When I arrived, the check-in was done with military precision, basically no wait at all. The front staff got me back to the surgical area super quickly and I met my nurse. I can't say enough about how awesome my POMA nurse was, he was accommodating, kind, supportive, everything a nurse should be. He got an IV into me and I was super impressed with how carefully he choose the vein, he was a pro. He was friendly, professional, and supportive. I believe the anesthesiologist I had was also POMA staff, but not 100% sure, regardless, he was extraordinary, professional, kind and amazing. When I was home and starting to recover from my surgery, the embryologist who froze my eggs called, and he was ALSO phenomenal. I was so pleased with how knowledgeable and helpful he was in explaining the final results to me, and his perspective and advice about the results was not only fascinating but easily understandable. He was awesome, and I really enjoyed speaking with him, he explained things to me extremely thoroughly, and was kind and also asked how I was doing after my surgery. I even learned a little bit about the history of egg freezing, and was extremely, extremely impressed with him. In retrospect, I wish I had chosen POMA for my egg freezing cycle and to do the actual surgery, every single interaction I had with them that day (and it was a VERY intense day), was top-notch. They were outstanding to me on a very difficult day, and if I do egg freezing a second time, they will be front-runners as my choice for the entire process. read more

My wife and I chose Poma simply based off of the location, and that their website acknowledged the LGBTQ community directly-nothing more. And it turned out to be the best decision we have ever made. Every staff member became such a pivotal component to our journey, and each one of them treated us like family from the very beginning. With two egg retrieval's, followed by a fresh transfer, we were incredibly fortunate to get pregnant after our first IVF attempt, and are anxiously anticipating the arrival of our daughter within the next 5 weeks!! We literally could not have created our family without the incredible staff at Poma, and we already look forward to getting back over there to say 'hello' in the near future! Where do i begin?! A little over a year ago, we walked into POMA and met with Dr. Opsahl after 4 years of frustration, acupuncture, IUI, and 2 other clinics (PNWF, SRM). What blew us away was the personal attention that Dr. Opsahl gave us. He met with us on the first day, explained everything we needed to know about IVF, answered all our questions and was there for us every step of the way. His approach was much personal than the other clinics. We proceeded with IVF as this was our last option and Dr. Opsahl was very upfront and honest about our chances which was just okay. But what amazed me (and what I needed at the time), was how positive he was without being unrealistic. Long story short, we were one of the lucky ones and with POMA's help, my wife and I got pregnant, with twin baby boys thru our first round of IVF. They are now 6 months old, healthy, happy, thriving and we absolutely could not be happier and more grateful to POMA. We love Dr. Opsahl and his staff!!! We started our care at Seattle Reproductive Medicine, and I just didn't connect with my doctor (she was very clinical) and didn't feel like we were getting individual treatment. It was like we were one of thousands being treated. Dr. Opsahl is the complete opposite. His bedside manner is superb and he makes you feel like you are his one and only patient with individual attention and treatment that is tailored to your situation. He answered all my questions/concerns about IVF. We ended up going through IVF and getting pregnant with twins and lost one of the babies. Even though I'm sure he sees it all the time, he was still very compassionate and acknowledged our sadness and loss. We had our son in January and are very thankful to Poma for making this miracle happen!! Save yourself the hassle of interviewing fertility doctors and go with Poma! They are the best! POMA is an excellent facility. Both the doctors- Dr.Beesely and Dr.Opsahl as well as all the nurses are great. They respond very quickly to messages and questions and are very thourough. I have tried Overlake as well, but found that the medications they put me on did not suit me- i felt extreme anxiety, palpitations etc on their protocol. Also, it took longer because they would put new patients in like a batch and start them together to match their cycles. But POMA on the otherhand was very fast and I didn't have any anxiousness, or side effects from the protocol they put me on. They explained truthfully what our chances for success were( it wasn't great), but still we were able to get successful with our very first transfer of a single embryo! I am so so grateful to them. Poma is wonderful, as is every single human being who works there -- I recommend them in the strongest possible terms to anyone in the greater Seattle area who needs an RE. The first and foremost measurement for a lot of people is, of course, "Did you actually get pregnant?" ... And the answer here is a resounding yes. After four consecutive losses each ending before 6wks, I'm finally 24.5wks along with a single healthy baby boy and have graduated to a low-risk prenatal care provider. :) Beyond that, the biggest and most important thing to me was that every single, solitary person there, from the receptionists to the nurses to the finance folks to the embryologist to the doctor himself genuinely *cared* about our personal experience and our outcomes. Even when I stopped in unannounced, everyone was happy to see me, addressed me by name, and remembered where we were/what we were doing. Their personal care and attention is absolutely unparalleled. We never, ever felt like they were trying to "upsell" us on anything (despite recommending that we proceed directly to IVF), and they did their best to save us as much money as possible -- unlike what I've heard of some of the larger clinics, my husband and I were never made to feel like ambulatory wallets. And the finance people view it as their sacred mission to beat up your insurance company until they cough up what they agreed to -- I never once had to make that much-dreaded call to the insurance company to straighten things out. The nurses are extremely competent, responsive, and very, very caring. From silly questions to medication refills to clarifications on medical instructions, they're absolutely there for you, 100% of the way, and they never made me feel stupid for having to ask simple questions. And they always, ALWAYS got me lab results in a very timely fashion -- nearly invariably same-day. And, of course, Dr Opsahl is amazing. He's very gentle in all the procedures and very understanding -- and is VERY willing to work with you and individualize everything about your care plan, up to and including trying new things that aren't the usual (e.g. combining an IVF retrieval and an FET in the same cycle, and allowing me not to use PIO injections because I have serious problems with needles). I could not be happier with them, and when we're ready for another baby, we'll definitely be going back! read more

After 3 years of trying, my husband and I decided to visit POMA for our fertility treatment. The entire team at POMA is just amazing - starting from the scheduling of appointments, the smile on the receptionists faces when we enter the clinic, blood draws and results, and/or instantly replying to every message that we sent through the portal. Dr Ophasal, Dr. Wiemer and Dr.Megan are extremely nice. The entire team know how to calm us down through the entire stressful IVF process - they made it so smooth for us. The finance team is great - They laid down the entire treatment cost before we started our treatment - and we never had any surprises with our bills throughout the process. The nurses are so sweet and caring... They made sure all my answers were replied in person or through the portal. Their portal and the app is great!! everything you need to know 'bout the treatment, is there on the portal. I like how the entire team at POMA is so straightforward and honest with everything. After our second attempt through ICSI, we got pregnant, and at ~8-9 weeks, my husband and I got promoted to our OBGYN. A super bitter sweet moment... POMA had become a routine and family for us. I waited a while to write a review but decided it would be necessary for others to know my experience. From the first consult with POMA I had nothing but amazing things to say. They were so caring so understanding and so prompt. Going into this I knew there is no guarantee but I expected outstanding and caring service I received from the start to carry on with me till the very end regardless of the outcome of my IVF cycle. Well that was not the case. I can say that basically the minute after transfer all of their care went out the door. Nurse didn't even come talk to us minutes after transfer. We just stayed in the room confused and not sure what to do so we just left. There were zero instructions zero communication at the clinic after transfer. I was expecting a nurse would come talk to us in post op just to give me simple info although there's not much to do after transfer but still ... felt like a few words from them would of been nice before we just walked out of there confused. After that day I truly felt like I was just a number to them. The significant drop in patient care and attention was very clearly felt. My cycle was a complete fail. We were also left with zero embryos. Please understand my negative review would have been positive if I received same good care up until the very end. But that was not the case. POMA completely left me disappointed. While I know success of ivf is not in their full control I do know that excellent care and service to every single patient IS in their control. It was a huge disappointment to see zero care from nursing staff. A few days ago I spoke to their billing because I had outstanding balance from my beta test and Rachel was really rude on the phone which just basically topped it all off for me. read more

I have had a wonderful experience with Poma from the time I called to make my appointment to the time I visited the office. The staff has been very welcoming and friendly to me- from the receptionist, to the financial assistant and to Dr. Opshal. I felt that Dr. Opshal really helped me understand the process and explain what I needed to know, but at the same time didn't overwhelm me. Poma touts itself as affordable and I have to agree with this. My insurance covers absolutely nothing for fertility related needs and I'm glad to see that Poma works with you to give you different payment options, and I'm surprised that they refund options available as well. The office keeps up communication amazingly well, both through the phone and their e-system. We will be starting the TTC process soon and so far I couldn't be happier with this office. read more

We absolutely love Dr. Opsahl- he's the best! Really wish he could be our 'our person' for all medical needs. It took several attempts to get pregnant, and a year later it happened! The office staff are friendly. Added bonus of a smaller office is that when you check in they know your name and no formal "My name is..". Also, Poma has the best prices for this area (including Seattle). On a minor downside... Scheduling at times was difficult. This practice does transfers every other month, which really stretched things out. However, the office has grown and maybe this is no longer current practice. I went to POMA because my OB refereed me to go there a few months ago. My sister urged me not to go to POMA because she went there a few years ago and the Dr. told her she had less than 1% chance of getting pregnant due to her high FSH levels and he would be basically working for free if he took her on. He told her this 3 days before Christmas leaving her devastated, and has always refereed to him as Dr. Doomsday! She now has 2 healthy boys she was able to conceive through IVF. IVF is so expensive so I went there anyway because it seemed like the most affordable place to go so I didnt listen to her. I really wish I had. I did my labs at POMA and while I was on vacation I received am email telling me I have high FSH levels and based off this test my chance of getting pregnant was less than 1% even though IVF and my options are donor egg or adoption...VIA EMAIL!!!! No phone call..my Fiancee and I canceled our wedding in January we were so devastated by the new. I'm not sure if I will be able to conceive or not, but the bedside manor at POMA is ridiculous. I truly believe they wont take high risk patients so they can keep their success rates up. Since then I have seen a new Dr at SRM who seems so much more positive and confident that I will conceive my own child with my own eggs. I am so relieved with the good news but so pissed off at POMA for leaving me so sad and desperate over the past month. Very disappointed with Poma Fertility's refusal to forward my medical records to my new clinic. They said they legally didn't have to because I was seen for "outside monitoring". They charged me over a thousand dollars for a follicle count and a couple blood tests. Whatever you do, don't go here for outside monitoring. read more

My husband and I have been doing IVF for two years, and Poma changed our lives. We were previously at a clinic where we had three unsuccessful egg retrievals and paid about $65k for it. We switched to Poma which was the best decision we have ever made. Our first egg retrieval with Poma we got 10 genetically viable embryos, and on our first transfer from those 10 we got pregnant. They know how to work with insurance; I remember receiving only one bill from them and it was totally reasonable. Dr Opsahl is the best at what he does and a good listener. I couldn't trust him and his staff more. Dr Wiemer called us everyday on the phone during our egg retrieval process and clearly loves what he does (that's what you want!). The nurses, especially Jessi and Jasmine, have become like family. They are immensely supportive and answer all my questions through the portal within 3 hours. And they are really good at drawing blood - which makes a big difference in quality of life! Appointments are easy to schedule and always on time. I Love POMA, if i have friends who go through infertility, i would suggest them go to poma, no shopping around, poma is the best, even you living pretty far away, it still worthy of all that drive, i living in Puyallup btw, and poma is located at Kirkland. at the first, when i thinking about that drive, it kind of scare me a little, but when i start to doing it, it wasn't that bad at all. here is what i been through: after about a year of trying to have a baby, we were run out of luck, thought fertility clinic should give us more help. so we found SRM at first, it was a terrible experience, i wasn't happy at all with them, i felt like i was a "thing" on the production line, barely see the doctor, majority of the time all nurses who dealt with me, don't mention how they pushed me on the bill, it wasn't like i don't pay, i was just can't pay them in one time, in my mind, people who working in this field should have known how stressful for the patients, it is very hard on our body and mind. anyway i felt pressure and every time i go in there i felt depressed. so we made decision to change to another clinic. This is the point we found the Poma. PROS: staff were very nice and helpful, one of the nurse whose first name is Ann****, i dont want to put her full first name in here, i wasn't sure she care or not, but just in case, she is the best, i LOVE her, she was so nice and kind to me, no matter how busy she was, she will spend time with me and go through everything, and make sure i dont have any issues, wonderful human being. Dr. Opsahl is excellent, he attended every appointment that we had, gave us the best suggestions and advises. you wont feel being rushed, they always tried to treat you with respect and answer all your questions. don't mention their prices, it definitely the best in the area. they use portal as the media, between the Dr., financial services, nurses and patients, you can contact everyone you like majority the time, when you have questions, you can just send them a message with portal, most of time they can response you pretty quick, if you call them and leave a VM, emmmmm, they are not very good of response quick on that, so i use portal all the time when i was a poma patient which was working great. We stayed with Poma about 5 months and now i am about 2 months pregnant, we used their poma care program, it like a package. which was a pretty good deal, especially if you are struggle with infertility, it is definitely a better choice, CONS: not crazy about Ruth, one of the ladies that working at the front desk, she can be cold time to time, one of the nurse wasn't that great, forgot her name, she can give you wrong infor sometimes, but, honestly, i am not complaining, nobody is perfect, anyway, overall, poma is a great place to come and i am really appreciated how was i being treated. if one day i make decision to expend my family again, i will come back to poma with no doubt in my mind!! read more

Our experience with Poma was outstanding. At every step of the way, we felt like we received top quality care and sound advice. Dr. Opsahl and Dr. Wiemar are an impressive team who combine their individual expertise to make a successful and effective team. Their decisions were always based on sound data and current research. We felt confident with the recommendations that they made to us regarding treatment, and we felt that, because of their recommendations, we saved ourselves a lot of money, time, and heartbreak by not pursuing treatment options that did not have a good chance of success. We got pregnant after our first round of ICSI. The process of going through fertility testing and treatments is incredibly stressful, but the entire staff at Poma made the whole experience feel personal and manageable. We never felt like we were just a number - in fact, we were really sad to leave after we got pregnant! We wish we could stay with them for the entire pregnancy! The nurses, in particular, were outstanding. They were very knowledgeable and easy to communicate with, and they were all warm and friendly. They made us feel relaxed and comfortable throughout a process that is very sensitive. They're also excellent at all of the technical aspects of nursing - going through ICSI requires a lot of blood drawing, and I never once experienced pain or bruising. I always felt that I was in good and competent hands. The nurses also helped us to find cheaper options for the medications that we had to order, and, in doing so, we saved a good bit of money. The finance team also was terrific, and they calmly and kindly helped us to navigate all of the confusing health insurance billing. The entire operation at Poma is very professionally and tactfully done. We hardly ever waited more than 5 minutes to get into a room. Parking is free and convenient, and the location felt discreet. I wish zero stars was an option!! I have had nothing but issues with this place. We went here because of the low cost, but what we got was low quality. The doctor was extremely condescending and I felt as though he was often putting us down. The office staff were friendly some of the time, but only if you caught them on a good day. While in the waiting room, I often heard gossip going on behind the counter and some of the things being said were very inappropriate for the work place. There was so much confusion with our case that I often wondered if they even kept records. Getting fertility help is an already stressful and sensitive subject, and they didn't help me feel at ease at all. The only reason we stayed with them as long as we did was because there were a few amazing nurses that genuinely seemed to care about us. read more

After 14+ years, 5 fertility clinics, hope, sadness, money, envy, hatred, frustration, glimmer of hope and soon after grief, we found Poma Fertility! I did plenty of research of clinics in WA and it paid off! We both felt very comfortable with Dr. Opsahl and his staff which is a big deal when you go thru this type of treatment since it can be so emotional, etc. I am now 11 weeks and we are so, so, so excited (and still can't believe it)! My wife and I started IVF with Poma in Oct/Nov 2019. Everything was fine and decent, from the initial consultant to the payment up front (we had insurance, so we have to pay upfront, the rest they will credit us back once claimed has been made after the procedure). The waiting on the phone was a while, and the communication, follow up was slow, but that's okay. We started our IVF in Oct 2020, finger cross, however the IVF fail. We were sad, but we continued with our life and move on. POMA sent multiple claims to both my wife and I insurances (we had dual insurances). Time went by, 12 months later, we still did not get our credit back. During the 12 months we call the POMA, even volunteer to help POMA by calling both insurances to expedite the claims review. POMA kept making mistake on the claim, sending it 2x, not having the right medical code and not replying back on time, resulting in us not having our credit back. It's bad that we fail the IVF but also not doing your job right and giving us back our money. This was unacceptable!!! As of today 11/10, my insurance is telling me they just sent in another claim on 11/5/2020, the service was one year ago, and they still sending in claim. Can you believe it?!?!?!? This tells me they don't know what they're doing, bad business and they will STEAL your money. If you have a baby with them, great, but if you don't, and they owe you money, you can forget about it. I have called the BBB and file a claim with them. My advice, go somewhere else where they not only care for you and not make you wait or get back to you on time, but also care for you financially. IVF is expensive, not everyone could afford it. We took it out of our savings to have it, but we didn't get it. :-( read more

Before heading to this office I'd recommend seeing a fertility specialist who can look in the reasons why you and your partner are unable to get pregnant on your own. We went here and the doctor and nurses were nice enough, but after ordering a round of testing and saying everything was fine and we were healthy they immediately put us on the IUI\IVF conveyer belt without giving us any reason why this was the next best option. My gut told me to wait and that same cycle we got pregnant for the first time one our own, which unfortunately miscarried. Only after the third miscarriage did we discover through genetic testing about a blood disorder that we have no problem getting pregnant, but that keeping the pregnancy is the difficulty. Dr Opsahl totally skimmed past any testing that would have told us this earlier despite us asking for it. It's clear that Poma Fertility is a money making endeavor first and foremost. Before shelling out thousands or tens of thousands of dollars for IUI or IVF that might not work for you, I'd suggest you look into the root causes of your infertility elsewhere, since POMA clearly will not. I even asked Dr Opsahl about autoimmune and clotting disorders in our first consultation (which it turns out I do have!) and he politely laughed in my face and told me that it was more than likely not the problem and that he would just recommend IUI. Neither my partner nor I felt like anyone was taking us seriously at POMA. I know people come here because so many other fertility centers have that factory feel, but I have to say that this place felt exactly like that--an IUI and IVF factory, and I've been to SRM as well for and HSG. read more

My husband and I were previously being seen at another fertility clinic and left their care (if one can call it "care") in favor of working with Poma. We went to Poma for the low, low prices and stayed for the exceptional service. The nursing staff at Poma is second-to-none! They are warm and caring. I empathize with their position as they must, at times, deal with patients who are disappointed, sad, grieving, or even angry, yet, despite all that, the staff maintain a positive and friendly attitude. That's really quite an admirable feat. Nursing staff respond to both phone and email questions promptly and never behave as though they are being put upon when asked what is likely a question they've heard hundreds of times before. Dr. Opsahl is a skilled professional who I trusted to be a capable partner in our journey to pregnancy. My trust was well-placed. He and the nursing team selected an IVF drug protocol that yielded exceptional results and I truly felt I was in good hands throughout the entire IVF process. Dr. Wiemer, the embryologist, and his team, kept us apprised of our embryos' development and explained their part of the process to us as if I weren't the 200th patient to whom they'd explained the very same thing. They were genuinely kind, showed us they had a vested interest in our success, and I felt as though, in their care, our embryos were getting the best chance they could to develop successfully. I'm in the "advanced maternal age" category. As a result of the Poma team's efforts, we are pregnant. Poma is an option to be seriously considered. UPDATE: I birthed our beautiful baby boy in spring 2015. He's, of course and in my wholly unbiased opinion, perfect in every way. :) We introduced our newborn son to the Poma team shortly after his birth and thanked them for helping us to build our family. My wife and I have been trying to get pregnant for a while now. We went to another clinic (SRM) and our experience there were so-so. We tried IUI on two occasions and both times were not successful. Both my wife and I felt SRM was just there to take our money and was not very interested in us being successful. Luckily my wife's friend recommended POMA to us. Once we met Dr. Opsahl, we knew this was the place for us. We told him about our past failures and he was very comforting. We proceeded with IVF as both my wife and I were not happy with our past experience with IUI. Dr. Opsahl was very upfront and honest about our chances which was just okay. But what amazed me (and what both my wife and I needed at the time), was how positive he was without being unrealistic. Every visit we did, we were treated with respect and care. They really wanted us to be successful in our attempts to get pregnant. Dr. Opsahl was always there for us at every visit, not like SRM where we never saw the Dr. after the initial visit. Wow. The lady I spoke with on the phone was short with me, and rude. I felt like I was bugging her by calling. My husband and I need IVF, and have been trying now for a child 3 years. We have the cash for IVF, and I was ready to schedule but this lady gave me a sick feeling in my stomach. IVF and infertility is a very hard, emotional rollercoaster ride, and I would hope everyone at these clinics would be warm and welcoming, which she was NOT. I will not be calling them back. I don't really understand why we had such a horrible experience here. I know that If my workplace operated in this fashion we would be shut down in a heart beat and people would not tolerate it. We had a nurse who was so completely incompetent that I had to request she be nowhere involved in our process. She not only messed up our medication trigger shot schedule and then proceeded to not finish the medical records about it and watched as the doctor grilled me on why the cycle wasn't finished, she also told me they wouldn't request my medical records and test results until I received all the testing they wanted when I had already completed most of it but they wouldn't request the records to see what I completed in the first place, and she also proceeded to tell me that my husband like all men were liars and masturbated and wouldn't tell us they were doing it because they didn't think it mattered or didn't care. Do you think that after years of trying and him not caring we would spend this kind of money to get here for him to lie about it? I would call and leave messages and never get called back but I did see it was written in my records that someone supposedly called and had entire conversations with me- completely impossible as I am not available by phone during the day and I request voicemails are left. This same nurse apparently didn't note my allergies in my chart and I did wind up in urgent care after an IUI with a nice infection that the doctor said was likely secondary to the allergic reaction and swelling. It seemed like the IUI nurses were a separate team than the IVF nurses. The IVF team seems to care and are competent individuals who were willing to discuss things (like when the handouts were different than the instructions given) and didn't treat me like a moron. They don't mail billing so be prepared to be handed a bill while standing there with a full bladder or barely awake and being asked to pay a few thousand dollars. And yes, they will do this every single time even if you are in three times in a week. Some receptionists are amazing! One gal is rude and unprofessional, it was pretty clear how she felt about me. After 5 IUI's (two of which weren't completed because of either not responding after I told them I felt I wasn't responding or the above mentioned medication trigger shot timing error) she handed my husband a bill and when he asked to pay half she said she couldn't do that and to just pay it all at once, I was standing next to him. My next visit I was handed the same bill and when I responded with the afore mentioned interaction I was given a disgusted look like I was stupid and was told that it never happened. I became concerned that I wasn't responding as well to cycles and I felt brushed off. In fact we felt brushed off a lot. It really made both my husband feel like they were seeing as many patients as possible and didn't have time for us. Our IVF cycle was rough. You get a huge document that talks about how you should be prepared to die. I get it, you have to disclose this but it was terrifying. I never wanted to get to IVF but I wanted to have a family. What you aren't prepared for is everything failing. I went into it with a feeling that it just wasn't going to work. It was an incredibly painful process, something I was afraid would happen. It actually took me two weeks to be able to feel the urge to urinate again and I put on 10-15# of weight in my belly afterwards- I could feel my belly shake when I walked, it was uncomfortable and painful. The day after retrieval we received a call that something was abnormal and the doctor would call us. No one called. We would later call and brief who ever answered on what was going on and they would agree it was odd and put us on hold then come back and tell us we would be called back, no calls. After a few days of no answers and I was due to start medications to prepare for transfer we called and we're finally told none of the eggs would be transferred and we needed to make an appointment in a few weeks to discuss it. My work schedule wouldn't allow my more time off after all the time I had just taken off and moved other people's schedules to accommodate the IVF. Long story short my husband came back with a photograph of a computer monitor with a page that was created prior to speaking to my husband that says no eggs were fertilized and that four(?) eggs were fertilized, that 14/16 eggs were immature and five eggs were mature, and that all my husband's questions were answered before he had even gone in for the consultation. My husband came home with the understanding that it was normal for women to be severly painful when they have to urinate and that urinating resolves this pain. We were also told that they didn't have time to repeat another cycle with us for five more months and it really was confusing if there was any hope. We really wish we had been given options to test or do ICSI on any of these eggs. read more
