I received a pomegranate inn gift certificate as a gift and was excited to get away for a weekend! I was told upon booking I could not use the gift certificate for booking and that a deposit of $200 was needed to be taken from my credit card that would later be refunded to my card upon the completion of my stay. At the time of my stay I was disappointed to learn a live check would be mailed to me instead of receiving a refund to my card as previously agreed upon. But I accepted a $30 future credit as a kind gesture for the inconvenience. Flash forward 4.5 months. It has been since 02/16 that I checked out of the hotel and I am still out $190. I am so confused as to why there were so many check envelope "returns" from my correct address that I confirmed multiple times and received mail to daily. I have now been following up twice, or more, a month since March and no word on my refund. I know COVID has a lot of businesses backed up, which was their excuse back in MAY, But this is issue pre dates COVID closures and should have been a priority refund due to the timing. If I had received a refund to my card like promised initially then the checks would have never been returned in the first place. This is frustrating to have to continuously reach out and not have any updates or follow through. Also, very unhappy that I am the one constantly following up and no one is reaching out other than responding to me emails stating they'll check on things again. Very unreliable and disappointing, won't be staying at a lark in the future. In response to what the manager has commented below. This has nothing to do with my address change. I have been in contact with your managers since March about this issues and happened to move late June. I received several notifications saying that it was sent in the mail and then returned to you. For 4 months my address was perfectly deliverable. I don't believe it was ever sent. Period. And by your managers have been in contact with me do you mean respond to my email once and then follow up about a new check being sent? Because that's what's been happening. I am happy to screen shot my emails and share on yelp as well. Your apology is not an apology. You are trying to refocus the blame. Pathetic leadership and management skills. Terrible customer service.

Day 1: I have not been here less than an hour and love this place. The assistant manager Sophia was just a wonderful cheery person, great customer service. I can't wait for breakfast; they are gluten aware. Day 2: Breakfast was great, smoked Gouda omelette with gluten free bread. The surrounding area is beautiful. Day 3: Breakfast again was fantastic, the two inn keepers are wonderful people and do an incredible job here. Thank you for a wonderful experience. PS you should keep more bacon on hand.

We stayed in this bed & breakfast place when we travelled to Portland, Maine last year. (yes, i know, long overdue review). This B&B is in a rather residential area. The whole neighborhood contains east-coast styled and red-brick structured houses, which looks quite historic and charming. We instantly fell in love with the neighborhood. When we walked into the B&B, we knew we made the right decision choosing this place. It was just so neat and lovely. All the detailing in the house indicated this is a house with history and stories. It was nicely maintained. The decoration looked very warm and cozy. All the small things on the desk, on the shelf, or on the ground caught our attention. It was not difficult to notice the display of pomegranate ornaments everywhere. We checked in late. The person who stayed there for the afternoon shift was nice enough to wait for our arrival before she took off for the day. She brought us to our room, which was again quite charming. I felt like I went to a flamboyant fantasy room back in time. In the morning, there was a cook who came in to prepare us breakfast. We were sitting in this beautiful dining room with other guests. The breakfast was quite tasty. The service was quite accommodating, too. This place is like a gem hidden in a small and quite l town. I wish I can go back there again if chance permitted.

Sadly, I cannot recommend this Inn. We recently stayed there for our anniversary. We have given the management of the Inn more than enough opportunity to respond to our complaints and we've heard nothing. I feel a responsibility to let people know that the Inn is simply not up to it's price point (over $300/night). Like the reviewer earlier, we too, stayed in the carriage house (the previous reviewers complained about this a year ago and, clearly nothing was done to remedy). The room was below our expectations - in particular the bathroom. The bathroom is old, tile is cracked and grout in shower was moldy. The shower has a very cheap plastic shower curtain, again, completely inappropriate for the price point. Overall, the Inn needs a refresher. I am sure it's not the product they want to present to the public. The fact that we haven't heard from Lark Hotels management (Pomegranate is among this boutique chain) is indicative that they must not care...and it shows in the maintenance of the Inn! On a positive note, the staff at the property was lovely.

Cheese souffle with candied bacon, outstanding!

They also used to provide shuttle service to/from the airport but that's not available anymore. The Union restaurant being part of the hotel is a huge plus- absolutely amazing restaurant that deserves a high praise review of its own. Morning coffee is free but you can also buy iced coffee and little breakfast items, like scones, from the lobby bar. The rooms are clean and there wasn't any disturbing sounds from neighbors. The only complaint would be that it's a challenge to get the temperature right - both on the faucet and shower. First world problems but cmon- this isn't what I'd expect from a highly rated hotel. Water is $6 per bottle if you get it in the room. So if you want to save there, go downstairs for free bottles and you can refill them near the lobby bathroom. Dogs are welcome! Nothing else to complain of- which is unusual for me, given how often I'm in a hotel (work trip on a monthly basis). That says a lot!

The clear standout was the bed -- easily one of the most comfortable hotel beds we've slept in recently. Great mattress, supportive yet plush, with high-quality linens that made for genuinely restful nights. That alone earns the hotel strong marks. The room itself was clean and functional, but the finishes felt more mid-tier than upscale. Even as a Hilton Diamond member who received a room upgrade, the views were still pretty ordinary and not particularly scenic. The hotel just doesn't seem to deliver strong views from the guest rooms. The main area where it fell short was value. The base rate already felt on the higher side, and then parking and breakfast were both extra charges that added up quickly. Those additional costs made the total feel a bit steep for what the room delivered. That said, the location is convenient for exploring Portland's waterfront and Old Port area, and the comfortable bed went a long way toward making the stay enjoyable. If you're someone who prioritizes sleep and can find a good rate (or don't mind paying for parking and breakfast separately), this is a perfectly good option. We'd consider staying here again, especially if the rate was a bit more competitive. 4 stars -- great bed and convenient location, with some value and finish caveats.

Despite…read moreit being weekdays and early in the tourist season, the bill ended up being $1,237.99 with parking, over $400 a night. We choose Hamptons because of the Hilton ownership oversight, although individually they are privately managed so quality will vary. Also this property did offer a genuine view of the ocean in the ocean facing rooms, which apparently is obscured by buildings in other nearby properties like Residence Inn. Our top floor corner room did offer great views, was clean and quiet, and reflected the relative newness of the property built in 2011. We appreciated being able to check in and choose the room ourselves with the Hilton app, one of the reasons we keep with the Hilton chain. They did give us the token Silver status benefit of bottled water when I requested it. Blocks wide construction was going on, including the large block this property is on and along the ocean front. This necessitated walking several blocks northeast to gain access to the lakefront path near the Narrow Gauge Railroad building. It also affected the room view. Once oceanside park construction is finally over it should be great for the various local hotels. For overnight parking you are essentially forced to use the $40 a day valet. The city owned Ocean Gateway Lot which we planned on using was closed due to construction of a new park, and apparently has been for some time. The privately owned $25 a day plus processing fee Ocean Gateway Garage is very sketchy according to Google reviews (2.6 stars) and will charge you an extra $25 if you leave after 800AM. The valeted cars are stored in small open lots either onsite or a couple blocks away from what we observed. Our experience with valet was not good. The second and third mornings we had to valet ourselves to get completely out, maneuvering around other cars and a parking lot hosing machine. The large self serve water container for ice water next to the front desk and the hot water container at the coffee bar were both empty on arrival, however they offered to get me some water when I pointed this out. We had requested an eventually received a rollaway bed. My girlfriend's daughter insists on separate beds for all of us. One great thing about Hamptons is that a rollaway bed added to a double queen room is not an issue, although the quality of the bed itself varies greatly. This one was terrible, with the center of it literally dropping to meet the floor. We also didn't get a top sheet or pillows. It took a couple requests but we did eventually get a sheet (still no pillow), and on the third night a new bed. The second bed was even worse than the first, with the bottom broken with a hole, see included image. When I mentioned it to the front desk our last night I didn't get a response, I think they were tired of dealing with it. Breakfast options were even sparser than the typical no frills Hampton breakfast. It was supposed to start at 600AM, but all three mornings the doors didn't open till between 610AM and 615AM. There is often a promo image of premium bakery bagels and cut fresh fruit for the free Hilton breakfast on the in-room TV at Hamptons, which in reality you rarely see. There was a couple bottles of Smucker's syrup for the waffles instead of something house made with actual fruit. The hard boiled eggs were unpeeled together in a container instead of pealed and in individual egg trey slots. The yogurt packs (one flavor) were not in a small fridge like they should be, but stacked in a box on an open air table and not cold. Are these yogurts thrown away after sitting out for hours or put back out each morning? We didn't see bagels, even the typical cheap grocery store ones. There was a box for actual fresh fruit, but it was empty the first two mornings. This property has great potential, particularly when the new park is in. Unfortunately it currently suffers dearly from lax management in all areas including front of house, valet, room support (rollaway bed), and breakfast

We have always had great experiences staying at Hampton Inn hotels. I was able to check in via the Hilton App and select a room. This location was great...on Fore street only about one block from the waterfront and surrounded by lots of shops and restaurants. The rooms were on the smaller side...but that is generally expected in larger/touristy cities. The rooms had comfortable beds, good water pressure, a microwave, a refrigerator and a desk/chair. There was also a large TV in the room with lots of channels. We did have an iron...but was missing an ironing board. Also, our bathroom door did NOT lock...the handle hardware seemed to be broken. They do offer free breakfast with a few hot options (such as eggs and sausages) as well as the typical continental items...breads, fruit, cereal and their signature waffle iron/maker. There is a pool and fitness center, but we did not visit either during our stay. Parking is valet-only and is $40 per night. The new ownership and management do not appear to be invested in the customer experience. As a matter of fact, Hemanth the manager parks in the only handicapped parking spot in the back lot. And no, he is not handicapped. I parked on the street and got a ticket. (I was never told upon check in that the inn has an additional lot.) Two of the other employees also park in the tiny lot out back, which forces guests onto the street or in the overflow lot. The new management, when I explained that I had not been told about the additional lot, insisted that I had been-although they were not there when I was checked in. My check in experience was interrupted by the new manager. Howard was beginning to check me in when Hemanth swooped in from the back room and talked over him. I did not receive a vehicle tag during check in, and only found out that I would need one the following day when other guests were checking in and getting vehicle tags. The toilet seat in my bathroom is broken (you sit down and slide from side to side) and the soap dispenser has been empty since check in two days ago. My room smells like the carpet needs to be cleaned or removed. A very inhospitable experience, and so disappointing that a beloved Inn has succumbed to such poor management.
